We have been there before but not for nearly 4 years (too long). Actually gave daughter her choice and this was it. Great choice by her. we had a great time and our waiter was so personable.
Has nothing to do with the food, but if you don't take the time to look at the photos and artwork by Lon himself you are truly missing out...

Tucked in the midst of an upmarket residential area, but what a lovely place. Didn't appear to be too many sleeping guests staying, and we saw much of the grounds in the dark, but we liked the restaurant very much. We both had the roast pork and it was delicious, accompanied by roasted vegetables that tasted absolutely wonderful. Delightful, friendly waiter and also convenient valet parking. (seems to be a lot of that in Arizona). It was a bit too hot to eat outside, at least for us, but there were plenty of people sitting at the outdoor tables enjoying dinner by candlelight. Right off the bat the staff there treats you like you are the most important customer there. We had made a reservation online, and we called later to see if we could sit on the patio, but they had already put us outside because we had told them it was our anniversary. The meal itself was incredible, the food was so fresh and had amazing flavor. The staff at Lon's put some other nice personal touches to make our evening special, for example a signed card from the staff, and on our dessert the chef wrote Happy Anniversary with the chocolate syrup. If you dine here, try to go on a warm (90 degree) evening and ask to be seated on the patio. It is one of the best in Phoenix/Scottsdale. The service is outstanding, it operates like a well oiled machine even with a full load. He was especially helpful in advising the chef of my food allergy. Chelsa's has a similar patio with misters that are very obscure and subtle while keeping a cooler temp. Music was very nice not to loud or distracting. I just had to give 3 stars on service because it states on your confirmation email regarding the reservation that if you want patio seating to call them directly, so I did.
However when we arrived they said there was a wait because the Patio technically cannot be reserved. This was a special occasion and we I wanted it to be special so I was just disappointed. That information should have been given to me over the phone when I asked.

This time was for our son's graduation from Arizona State University. Our party of seven thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with the soothing guitar player in the background and twinkle lights in the trees. The food was excellent as always. We had the delicious Ahi over the Hot Salt Rock and Calamari with the Halibut and Braised Short Ribs which was very tender. The wine list was extensive as we enjoyed the Montelena Cabernet and Rombauer Chardonnay. I would highly recommend going to Lon's for any occasion.

Gorgeous flowers, plants and mature trees everywhere, with a casual but elegant, old Phoenix feel. Our server was fun, helpful and attentive. Dinner (also on the patio) was just as memorable. The menu was varied, but not overwhelming, and the wine selection was outstanding. Our server recommended the truffle goat cheese macaroni side dish, which was hands down the group favorite, with the porcini mushroom soup a close second. The bone-in rib eye steak entree was a hit with everyone. We are looking forward to returning here often. Outside dining overlooking Camelback Mountain is gorgeous, as are the grounds of the resort.
