Our chef and master gardener grow a wide selection of organic herbs, heirloom vegetables and fruit on the grounds. We had expected a brunch (buffet style) instead it was a set menu-appetizer, main and dessert for 75.00 each. Appetizer was small, 2 out of 5 of us enjoyed the main course and 0 out of 5 liked dessert. And on top of it mimosas were 9.00 a pop. "

  • "Lon's at the Hermosa Inn is one of those little gems tucked in the foothills of Paradise Valley with views of the surrounding mountains. It has an understated, elegant, old southwest casita ambiance and character that is warm and inviting. Beautiful flower gardens, large trees, and green grassy areas surround the inner courtyard. Dinner was outdoors al fresco with a guitarist playing in the distance. I was a little nervous about it being too noisy and making it difficult to have a conversation but the music was in the background and was just right. Food was delicious, especially the ahi tuna appetizer on the hot rock. Service was friendly, attentive without being intrusive. Lovely evening!"

  • "The patio at Lon's was the perfect place for three of us to take our friend for a birthday lunch. It was a beautiful day, the flowers were all in bloom and the ladies were happy with their salads. The waiter brought out a little treat for the birthday girl and it all couldn't have been nicer."

  • "We loved the small intimate bar, where we had a cocktail before dinner. This is a true 'mixology' bar making classic cocktails the way they should be prepared. Kudos! Then out to beautiful outdoors dining. The somm suggested a nice super Tuscan that didn't break the bank. The meal from start to finish was excellent. We'll be back, but next time we plan to stay overnight in the beautiful intimate boutique hotel."

  • "A snippy hostess, with absolutely no provocation, is not a great way to start a lunch gathering. Being seated 15 minutes after your reservation time (when the restaurant is almost empty) only adds to the annoyance. Follow that with Chopped Salads that were nothing more than a pile of hard, raw, tasteless vegetables, with an occasional cube of cheese thrown in, and you have a lunch to forget. The only memorable thing we ate was a shared order of Truffle-Oil French Fries. Terrific! What's happened to Lon's? It used to be a favorite place to take guests? There's a revamped menu---is there also a new chef? We'll give it one more try because we've dined there for so many years. Hopefully, things will improve."

  • "When our food was served (we were out on the patio) the table was swarmed by flies…….dozens and dozens. It was unpleasant. The waiter stood there and swatted at them with a towel to try to help for a minute or so, then he commented that this has happened before at this particular table, which was at the far edge of the patio near the service area. The service area didn't appear to have a problem with them swarming around, and as soon as we finished eating they were gone. I've never had this happen before anywhere at a patio table. The reason I said that the service was only fair was that our water glasses were never refilled."

The patio is beautiful with mountain views surrounding, tables are well spaced and the seating is comfortable for a leisurely dining experience. The tuna appetizer was exceptional: rare and cool inside, sizzling on the outside, as were the tenderloin with house-made bacon and the duck breast. iThe waiter was ridiculously attentive, but never once did he sneak up to ask me a question while I had a mouth full of food. Highly recommended for a special night or a night that you want to make special."

  • "We stayed at the Hermosa for several days, taking most of our meals at either Lon's or the bar. The service we experienced was amazing and the dishes served were spectacular. We can definitely recommend the short ribs, duck, tenderloin and grouper. Great wine list and an acceptable selection of craft beer (although no porters or stouts while we were there). Breakfast was also fantastic. If the weather is good, sit outside on their patio. Highly recommend."

  • "I booked reservations at Lon's as a belated birthday dinner for my husband. Although we are both native Arizonans neither of us had dined there, so I knew it would be special. The experience was delightful! I can see why their outdoor patio is award winning...beautifully landscaped with blooming plants and flowers, and live music too. We chose to sit on their back patio, which was equally inviting but quiet. The food was excellent, as was the service. The staff really go out of their way to make their guests feel welcome, which is not something you always find in restaurants these days. It is pricey, but worth it, especially for a special occasion dinner."

I was quite disappointed in the quality of the prime rib -- not up to the standards of a restaurant that aspires to be a place for special occasions.   • "We had visited Lon's about 5 years ago on a trip to the Scottsdale area, so when this trip came up we made a reservation to right away to go again. Sometimes when you have an amazing meal your next visit to the same place doesn't meet your expectations but not at Lon's it met and exceeded our expectations. This visit was even better than the first. We had lovely weather which allowed for dinner outside that was perfect. Food as before was excellent, service excellent, and overall great evening. We hope it isn't that long till we are back in the area but whenever it is we will be sure to dine at Lon's."

  • "At this time of year, dining on the outdoor patio with the fountain, trees, twinkle lights and musical ensemble, is pure magic. We started with the foie gras, which was amazing. The duck breast, salmon, and short ribs were all succulent and beautifully presented. Of course, the bread tray is always welcome with the cornbread, crackers and rolls. Wine list is substantial. Wine sommelier is knowledgeable and helpful. Wait staff is always professional and unobtrusive. Lon's never disappoints! Always a treat to dine here!"

We searched for our server countless times for water, refills on drinks, and finally the bill. The restaurant looked very short staffed. I'll continue going to Lon's, but I don't know if my mom will go back, nor recommend it to anyone. Her first impression was not the best."

  • "Lon's is one of our favorite restaurants in the Phoenix area. We have been patronizing it for about 6 years. The food and service never disappoints. Unfortunately, the atmosphere on the large front patio is disturbed by the amplified music played at night. There is a small rear patio that offers a quiet alternative, but often is unavailable. The interior of the restaurant is attractive, and a quiet table usually can be had."
