Diner Reviews
  • "The service was great and very personal. The food is unique and interesting. The Stuffed Skirt steak entrée is the best I have experienced. We returned just to order it again."

  • "The food was delicious as well as the service being great and our waitress was extremely helpful. However, the table next to us was so loud and obnoxious that we could not hear the couple we were sitting with. Many other diners were also upset with the noise. We were disappointed with management when complaints were made, but he never approached the table to calm it down. Six bottles of wine for six people was probably a bad choice for them. Even though the food was delicious, I would have to think long and hard before going back."

  • "I was looking forward to the experience. Had heard great things about Longitude315 from many. We had 9:30 Saturday reservation (7/19). We arrived about 8:45 and were greeted warmly, enjoyed a nice glass of wine while waiting for our table. Sat sown around 9:15 and placed our order. I had the short ribs and my wife had the chicken. The beans and rice and vegetables were ok at best. The ribs were burnt on outside and raw on the inside, chicken was very dry. Clearly the cooks were toast after a long night. I would like to try this restaurant pre rush our (5:00?) to give another chance. Again, have heard good things, but my first impression.....NOT GOOD."

  • "food was good. fried plantains with chimichurri sauce was delicious. had the skirt steak-a bit fatty, and really, really spicy. i think the waitress should have told us how spicy the food would be when we ordered it so we weren't unpleasantly surprised."

  • "Because of OpenTable we discovered this place, and have been coming here regularly ever since.. Everything is delicious, and different from other offerings in the area. The service is friendly and professional. The only potential downside is the noise level - it's pretty high ... but I'm there to eat so, in that regard, it's a 5-star-er, no question!"

  • "Delicious food but very very noisy. Not a place for an intimate dinner"

  • "The 4 of us had small plates, the drunken mushrooms, quinoa salad, grilled pineapple, and montaditos were great. Had the different empanadas, both vegetarian and beef, they were excellent as well. Also had lamb chops and skirt steak, both were delicious. For dessert had the chocolate cake with the coconut sorbet, was big enough for 4 people. The service was outstanding, very attentive and our drinks and water were always filled. If you love latin american cuisine, this is the place for you."

  • "This is only our second time dining at Longitude 315 but we will be back many more times, I am sure. The food is phenomenal! I cannot say enough about how fresh the food is, or how creative the menu is, to anyone who will listen. The wine list is relatively small but well-rounded, too. In both experiences we have enjoyed every bite - especially the plantain chips and chimichurri dipping sauce (they need to bottle that stuff so I can stock up on it at home and put it on everything! That is the bomb!) Our first visit was during the winter and the chef actually came to our table and introduced himself - very impressed! I would highly recommend Longitude 315 to anyone looking for a delicious dining experience."

  • "Food is great .wish they could do something about the noise!"

  • "Didn't know what to expect when we visited Longitud315, which specializes in South American cuisine. We found excellent food, prepared with care and creativity. "Small plates" can often end up incurring large charges. Here, you could order lamb chops (excellent) and beefsteak for under $20, have a side (try the asparagus) and dessert and still not break your wallet. 2-for-1 beer and wine nights also ease the check. The atmosphere is warm and lovely; comfortable chairs and deep wood tables give the place a nice aura. Service was very good and the basket of plantains and dip beats bread and butter any day!"

  • "My only disappointment in this restaurant is that I didn't find it sooner. This restaurant stands up to almost any of the fine Chicago restaurants. Starting with the plantain chips and one of the best sauces (Chimichurri) that I have ever had, to the desert, everything was top notch. We had the ruby red trout and the Churrascos. Both were excellent. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Loved the set up of the restaurant. It is designed well both for small parties as well as for a group of 6 or 8 or more. The chef is very successful in blending and mixing the unique food from different part of Latin countries, and we enjoyed every single dish very much. Tried recommended dishes in the past reviews. Arepa Dona: excellent!, Ceviche Duo: a bit too sweet and salty for us although we loved the flavor. We also ordered mussels for appetizer, and it was good. The recommended dish of the day of marinated skirt steak is a must! We would love to return to this restaurant again. Oh, parking was a challenge, but the host was kind to watch our car at a 30-min. parking spot right in front of the restaurant entrance."

  • "We celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary in style. Food was delicious. Seasonings totally agreed with me. Waitress attentive. She let us enjoy leisurely meal with another couple. Surprised us with a dessert on honor of our anniversary, even though we did not order desert. We will definitely return!😊"

  • "Excellent pan-latin cuisine. The chef really knows what he's doing. Unique concept for the area. Been there a number of times and have never been disappointed. The owners are really good people and the wait staff gets better with each visit. Don't miss this one."

  • "Excellent. If you seek someone who values food flavors, presentation, preparation and service, this establishement is excellent We have eaten here many times in the past six months, and this is a real wonderful experience for a terrific meal."

  • "Dinner after 8pm on a Thursday,...the place was packed. We were seated immediately (reservations are a must) at a cute 2-top in the window area, away from the din of the main dining room. Our busser was very helpful about the Latin American menu and was extremely polite. The plantain strips and chimichurri dip are addictive, despite the chimichurri dip being a bit on the too-salty side. We decided to forego the main courses for several small plates: Arepas (highly recommended), Asparagus (great with crispy procuitto and gorgonzola), Grilled octopus (a bit chewey), and a bruscetta-style app (name forgotten). These all featured strong flavors. We will try the main courses on our next visit. The Sangria (red wine) was agreeable."

  • "We were greeted and offered a choice of tables. We chose the "kitchen table" which offered a view of the kitchen and was away from the other tables and hence quieter. The concept of the restaurant was explained, drink orders taken and we perused the menu. There were 5 of us and we ordered small plates to share and also 2 large plates to share. The food was outstanding. Our server answered every question and helped us make these difficult food decisions. She also suggested a wine that was perfect with the meal. Perfect meal, perfect evening, we will be going back!"

  • "My husband and I went to Longitude315 with three other couples. The restaurant was full and noisy when we arrived. Once we were seated, we got festive too. Enjoying sangria and craft beer, we ordered appetizers to share and then everyone got an entree. Everything was delicious -- from the grilled mussels and cerviche to the skirt steak and salmon. We'll definitely go back."

  • "delicious food. lots of options for sharing small plates among our group of 6 so we got to try several different items. entrees were all very good as well, from the trout to the gaucho steak...definitely recommend. gets busy!"

  • "The food is so tasty. Full of flavor. Great service. Always exceeds our expectations."

  • "The owners are the best and why this restaurant will succeed. The entree selections supported by the small dish selection will give anyone an opportunity to enjoy the south american experience. The banana chips, the vegetables as part of the entree will leave you craving for more. The restaurant fills to the brim on the Saturday nite we went, I highly recommend reservations. I had the skirt steak with chicken and sausage and rice and roasted vegetable. Had to bring part of it home."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here on a Friday night. We had a great experience. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great recommendations. The menu isn't huge but has something for everyone. They offer some small plates to share as a meal or order as an appetizer. They start by bringing you plantains with a Chimichurri. I have never been a big fan of plantains but these were delicious. We also shared some drunken Mushrooms and a crab cake. One of the best crab cakes I've had. They said they don't use bread crumbs as a binder which gave it a very fresh taste. My wife had a skirt steak and I had a trout. Both were delicious. Wine list features South American wines & are very well priced. We'll be back."

  • "This is a small well decorated space in Highwood. We enjoyed beautiful plaintain chips to start with plenty of chimichurri. The small plates such at arepas were delicious and well presented. The churrasco large plate has enough meat on it for a family of 4. We loved the coconut rice and fried plantains on the entre plates. Salmon was fine. I would go back for the small plates and get a side of fried plantains and rice. My only criticism is that when small plates and large plates are on the menu, and you order plenty for appetizers, then it should be ok to order for some of the party to order small plates for the main course, too. Isn't that the point of small plates? You shouldn't question the diner's choice to order small plates. "

  • "Friday nite and the place was bustling. I think my party of 5 tried every one of the small plates. Delicious. We met both owners who actually stopped to talk rather than a cursory hello and thanks for stopping in. Third time there in three months and it's now on our list of regular spots."

  • "We had such a great anniversary celebration at Longitud315. Scott, our server, and your staff were all so helpful and friendly. Our dinner choices, trout and salmon, were outstanding and those plantains and chimichurra sauce started things off just right. No complaints, really nice job all the way around."

  • "Imaginative and varied small plates allow lots of exciting flavors in one meal. Reasonable wine list; bottle or glass. "

  • "This was my third visit to Longitud365, and I continue to be impressed with the food. I tried the Gaucho this time, and found the rib eye steak to be tender and flavorful, and the reduction sauce was delicious. Grilled asparagus was served alongside. The drawbacks are that the place is kind of small and narrow and it can get quite loud in the restaurant. The wine list is pretty limited but serviceable, and there are some relatively inexpensive bottles are available on the list with a couple of 'cellar selections', too. There is no lounge or bar seating, so you probably will not want to come early as there really is no place to wait for your table. "

  • "The food at Longitud315 was delicious and interesting. To me, the highlight was the quinoa salad with fresh berries. We also tried the empanadas and the spinach mushroom was my favorite. They brought a bowl of plantains to snack on which were fresh and tasty and also included flatbread with our dinner. They had both domestic and South American beer. The server was efficient and helpful in making suggestions and answering our questions. To me, the only negative was that it was incredibly noisy. The music was so loud we could not hear what our table mates were saying. My suggestion in to please turn the music down or off and consider ways to make it less noisy. "

  • "One of those menus where you want to try everything!"
    Dined on 5/16/2014
  • "Cute atmosphere, excellent service. Over all, interesting and different food from anywhere else. Our favorite was that they stared with fried plantains and chimichurri sauce which was outstanding. We had a very fresh quinoa and fruit Venezuelan salad and some other tapas. Our only disappointment was that the ceviche choices were catfish and shrimp, not our favorites. They only serve wine and beer, so don't expect a full service bar. "
