A word from Lolita Restaurant
Lolita is a Modern Mexican Restaurant located in Philadelphia in Midtown Village. Originally opened in 2004 by restaurateurs Chef Marcie Turney and Valerie Safran, it underwent a major renovation in 2014 and reopened with a fresh look, a new Mexican street food-inspired menu and a full liquor license.

The extensive full-scale renovation highlights the addition of a 16-seat bar and chef's counter looking into the open kitchen. Lolita seats 45 guests with additional outdoor sidewalk seating in the warmer months. Reservations are accepted every day for lunch and dinner, while seating at the bar and chef’s counter is on a first come, first served basis. We have a full liquor license and accept all major credit cards.

My recent visit to Lolita was prompted by the Restaurant Week promotion. I feel management not only embraced the Restaurant Week purpose, but delivered more than expected. Everything from the "gratis" pre-first course tastes, to the quality and portions of the first, second and third courses, our meals were created to deliver the most interesting, delicious sensory experiences rather than providing the restaurant with adequate profit margins. I loved everything I tasted. More important, I can't wait to return to Lolita to try more of their food! A great experience!

Service was terrible and Our food took about 40 minutes. It seemed like everyone was running around with no direction. We were told that if one of us ordered restaurant week menu that both of us had to. My husband would have preferred something from the regular menu but was not allowed to get it. I was really looking forward to coming here. Super disappointed.

Lolita was delicious! We celebrated my boyfriends birthday, I heard from a couple friends this place was good and he loves Mexican - let's just say he wanted to go back the next day! Service was wonderful, drinks were excellent and the food was top notch! The mango salsa was my favorite!! Such a neat place to dine and great décor as well. Definitely will be going back!

We were there during restaurant week. The food was outstanding. The only down side to the meal was the noise. It was nearly impossible to talk with our felliow diners. Nevertheless, we would return because the food was amazing - fresh, creative, and ever so tasty!

I had been looking forward to trying the new Lolita. I thought the food was pedestrian - nothing special. Surprised to see all the tacos and fried foods on the menu. Thought there would be some innovative takes on Mexican food, but there weren't. This doesn't seem at all like their next door place, Barbuzzo, which is terrific. Many of the menu items seemed to be pulled together to take advantage of the prep at their other restaurants. Noisy. Unlikely to go back.

The Cucumber Margherita was so good we each had two. My friend and I ordered from the Restaurant Dinner Menu. There was good variety to choose from with layers of flavor. Loved the beet and watermelon salad- our waitress asked the chef about the ingredients in the crema. They gladly revealed the components. Making it for a dinner party this weekend. The shrimp was fresh, skirt steak- tender and juicy. We shared the cheese cake and tiramisu . Left happy campers and yes we will come back

Party of 2 visited during restaurant week. All was under control, though very busy, except for chicken Flautas which get no stars -- hard (not crisp) and tasteless once you got through the outside. When half the entree's are like that, you lose a star.

Part of the Tunney-Safran legend is that their restaurants are small and noisy, built for awful acoustics. The other, more significant part, is that the food is so good that the diner doesn't mind the contribution to future deafness. Not so Lolita. I always ask for a quiet table. There may be two, both two-tops on either side of the front door, but there's none for a party of three, which we were. My fish tacos were very good. The rest of my meal was just okay. Too bad for Lolita that my week was bookended by meals at Talula's Garden and Fork.

My experience was okay. The Restaurant Week menu was different from what was online. I had seen the tiramisu on TV and was a bit disappointed. The white sangria was great. The best part of the meal was the chopped salad. That is weird for me to type because I love dessert. My entree had way too much pickled cabbage on my fish taco and the portions were a bit small. The food was good but I would not rave about the overall experience.

There aren't enough stars to rate this meal - every dish was so carefully constructed with an amazing blend of complex, yet complementary flavors in every bite - I can still taste it! We were lucky enough to dine during restaurant week, so our meal began with two complimentary starters: a lovely watermelon, beet, and heirloom tomato salad, and a short ear of corn slathered in some incredible something like butter. An appetizer of seafood tacos far exceeded expectations, and the kale & mushroom enchiladas...well, I'm still dreaming about them - hope they stay on the menu forever. Perfect meal, can't wait to go back for more!

Another restaurant Week find for my wife and I. We discovered the joints around 12th and 13th streets only over the past few years since my wife started working in the city. We live in Bensalem, however we are Philly born and bred!!!! We were served by Corrine, who had a perpetual smile and she was excellent at helping us decide on the menu!!! We did the Restaurant Week $35 dinner and it was great!!! We also had a couple unbelievably refreshing Cucumber/jalapeno Margaritas !!! Will definitely be back!!!

So glad Lolita is back and now serving lunch! We were in and out in about an hour which was perfect for a weekday treat. The food was amazing as usual and service was quick. It's hard to believe that Lolita is even owned by the same dynamic duo that run Barbuzzo, which never fails to disappoint. The food at Nolita is lackluster and the drinks are terrible. They definitely need a different bartender. If you're going to be a high-end Mexican restaurant, you've got to serve a great margarita. Our table tried 4 different ones, and all were watery. Though there was a difference in opinion at our table, I thought the guacamole was outstanding.

good food overall, though I would say their tacos let me down a bit versus the masa and other apps. The tables are smushed in together and not the best for two people. Had a date night dinner for two and we were sat at a table for 6 with 4 others (i.e., it was three 2-person tables smushed together), our table was pulled literally 1.5 inches from the group of 4 to make a 2 person table. that really killed the experience for me; I think I'd go back with friends, just not a date. others: great service (hostess could be friendlier though) never picked up the phone when I called three times ahead of time an hour before the reservation looking for information

The food is so much more casual now, and I think it fits the vibe of the place so much better. The guacamole was awesome as were the fish tacos and the trompo tacos. Lolita is awesome! It is a quaint bistro serving what it calls "Mexican Street food". It is not the Americanize garbage that so many of us have consumed. The menu is creative, the food is delicious and presented in a very artful and appealing manner. Everything we ordered - the portion size dish and the small plates were delightful. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again soon. And I have told several foodie friends about this great find.

My significant other and I were looking for a new place to try in center city. Upon walking into Lolita, we were instantly entranced. Their quaint setup coupled with their outdoor seating was great. The waitress informed us that the restaurant had recently been renovated. Kudos to the work they put in - the final product was very enjoyable. As for the food - absolutely fantastic. I tried the original guacamole, tuna tostados and carnitas y panza tacos. Each new plate brought out was more delicious than the last. I am very eager to return to Lolita in the future and would wholeheartedly recommend to any and everyone.

The food at Lolita is truly amazing. Our party of 4 ordered 6 dishes between us and were delighted with all of them. The one significant critique I would make is that on the night I visited, the set-up of the tables was such that there was so little room to move about that a wheelchair user could not make his way from the table to the restrooms.

We eagerly anticipated the re opening of Lolita. They closed for months to renovate & add a bar. We both had a different margarita & neither one was very good. The alcohol was either watered down or a minimal amount. Actually the restaurant is already quite small so the bar addition did nothing for us. We enjoyed all of our dishes which were mainly the seafood selections and the guacamole appetizer with the great red smoky salsa. The service was attentive but not overly so. The atmosphere is definitely energetic & we dined pre-theater on a weeknight.
