Longitud315 is the life-long dream of Venezuelan-born Chef Tony Castillo. A concept that was born as a result of his childhood memories cooking side to side with his grandmother.   • "My husband and I love going to this restaurant because of the food, ambience, and service. We are always greeted warmly. (this was our third visit) Because we were celebrating a special occasion we started with wine cocktails that were delicious. The restaurant serves both small and large plates and we decided to go with small plates that we had never ordered before. We had mussels, eggplant, grilled pineapple, a shredded chicken dish. We ordered the plates two at a time and in between munched on crispy plantains and dip. We finished by sharing a piece of the stellar flourless chocolate cake and coffee. We had a wonderful evening."

  • "We had not heard of Longitude 315 until the day we dined there and it was recommended by a friend for our anniversary dinner. We liked sitting at one of the two tables in the window. We tried several appetizers and loved the flavors. Also enjoyed the complimentary crispy plaintains and accompanying spread. Although we probably had enough food with the three appetizers, we pushed it and ordered the combo main course, consisting of skirt steak, chicken and sausage with rice and beans and accompanied by delicious and unusual soft flatbread. Needless to say, we took much of it "to go." It was delicious but we had overeaten by then. We also had a charming server. We will definitely go back and recommend it to friends."

  • "What a treat! After recently traveling thru South America and not having particular great cuisine, I was thrilled to discover excellent Chilean, Brazillan, and Argentine food in Highwood! Wine list is all SA too and our waiter was able to recommend an delicious Brazillan cab blend. Who know Brazil made wine?! There's a chef' stable which we are going to as for next time."

  • " Thought we would give this restaurant a second chance, after enjoying the food, not the service, first time around. Invited friends, arrived, our favorite wine in hand. We were seated, after 15 min, had to find someone to open our wine. We raved about the Ruby Trout we tried on our first visit. The waiter took our order, after another 10 min., returned to tell us they were out of the trout! Seemed kind of odd since we were one of three tables at the beginning of the evening. Disaster continues, getting a bill, with three appetizers added that we never ordered. Huge bill with very little service. At the very least, they could have waived the corking fee. We will not return or recommend Longitude 315."

  • "The food was delicious as well as the service being great and our waitress was extremely helpful. However, the table next to us was so loud and obnoxious that we could not hear the couple we were sitting with. Many other diners were also upset with the noise. We were disappointed with management when complaints were made, but he never approached the table to calm it down. Six bottles of wine for six people was probably a bad choice for them. Even though the food was delicious, I would have to think long and hard before going back."

  • "I was looking forward to the experience. Had heard great things about Longitude315 from many. We had 9:30 Saturday reservation (7/19). We arrived about 8:45 and were greeted warmly, enjoyed a nice glass of wine while waiting for our table. Sat sown around 9:15 and placed our order. I had the short ribs and my wife had the chicken. The beans and rice and vegetables were ok at best. The ribs were burnt on outside and raw on the inside, chicken was very dry. Clearly the cooks were toast after a long night. I would like to try this restaurant pre rush our (5:00?) to give another chance. Again, have heard good things, but my first impression.....NOT GOOD."

The service is friendly and professional. The only potential downside is the noise level - it's pretty high ... but I'm there to eat so, in that regard, it's a 5-star-er, no question!"

  • "The 4 of us had small plates, the drunken mushrooms, quinoa salad, grilled pineapple, and montaditos were great. Had the different empanadas, both vegetarian and beef, they were excellent as well. Also had lamb chops and skirt steak, both were delicious. For dessert had the chocolate cake with the coconut sorbet, was big enough for 4 people. The service was outstanding, very attentive and our drinks and water were always filled. If you love latin american cuisine, this is the place for you."

  • "This is only our second time dining at Longitude 315 but we will be back many more times, I am sure. The food is phenomenal! I cannot say enough about how fresh the food is, or how creative the menu is, to anyone who will listen. The wine list is relatively small but well-rounded, too. In both experiences we have enjoyed every bite - especially the plantain chips and chimichurri dipping sauce (they need to bottle that stuff so I can stock up on it at home and put it on everything! That is the bomb!) Our first visit was during the winter and the chef actually came to our table and introduced himself - very impressed! I would highly recommend Longitude 315 to anyone looking for a delicious dining experience."

  • "Didn't know what to expect when we visited Longitud315, which specializes in South American cuisine. We found excellent food, prepared with care and creativity. "Small plates" can often end up incurring large charges. Here, you could order lamb chops (excellent) and beefsteak for under $20, have a side (try the asparagus) and dessert and still not break your wallet. 2-for-1 beer and wine nights also ease the check. The atmosphere is warm and lovely; comfortable chairs and deep wood tables give the place a nice aura. Service was very good and the basket of plantains and dip beats bread and butter any day!"

  • "My only disappointment in this restaurant is that I didn't find it sooner. This restaurant stands up to almost any of the fine Chicago restaurants. Starting with the plantain chips and one of the best sauces (Chimichurri) that I have ever had, to the desert, everything was top notch. We had the ruby red trout and the Churrascos. Both were excellent. Can't wait to go back."

  • "Loved the set up of the restaurant. It is designed well both for small parties as well as for a group of 6 or 8 or more. The chef is very successful in blending and mixing the unique food from different part of Latin countries, and we enjoyed every single dish very much. Tried recommended dishes in the past reviews. Arepa Dona: excellent!, Ceviche Duo: a bit too sweet and salty for us although we loved the flavor. We also ordered mussels for appetizer, and it was good. The recommended dish of the day of marinated skirt steak is a must! We would love to return to this restaurant again. Oh, parking was a challenge, but the host was kind to watch our car at a 30-min. parking spot right in front of the restaurant entrance."

  • "Dinner after 8pm on a Thursday,...the place was packed. We were seated immediately (reservations are a must) at a cute 2-top in the window area, away from the din of the main dining room. Our busser was very helpful about the Latin American menu and was extremely polite. The plantain strips and chimichurri dip are addictive, despite the chimichurri dip being a bit on the too-salty side. We decided to forego the main courses for several small plates: Arepas (highly recommended), Asparagus (great with crispy procuitto and gorgonzola), Grilled octopus (a bit chewey), and a bruscetta-style app (name forgotten). These all featured strong flavors. We will try the main courses on our next visit. The Sangria (red wine) was agreeable."

  • "We were greeted and offered a choice of tables. We chose the "kitchen table" which offered a view of the kitchen and was away from the other tables and hence quieter. The concept of the restaurant was explained, drink orders taken and we perused the menu. There were 5 of us and we ordered small plates to share and also 2 large plates to share. The food was outstanding.Our server answered every question and helped us make these difficult food decisions. She also suggested a wine that was perfect with the meal. Perfect meal, perfect evening, we will be going back!"
