This time was for our son's graduation from Arizona State University. Our party of seven thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with the soothing guitar player in the background and twinkle lights in the trees. The food was excellent as always. We had the delicious Ahi over the Hot Salt Rock and Calamari with the Halibut and Braised Short Ribs which was very tender. The wine list was extensive as we enjoyed the Montelena Cabernet and Rombauer Chardonnay. I would highly recommend going to Lon's for any occasion.

Gorgeous flowers, plants and mature trees everywhere, with a casual but elegant, old Phoenix feel. Our server was fun, helpful and attentive. Dinner (also on the patio) was just as memorable. The menu was varied, but not overwhelming, and the wine selection was outstanding. Our server recommended the truffle goat cheese macaroni side dish, which was hands down the group favorite, with the porcini mushroom soup a close second. The bone-in rib eye steak entree was a hit with everyone. We are looking forward to returning here often. Outside dining overlooking Camelback Mountain is gorgeous, as are the grounds of the resort. For brunch we learned what a great chef can do with some old standbys, including huevos rancheros, which were creatively plated and delicious, with frybread, black beans and chorizo. For dessert, the chocolate torte included not only a dark chocolate brownie, mousse and ice cream, but also house-made caramel popcorn--crunchy and sweet--and some molecular gastronomy powder, something our server explained to us and which we thought was a great complement. Waited 1 hour for food after ordering. Server kept saying it will be out in a few minutes. Manager apologized, but said our order got to the kitchen behind an order for13 people. Everyone else around us was getting food. Large party NOT my problem. Manager did not offer an accommodation, but essentially forced me to ask for one. And then I thought it was minimal. In a restaurant like Lon's, the manager should respond to s complaint by asking what can be done to make the diner happy.
