We were seated within 5 mind of
reservation time, but as the tables next to us went through 3 courses and we received nothing, we began to wonder. The owner asked us how things were going so we had yo be honest. We came to eat but everyone was being served except us for over 1/2 hour. Well per owner computer on the fritz. So was server as I concluded. We finally got great Brussels sprouts, but rest was forgettable. They comped the beer."

Don't miss the Tropical Tacos!
Everything we had was great and unusual - certainly not a typical Mexican restaurant. Food was inventive and pan-Latino. Can't wait to go back!"
Dined on 4/4/2014
we got a bunch of stuff, the
complaints go first: tuna tacos was good but tiny, and it was served in la puddle of brown butter. Who doesn't like a sip of brown butter when hungry? Did we taste the tuna? Dungenness croquettes: fried balls of paste that vaguely tasted like crab, but how much crab? and what kind? it's the rip-off item to avoid. Quesadilla w/ artichoke hearts: same texture for the wrap and the artichokes, the most boring thing. Ceviche du jour: OK, i did not taste fresh scallops but lemons and spices. decor is funky on the slope of bad taste, but who really cares? now the praise: beef tacos was good, lamb sliders too, as well as kale salad. Service was efficient and nice. Wine choices decent."

Excellent food and quirky decor.
Got 3-4 plates for 2 people and was stuffed. Reasonably priced for date night. Left happy."
Dined on 3/20/2014
Saw this place on TV and couldn't
wait to try it! Beyond our expectations, food and service was outstanding. We shall return. Carnitas-best I've ever had!! My wife's seafood tacos on a jicama tortilla were very creative and most delicious, too!"
Dined on 3/28/2014
Excellent food, good service, fun
ambience. Waited 20 minutes for our 10:45 pm reservation which wasn't great. But after we sat down to eat the food made the evening."
Dined on 3/28/2014
I've been to Lolo several times
before and is one of my favorite places in SF. This was our first time at the new location on Valencia. I love the open space so much more. Although, I do miss the outdoor seating. Great service and fantastic food. Can't wait to get again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!"
Dined on 3/22/2014
The new location for Lolo is much
better than the old one. The crazy colorful decor just works better in the bigger space with wonderful tall ceilings. The food is still excellent and now - there's a full bar and margaritas! The staff is friendly and se to be having fun, too. Happy that Lolo is in our neighborhood!"
Dined on 3/21/2014
We could not of had a better time
and the food was very good considering it hard to find great mexican food in SF."
Dined on 3/20/2014
Food is Meh... Decor is quirkily
cute... Service is great Don't understand why people are raving about Lolo. We definitely had better tacos elsewhere! My husband and I had such a big disappointment on the food. Lolo is such a hipster's concentration camp; you go there to "eat the ambience", not the food. Wouldn't recommend real foodies to go there."
Dined on 3/17/2014
That is the best restaurant of
mexican kitchen in SF!"
Dined on 3/17/2014
Our server was hard to get a hold
of at any point during our meal. It took forever to get drinks that we ordered. Food was delivered cold, like it had been sitting in the window for a while before being sent to our table. Overall I liked the flavors of the food, and the drinks were excellent (when we finally got them) but a lot could have been improved upon."
Dined on 3/14/2014
Cheery atmosphere; unique décor
(the most unique in San Francisco); luscious, inventive, fresh food to share with friends; caring and friendly staff; efficient, too! Since you share, it is important to have the dishes timed correctly and they were! Try everything!"

I have loved Lolo since it's
humble beginnings on 22nd street. The staff is wonderful and it's nice to see success come to an original neighborhood eatery. The food is fresh, tasty with realistic portions and without pretense."
Dined on 3/5/2014
The food is quite good, very
creative combinations. The place is popular and lively, and maybe a tad too loud for my taste. However, I'd happily recommend Lolo to anyone."
Dined on 3/4/2014
A great take on mexi-cali fusion
food. The panko breaded avocado taco was the hit! The tables by the kitchen can use some form of ventilation. It gets hot."
Dined on 3/1/2014
Tasty Latin dishes with a little
twist. Awesome shrimp and tuna tacos. Solid, but pricey, drink menu with lots of tequila and mescal based drinks."
Dined on 2/28/2014
Nice new location -- food was as
good as ever and server was very friendly. Meatballs and empanadas were great."
Dined on 2/27/2014
the food was average. we ordered a
bunch of dishes and they all were lacking. i also ordered a few drinks and the sparkling sangria was great. the "mule" i had i was not not a fan of at all. it had a very strange taste but the appearance was fantastic. loved the decor of the resturaunt."
Dined on 2/21/2014
I do miss the old location because
it gave me a sense of being in someones home. The new 974 Valencia location feels more like what it is, a restaurant. I love Lolo. I love the decor and the food and drinks and service. The bartender makes a great Michelada. It's not on the menu but they'll be happy to serve it. The Taco Tropical is a favorite and so is the Dungeness Crab. I also love the Berry Trifle for dessert and be sure to ask the server or bartender about a good mezcal."
Dined on 2/25/2014
The food is a bit incoherent; too
much mayo amidst well priced plates. But the atmosphere is party, party, party."
Dined on 2/22/2014
The food is of extraordinary
quality and artistically plated. Sure, it is a bit expensive for those used to the cheap burrito bombs in SF. But these are obviously labor-intensive creations and they will cost a bit. The restaurant is nevertheless casual, so it is pure happiness. The hostess seemed a bit clueless, however, leaving my lunch partner standing outside the door for 15 minutes while I was seated. What was she thinking? Other than that, service was professional."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Loved the experience of dining at
LoLo. We arrived before our reservation time but they were very gracious and accommodating even when I brought an extra guest. Food was fresh and the mixtures of flavors very unique"
Dined on 2/11/2014
I went with 3 friends who had
never been. We were there the first night in their new, larger location. I had been to the former, smaller location at least 3 times. The food was as good as ever. Service was good, a bit slow, but I can understand that it being the first night open to the public in a new space. The new space is awesome. Decor is fabulous. The size is great. I had a great cocktail and a great bottle of wine. If you've never had this type of tapas, try it!"
Dined on 1/29/2014
What a fun place to go with
friends, or on a date. Delicious food. Small plates to share and good wine to drink. You should definitely try this place."
Dined on 1/7/2014
Friends have recommended Lolo many
times over the years for their casual atmosphere and delicious food, I was delighted to finally have a meal there and be in agreement."
Dined on 1/20/2014
Second time dining at Lolo, first
time at lunch. Brussels sprouts are a definite must. Good bar. All the plates are inventive and interesting."
Dined on 1/17/2014
First of all, Great food, Location
is great, Service really good, Ambience joyful, Fun decor (I'm Mexican this is Naco Chic), I loved it, my husband did, my family too, friends etc... Great concept "Mexican Tapas" as a Mexican I think SF is missing Godd quality mexican food places to eat. I'm tired of only see tons of taco trucks and people (non Mex) think that mexican food is only Tacos... Come and try this place!!!!"
Dined on 1/15/2014
I love this place.. Amazingly
tasty food, good prices , great drinks and reasonable prices.. One of my favorites.."
Dined on 1/15/2014
The tacos and the carnitas are
excellent. They need to work on the quality of the tortillas and to do a better job with the queso fundido"
Dined on 1/11/2014
This was the fifth time that I
went to Lolo's. The food is alway excellent and very unique. You won't find this food anywhere else. Kind of Mexican but just the idea. The execution us very original. In my opinion the small dishes are more interesting than the big one's. Taco tropical is to die for."
Dined on 1/9/2014
Really surprised me. It was very
good and can't wait to go back to try everything else on their menu!! :)"
Dined on 1/2/2014
Everything about this place is
great - food, people, atmosphere - even parking wasn't bad for the Mission. We had a great time."
Dined on 1/6/2014
Lolo is friendly, energetic, cozy,
and charmingly decorated. These master chefs have reimagined all the old standards, tapas style and artfully plated: a partially deconstructed quesadilla on fresh corn tortillas; octopus shaved thin with a pepper sauce to die for; fried Brussels sprouts with hazelnuts and a rich Balsamic reduction; and to conclude, ice cream sandwich sliders wth crisp almond macaroons top and bottom, a ball of homemade ice cream between, and a pitcher of gentle Mexican chocolate sauce. We've been searching for exquisite Mexican for years: this is it. And our dinner for two with smokey margueritas came to a paltry $64 before the tip. Some might call Lolo an ambitious "dive" but for us it was the find of a lifetime."
Dined on 1/2/2014
I just came back from Mexico and
traveled to Oaxaca and Mexico City and this restaurant brought me right back to all the fabulous food I ate there. This place is cool and great initiative food just like on Mexico! Fantastic!"
Dined on 1/2/2014
The menu changes a little bit each
time I come, but the never-fail favorites are always intact. Specials are often excellent as well. There's a variety of healthy and/or vegetarian small dishes and as well as meat-lover dishes... Whatever your preferences, you'll find plenty of delightful and delicious options to satisfy yourself. The cocktails are delectable as well! Some favorites: Tuna Tacón. Brussels Sprouts. Octopus (singular and spectacular!). Corn on the Cob. Carnitas."
Dined on 12/30/2013
Lolo was the perfect spot to
entertain out of town guests who wanted great food and a fun atmosphere. Lot's of small dishes with unique flavors to share. The cocktails were amazing and they had a good wine list."
Dined on 12/23/2013
Have been several times, first by
surprising accident, then as a must get reservation spot. Parking convenient w/bike(many racks out front), and w/the Bartlett garage right there. Smallish, but extremely well decorated utilizing mostly repurposed items in a tasteful, whimsical and fun way. Food is just as fun-neuvo Mexican with lots of local in the mix. The preparation is skilled, and presentation is beautiful. For simple guacamole, the rich flavor shines in conjunction w/lime, seasonings, onion, plus a variety of dipping sauce and chips. The carnitas looks to be a small amount but is simply plenty to go around, and the tacos are so good, it's difficult not to make them an individual entree."
Dined on 9/25/2013
Next time you're in the Mission
District, don't miss Lolo. But reservation is highly recommended. Can't wait until their new (bigger) spot opens in January."
