Diner Reviews
  • "We wanted a special place to dine with our Irish friends on their last night in Santa Fe and L'Olivier was the perfect place. The service, food and wine were excellent. We chose it because of our past experience at L'Olivier and our friends were very impressed."

  • "We eat at L'Olivier at least once a week when in Santa Fe. Great food, reasonably priced."

  • "Had great expectations with lovely setting and cuisine. Wonderful tasting squash blossom tempura appetizer but was tiny with only 3 pieces; very disappointing when we were expecting a little more bounty. Appreciate the care with which chef made creative vegetarian dish with grilled vegetables Napoleon but sweet pepper sauce was not very flavorful. Too pricey for what we got. Wish there were more moderately priced items or smaller plates so we could return, but as it is, it is unlikely we will. Patio is lovely, although our table had a view of a wall that was unattractive - would be nice if there were some flowers or attention there. Service was lovely."

  • "My wife and I have eaten at L'Olivier five or six times since they opened and the food has been excellent every time. It was the first time we sat outside and they have done a great job with the patio. We went there July 4th with our friend who is visiting from France and she was very impressed with the quality and creativity of the food."

  • "Dinner for four and we all shared each other's meals. The food was fantastic! The wine list is good. This was one of the best meals I've ever had, not just one of the best meals I've had in Santa Fe. Highly recommend!"

  • "Excellent French food in Santa Fe, a city with many good restaurants. l'Olivier is among the best."

  • "went to L'Olivier for the the first time on our anniversary this week. we made reservations and could have be seated outside or inside...a little too windy for outside, so inside it was. we were welcomed immediately and had a nice selection of tables. the ambiance was fine, pretty minimal in a french way, which we love. water was served immediately, waiter was helpful and quick. without going in to too much detail, our appetizers, entres, and dessert were outstanding!!! the Châteauneuf-du-Pape was velvety and a great pick. overall i would recommend L'Olivier to any one wanting a very nice place to eat the perfectly prepared food and sample a very fine wine list."

  • "One of the best restaurants in Santa Fe. Extremely talented chef, food was well prepared and presented and above all fresh and delicious !"

  • "Our second visit to L'Olivier wasn't quite as spectacular as our first. The service seemed a bit confused and not as polished as before. The food was good, but not outstanding. Maybe we just hit an "off" day."

  • "I always enjoy Le Olivier restaurant. Food is good to great. Consistency could be improved. I will return and I will recommend."

  • "Food was interesting and well-prepared. Service was attentive but not intrusive. We live in Philadelphia part time and here part time. Philadephia is an incredible restaurant town at the moment so we are very becoming very picky foodies, and this was great food. I highly recommend it."

  • "The squash blooms were the best we have ever tasted."

  • "As usual, the food at L'Olivier was exceptionally well-prepared and the service was attentive. The newly opened. outdoor patio makes for pleasant dining, though there is some noisy traffic passing by on occasion. "

  • "A French restaurant with ... foie gras is defined as the liver of a duck or goose fattened by force-feeding .. and escargot seems odd in Santa Fe. A farm to table city with strong local ties. The food was good. The chef and his wife and staff were delightful. The bar is appealing - and great for stopping in for a luscious sounding salad. W "

  • "This was my first visit but will not be my last. The squash blossom appetizer was the best I have ever sampled. Delightful menu and first class service. Sweet little restaurant and will terrific this summer to eat out in the courtyard. Parking might be a bit tough but worth it for this downtown gem."

  • "This is a new restaurant in Santa Fe. They are still working out their service kinks, which are substantial. The waitstaff is in dire need of training. They do not know from which side to serve or how to place flatware or what glasses goes with which wine. However the all of these things can be learned. The food is delicious and well worth enjoying."

  • "My wife and I had dinner at L'Olivier's on my birthday, because of the reviews it has been getting, and we were not disappointed. I had elk tenderloin which I highly recommend. Service was excellent. The noise level was pleasantly moderate. The kitchen is open so I was able to compliment the chef."

  • "Our group of four foodies found the food delicious, the wine list comprehensive and reasonable, and the service on a busy Saturday night friendly and experienced. It will bevome a regular on our list!"

  • "The quail and duck were excellent. The home-made mango and raspberry sorbet were perfect desserts. "

  • "The restaurant was full the Tuesday night we visited. They were a little short of staff, but we were warmly greeted and seated promptly. The waiter might have been taking care of the whole restaurant, but attented to every need we asked for. We shared the charcuterie, my wife had the short ribs, most tender, and I had the duck breast, which was perfectly cooked to a medium-rare. All the food was tasteful and the restaurat was the highlight of the trip. "

  • "Absolute go to in Santa Fe! Try all the biggies and you will return to dine on remarkable food with Xavier and Nathalie. Elk, squash blossoms, halibut in lobster sauce, foie gras torchon, great wines at reasonable prices!"

  • "After all the hype about this restaurant, I must say I was disappointed. They have done a good job of redecorating this space, but the food was just okay. I had the duck a la orange which was undistinguished and my companion had the short rib which had a huge fat cap. For dessert we had the tarte tatin with beautifully sliced apples but no caramelization so should have been described simply as an apple tart. Service was pleasant although the one waitress was clearly over-extended. All in all, a pleasant, but not memorable dining experience."

  • "We had one of the best dinners in Santa fe on Friday night. The Chop with Merll mushrooms and Risotto was amazing. My wife had a delectable Halibut on Sweet potato puree ( she doesn't normally like halibut) that she loved. Pur first courses were also superb. I had the squash blossoms stffed with Goat cheese in a marvelous sauce. My wife salad of asperagus spears, shaved ham and manchego cheese was terrific. Of course our favorite server, Elise was terrific. We are very fortunate to have this gem in Santa Fe. Carl and Linda "

  • "The sandwiches were teriffic and the day special was fish and chips. The cod was very light and delectly breaded, and the french fries crisp and not greasy. All of meals tasted freshly made. The dessert was an excellent fruit tart. And other thing that makes a good restaurant is great bread, very good coffee and consistency. L'Olivier has met all these criteria."

  • "Unpretentious fine dining near the Plaza. Four of us chose different equally excellent dishes (salad, tuna tartare, soup, escargot) main course (salmon, halibut, veal, duck) dessert (chocolate soufflé, orange trio). Delicately flavored meals. In a town of great restaurants would consider this one of the best new additions. We went because of the chef's reputation. The entire experience was wonderful. One note, in case it matters, is that currently they only serve wine, no hard alcohol. "

  • "My daughter and I were in Santa Fe overnight having just spent the week in Vegas, no lack of great food there! My daughter was in the ood for French so we headed to Open Table and found L'Olivier. We were greeted warmly by the owner and seated at a window table, great start! Our wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable while providing good recommendations. There was a very small hiccup with the squash flower appetizer that our server handled beautifully. I had scallops over parsnip puree and my daughter ordered halibut, both dishes were very well prepared and balanced nicely. The merengue and passion fruit desert was to die for. L'Olivier will be on our list next time we are in town!"

  • "We are frequent visitors to Santa Fe. First trip to this relatively new Santa Fe establishment. The waiter and other servers were knowledgable, friendly and efficient. Indeed, my only complaint is that the food came a bit too quickly. Would have preferred a bit more relaxed pace. Food itself was outstanding! Will go again next time in town."

  • "We had received lukewarm reviews from friends but wanted to see for ourselves. The restaurant presents well-- nice ambience, great friendly service, excellent menu and wine selection. However, our salmon entree was fishy smelling and the short ribs were not as tender as expected. Bread was great, as was squash blossom appetizer. We hope the kitchen can get it together because we'd like L'Olivier to succeed. We believe it has great promise. "

  • "I was in town visiting friends and we decided to compare top restaurants eating out every night for 5 nights. L'Olivier was hands down winner. I had the duck and it was perfect. My friends had scallops and Elk. Everyone agreed every aspect of the meal was perfect. The owner was there and very friendly and knowledgeable. "

  • "Three of us each had an outstanding entree - roast baby chicken, (special) diver scallops with saffron creme and celery root puree, and rack of lamb with minted couscous and olive tapenade. For an appetizer (special) stuffed zucchini blossoms. All with subtle SW flavors. Service was impeccable albeit a little slow (typical for a french restaurant?). "

  • "Small intimate restaurant in Santa Fe. Food and service very good. The only problem was the chocolate soufflé which was overcooked and dry. They did comp us the dessert though which was very nice."

  • "This French restaurant has owners that KNOW what they are doing. The 3 of us had different selections, all were perfect. Delicious and beautifully presented. Wine list extensive and very attentive to customers desires in choosing the best wine. Will become one of my favorites in Santa Fe. "
