Diner Reviews
  • "The London has been around for years and just keeps getting better. Nice atmosphere, good food and not so noisy that you can't hear your own table conversation, like so many city restaurants. Love the round table for six, so we can all talk together! Thanks for a lovely Sunday brunch."

  • "This is one of those places where you never have a bad experience. Sit in the Paris room for a change in scenery. The food and service is always good, and you'll leave fully satisfied."

  • "Nice atmosphere. We were there with another couple. Our server was a bit challenged in that the menu had been changed just a few days before. As it was different from what was on-line, we were surprised how meat-centric the menu was. . The vegetable tapas were promised to be a chef's creation of various vegetable sides. What came out was a wooden plank with mounds of all the day's sides. Nothing special, and certainly not creative. The rest of the food, rabbit and salmon was good. Server did a good job working with one of our party who could not have any dairy ingredients, although it took a lot of back-and-forth to the kitchen. A pleasant but not exceptional meal. Good if you are in the neighborhood, but not worth a special trip."

  • "Have been coming to London for years and they never disappoint. Can always count on a great burger and bar food, as well as special meal in the dining room. Best duck breast & foie gras around!"

  • "We like London Grill every time! The food is fine, fettucine and chicken both well-prepared, and the back room, glassed-in for a city view, and with a good heater at our feet, was wonderfully quiet. The bread last night was just fair (can't say what kind!), and we'd wish they didn't dole it out 1 slice at a time, but my diet profitted by that."

  • "This was my first experience at London...we went for brunch so I may not be giving them a fair assessment. I was dissappointed with the brunch menu and the 2 items that we did order were average."

  • "it was a great time! salmon and two different salads and killer chocolate dessert"

  • "Maybe we started off poorly, as the bill for 2 drinks was higher than the prices on the list. So we asked. They charge more for a "rocks pour" because it's an extra ounce (!?!?) - but mine was neat (& it doesn't say that anywhere). The entree came on top of our appetizers, so the staff stood there with our plates while I shoveled the rest of the vegetable tapas into my mouth. Not fun. Still, the food was very good - grilled veggies were fine, mussels were good and different (in IPA), grilled cauliflower steak & duck dogs were very good, as was my wife's chili. We had a fine Sicilian red for $38 and left well fed if not totally satisfied."

  • "Enjoyed a great dinner at London Grill on a busy night. Service was excellent - great recommendations on seared duck breast and dessert. As we were leaving, we heard music coming from next door, so we headed down the steps behind the host stand to see what was going on. What a lovely surprise to see (and hear) a beautiful singer serenading a crowd in the Paris side of the restaurant. The space is intimate, dark, and sexy. We stayed for a glass of wine (local PA wine...on tap! surprisingly quaffable). Will definitely be back to London, and Paris."

  • "Absolutly love enjoying the incredible diverse menu options! They have something for any mood you or your party is in with delicious salmon, steak, pasta, seafood, & a fabulous bar burger you can't go wrong with any choice. The service is also delightful from extremely knowledgable about their always changing menus to timely service with a smile. This is by far my favorite place for a romantic dinner in Paris Wine bar or the atrium, family dinner, or happy hour. They also have an ever changing extensive draft & wine selection that makes any foodie extremely happy to pair your favorite meal with something delectable. Lastly also unforgettable desserts!! Enjoy London Grill & Paris Wine Bar today! I promise you will be extremely impressed!"

  • "Bad food. very average deserts. good bar options but very slow service. i must say the waiter was very nice, but he was by himself on a large area, which made service very slow, not to his fault. and the food... why did i do this mistake again? don't fall for the 1000 points in open table with this place. the food doesn't worth it at all!"

  • "A little bit of something for everyone. Banquet hall, intimate dining, and bar scene. Somewhat strange but the food was very good. Would definitely recommend if you're in Fairmount area"

  • "Paris Wine Bar hidden gem behind London Grill, only open Thursday Friday and Saturday nights. 1/2 priced bottles and liters of wine and 1/2 priced entrees on Thursdays. Live Jazz Friday and Saturday."

  • "Had a great time here on Valentine's weekend. Went with my family - not celebrating the holiday, but enjoyed the prix fixe menu nonetheless. Our server, Meg, was absolutely lovely, and the food was outstanding. Great beer selection, and my wife loved the wine on the tap. Highly recommend for chill dinner with great service & food!"

  • "Great neighborhood spot for brunch. Menu options include classics and innovative dishes so there's something for everyone. The Bloody Mary bar with house infused liquors is a highlight."

  • "Food was very good here, especially if you like your meat medium rare to rare. Service wasn't bad, but also wasn't outstanding. Only real downside was that my girlfriend ordered lamb to be medium, and it was definitely rare. Overall, a good place to go."

  • "The place was cozy and they had a great craft beer menu; however, the food was terrible. Service was not great. It was Valentine's Day though. Service may be better on other days when it's not as busy. I will not be going back to this place."

  • "Took my girlfried here for Valentine's day. One of us did the prix fixe and the other a la carte - everything was wonderful. The ribeye was outstanding, pefectly cooked, and my girlfiend's salmon dish was beautifully plated and delicious. I wish they always had lobster tortelloni on the menu...I would come back for that bisque in a heartbeat. Great place to celebrate any occasion, they always make you feel special from the hostest to the friendly bartenders and servers."

  • "This was a special occasion and we were disappointed in the service and the food. We ordered the from prix fixe menu - my huband and I even ordered the exact same items. However, for all three courses the order brought to the table was wrong which delayed our meal. My husband's soup came 10 minutes after mine. The fish was not cooked as ordered and the desserts had run out and we were given a variety plate, none of which we would have chosen. The jazz trio was great!"

  • "The seasonal menu and great cocktails keep me coming back as much as possible. Visited recently for brunch, which was absolutely wonderful! They started us off with sweet breads & fruit, I had shaskshouka, one of my faves, and it's one of the best I've had. The make your own bloody mary bar is a great way to start the weekend - they infuse vodkas with bacon, celery, horseradish and all sorts of yummy flavors. I'll be back soon!"

  • "Calamari was good, nothing to write home about but the dipping sauce was lovely. My partner detests seafood and enjoyed it anyway. I was happy with my fettuccine, although the pairing of caramelized cioppini and light pork was baffling; the onions often overwhelmed the meat. Grilled steak, cooked to a medium, was excellent in the center but overcooked at both ends. Agnolotti came out hard and the portion size was ridiculously small. One friend completely devoured his veal breast within three minutes, having nothing but praise for it. Desserts (cocoa creme brulee, bananas foster bread pudding) were undoubtedly delicious and a highlight of the meal, but grossly overpriced. Service was absolutely terrific and the atmosphere relaxed."

  • "We visited the London Grill during the holiday week. The menu includes a great many choices and variety of food. All of our entrees were delicious! The waitress was very knowledgeable.and the parking was free on the street out front!"

  • "while the bar is really good there, and service is very nice, the food quality was poor. my salmon came out cold, under cooked (and i like it medium and really don't like dry salmon) and everything else just lacked flavor. again- good alcohol, good vibe, just really bad food."

  • "This was the second year I took my family to the London Grill for Thanksgiving. The food was delicious, our server was pleasant and helpful (she made an excellent wine recommendation). Overall it was a lovely holiday dinner. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to let someone else do the holiday cooking!"

  • "Went to London Grill for Thanksgiving Dinner. For $45 pp, we were offered a buffet that was an array of overcooked, soggy slop that was bland at best, unpalatable at worst. None of us felt well that night. Oh, and they had the NERVE to charge us a 20% gratuity on a SELF-SERVE buffet. The waitress brought waters and coffee! We left $193 poorer, but plenty wiser, believe me."

  • "Great place for casual dining. The food is very good & reasonably priced. The salad I had and the leg of lamb was very very good. After dinner, on various occasions you can listen to great Jazz music by John Vanore and his band in the upstairs restaurant. I will eat there again and recommend it to my friends."

  • "The food was fantastic. We often come for brunch, lunch and dinner and the food is always consistent and flavorful. The portions are good and the service is always friendly and done well. The egg sandwich with ham was incredible as was the amazing side portion of bacon. The lemon rigotta pancakes were also amazing. The menu has regular year-round menus and other seasonal items and the dishes are always fantastic. I always take friends and family here."

  • "No one in my party was completely satisfied with their food. My chicken brie sandwich was poorly put together and the chicken was scarce and at to charred. Everyone else got a pasta dish and was disappointed with the size but said the flavor was spot on. Half way through our dinner the ceiling started to leak. They make they're ice cream in house, which I think is awesome, but I probably won't ever go here again."

  • "We discovered London Grill about ten years ago. We visit Philadelphia once a year and always eat at least one meal there, usually two. Excellent menu, wonderful service, and being next door to Eastern State Penitentiary? Added bonus. There are a number of good restaurants in this area, we've tried most of them. LG is our favorite."
