  • "I really expected more for the exorbitant cost. The Boar's Ribs were cold when they arrived (if they were meant to be served this way, it is a mistake!) and they were very bland. The BBQ Sauce that accompanied the Pork Loin over powered everything else. The Butter Leaf Salad was very skimpy. Overall it was just very disappointing."

  • "We have a pretty good foundation for nice meals...I consider myself a good critic of $$$-$$$$$ restaurants. This was one I was looking forward to but have to say was not up to par. We made the reservation and confirmed on the phone that we were celebrating a birthday but it wasn't even acknowledged. The waitress forgot to bring refills and we had to remind her to bring condiments. I have to say in am over Chef Tim Love.We have had this cut a few times and this one was definitely one we should have sent back. It was a ball of flavorless tough meat. My daughter ordered her customary filet mignonette. She enjoyed it but it was your basic steak and included nothing for a $32 price. Just not what was expected..."

  • "How nice to have a restaurant this good in the Stockyards. Every other restaurant is Mexican food or steaks. Even though this restaurant had steaks (and they were very good), there were many more options to choose from and the atmosphere was more intimate and nicer. Would definitely go again."

  • "Definitely a different experience. Had the Elk - outstanding. Rattlesnake and Rabbit sausage appetizer was also excellent. Great service and outstanding food."

  • "While everyone in our party of five thoroughly enjoyed their meal, two members bemoaned the fact that they had safely chosen different steak choices as their main entree. The steaks, albeit very good, were just steaks and for us weren't as creative as the other entrees ordered. Be bold when ordering at LD...you won't be disappointed. And be sure to order apps! Creativity shines in this course! If only ordering one...opt for the Elk Sliders...this selection alone will bring me back again and again!"

  • "Portions on some dishes are very small compared to other comparable restaurants. I have eaten here several times, but I was very disappointed tonight. I think the waiter was even embarrassed."

  • "LD made quite an impression on us as we celebrated a birthday. The ambience and the service were very good but its the menu that makes the evening. The chef brings a wide range of meats and ingredients together to create one of DFW's most interesting menus. This is a treat for foodies and a pleasant education for the rest of us. LD is worth a visit and then you can decide how often to return."

  • "Steak was tough with a lot if grissle. It was ordered medium well and came out red in center. Sent it back. Wine reduction for pork was very very salty. Flavors in salad didn't go together. Overpriced. Poor value. Won't be back."

  • "I have eaten at Lonesome Dove many times and it's always an excellent experience. It's not cheap, but it's worth the price for a special occasion or celebration. The food is of outstanding quality and the menu has plenty of unusual and intriguing dishes. If you're looking for a superb meal in the Ft Worth Stockyards, this is the place to go!"

  • "My husband and I were very disappointed in this restaurant. It is dimly lit, and a flashlight is needed to read the menu. Our server was attentive, so there was no problem there. We had a salad, the butter lettuce, for our first course. It was very good. My husband ordered the elk, which was said to be more tender than the tenderloin. Upon the recommendation of the server, I ordered the halibut. After ordering, we were next brought out a basket of bread. The cornbread was dry; the other bread was very good. When our food was brought out, I soon realized the halibut was dry. The elk had a good taste, but it was chewy. So overall our dining experience left a lot to be desired."

  • "I know, don't expect good seafood at a steakhouse. There were two fish choices on the menu for Ash Wednesday and the Halibut en papillote sounded like the best choice but left a lot to be desired. Dry unflavorful and overlooked fish with undercooked vegetables. It needed a little butter spilled in the parchment wrap. Nevertheless, the service from Justin on a very busy night was outstanding and the Key Lime pie was better than Joe's Stone Crab's key like pie in Miami. Stick with the exotic meats for a Lonesome Dove delight."

  • "We went for our first anniversary and the service was incredible. Always get the macaroni and cheese if you go. They even gave us a sweet anniversary surprise. We will definitely be going back!"

  • "We have been going for the last 5 years (once or twice a year). It was hands down my favorite steak (tomahawk steak). I had a poor experience last time but we decided to go back again hoping it was a mistake. Unfortunately it must be the norm. Spending $400 for a dinner for two, our expectations are pretty high. We sent the $145 steak back for being poorly prepared and everything else just tasted like pepper. It felt like we were their to support Tim Love's brand versus enjoying a memorable dinner. At least the service was excellent."

  • "Wife and I flew in to see the Dirty River Boys play at Billy Bobs. For a special weekend, a special meal was needed. This place was on my list of must try's. I had high expectations and they we're met. Everything we tried was unique and delicious. For a place with incredible and exotic meats, I was impressed with the vegetables. They almost stole the show. The atmosphere has that rustic elegance you're looking for and the wait staff was very accommodating to my wife's celiacs. We both giggles at some point during the meal. It was a great night. By the way, the Dirty River Boys killed it at Billy Bobs!"

  • "The food was not prepared well. Asked for steak to be cooked Pink. It was served burnt on the outside and red inside. The fish dinner was so bland that my husband ate three bites and was done. It was over-priced, poorly prepared, and the wait staff was slow and unconcerned. We will not return. For a nice dinner in the area and at a reasonable price in Ft. Worth try: Del Frisco or Texas de Brazil"

  • "My wife and I were traveling to Dallas and as Foodies the first thing we do is search out great places to eat. Our experience here was average at best and very little like website sold it! Reservations for 9:30 and we were finally seated at 9:53. Stood at bar for entire time and neither server asked if we would like a drink, water, or even acknowledged our presence. After about 20 minutes the manager finally came up and indicated they were working on a table. We ordered a nice glass of red wine, which was served in white wine glasses. Our food wasn't correct when served on two occasions during our 3 courses. The food tasted ok, but wasn't exciting enough to ever wait for a 9:30 reservation or 6:30 for that matter."

  • "As usual it was a great experience however, it was a set fixed menu at a set price for Valentines weekend. When I made the reservation or when they called to confirm, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Needless to say, my wife an I were surprised by both when we showed up. The food was great and service was exceptional but was just surprised."

  • "5 course Valentine special for $95/person. Lobster wonton appetizer was good. Main course Elk for husband was 'decent' at best; the spice on it had cinnamon, not very complimentary, beef tenderloinfor me was below average. Lentils on 3rd course were hard, undercooked. Dessert was a joke-- wine jelly, amacaroon with styrofoam texture and adry choc cheesecake, they looked like doll food, less than one bite. We wanted to try something different than Bobs Steak and chophouse or the 'usua'--big mistake. We were celebrating our Valentine's Day anniversary. Very disappointing."

  • "Lonesome Dove is our favorite restaurant! The food is outstanding, the ambiance is wonderful, the service is fantastic. We have enjoyed Lonesome Dove for years as our "Special Occasion" restaurant, but just recently went for lunch. Lunch was very enjoyable, as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Been going to Lonesome Dove on special occasions for quite some time now. Recommended it to friends and family frequently. Our first Valentine's there and both of us was VERY DISAPPOINTED. Our favorite, Mac n cheese, was ruined with too much pepper! Our usual filet mignon was replaced with a similar cut of beef but smothered in sauce... bad idea! The other courses was interesting but nothing special. Especially for the set pricing of $95/person. Waitress didn't bother offing us coffee when desert came out. Had to ask for it. We'll be searching for a new place to celebrate our special occasions."

  • "Lonesome Dove does something more restaurants should do. They allow you to create a custom appetizer from their regular apps, choosing say, one rabbit/rattlesnake sausage, one wild boar rib, one nacho, etc. Really appealing and beautifully done. For main courses we had chicken (very nicely done) and a sweet potator stuffed poblano which was outstanding but seriously HOT. (as in peppers). A nice change of pace but the food is not very wine friendly IMO. Good for an adventure!"

  • "We had a very enjoyable anniversary dinner. I had the garlic infused steak-done perfectly and the accompaniments were delicious. My husband enjoyed the sea bass--especially the sauce. Our chocolate dessert was very rich, but we managed to eat it all! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. Thank you for a lovely evening."

  • "Great wine selection, achknowledged our anniversary, Beau our waiter was outstanding, suggested an awesome wine RELIC, which we totally enjoyed. Bartender although extremely busy, very personable. We will dine with Lonesome Dove again. Definately a hot spot for us."

  • "All first course options were delicious. Only complaint on first course was Elk sliders with blueberry jam were a little underdone. Second course was stellar. Had pork green chili. Too much rosemary for some at the table but only the rosemary haters. Main course was beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin, and ny strip steak with mushrooms+truffles and asparagus. INSANE beef tenderloin. Worth every penny. Dessert was bread pudding, chocolate cheesecake, and signature ancho chile chocolate cake. Ancho chile chocolate cake was the most intense chocolate experience--only order if you're a major chocolate fan."

  • "We loved the food and the atmosphere! It was an overall lovely evening. However, I had read on one website the dining cost was rated $$ and it should be rated $$$. The dining cost does match the quality of the food but diners need to be prepared to pay $$$ for a very lovely meal."
