Really enjoyed dinner and drinks at this tightly themed, tequila, Mexican, Dia de Los Muertos themed spot. In spite of being a basement location, they used it for their advantage to build a dark, smoky, intimate, spontaneous ambience. In spite of the clear attention paid to decor and overall energy of the restaurant, the food actually lived up to the expectations (I have often found this to be the tension in most Boston based restaurants: good ambience, weak food execution. Good food, weak ambience/service). A fun amous bouche of grapefruit and tequila granita was a particularly unique way to start the meal (everyone wants dessert first!). A hefty basket of chips and salsa came quickly. This was actually the only problem: too much. The basket is the size of a soccer ball filled to the brim and it's hard not to indulge. Three great salsa varieties did not help. By the time we got to our main dishes (carnitas and a baked chicken leg, both oversized proportions and fine tasting), we were already stuffed. That being said, everything looked and tasted good. Get yourself a reservation and a group to share it with for a good night out Downtown.

One of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. This is coming from two people with thirty combined years in the restaurant industry. The only thing that could have made it better would be to offer a valet service. Keep up the great work and your unique style.

Inlove this place. Everything is perfect, except for the guy in the entrance. He thinks he owns the place and is rude! At the end of the night we were waiting for our taxi to arrive and he kick us out to the cold with very bad manners. He was even ironic saying that he knew it was cold because he was there all night long. Apart from him the place is amazing

My friend and I have been going to Lolita's every Monday night for their infamous $7 tacos, and can I just say that their service and food never disappoints. Our waitress this time was Julia, and not only did she consistently make sure that we didn't run out of any food, but she was also fun to talk to and made us feel welcome. The drinks were strong and delicious as usual, and the atmosphere was fun yet relaxed.

Lolita is a really solid place to visit. Besides the free grapefruit tequila ice, mountain of chips, and 3 kinds of sauces, and complimentary cotton candy at the end of the meal, it's amazing anyone has room for food here. Great drinks, awesome appetizers (get the corn), and even the sides are great (get the brussel sprouts). Most entrees are a really solid choice. Try the ribeye tacos with horseradish and onion strings, wow.

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I must say that it was amazing, exactly what we needed!! I had a group of about 9 people and we all loved it here and are already trying to plan a night to go back! Great décor, great people (so different from the usual bar scene (less of the just turned 21 lets rage kind of people)), trendy atmosphere. Loved that they had complimentary chips with salsa at the start of our meal and complimentary cotton candy with our check! If you are looking to dine in here though make sure you make a reservation! The only downside is the service is slower but if you have a great group like I did you barely notice the lag!

I'd never been there before, but was very impressed. We made a reservation for 12. Our server knew his stuff, and could speak at length about every item on the menu, even speaking to the textures and tastes from eating each dish. We asked his advice and he had a bunch of great selections, several of which we tried. The menu was diverse, and definitely "chef-y", with lots of neat combinations of flavors. The drink menu was equally interesting, with many drinks I'd never seen before, and combinations that were great. We tried a bunch of different things, and they were all great. The little touches like the grapefruit sorbet palette cleanser and the cotton candy with pop rocks when we got the check were great additional touches too.

This place was amazing. Took our group for a work dinner and was not disappointed. The service was a tad slow, but not enough to annoy us. Corn bread- best I've ever had ( and I live in Georgia) Shrimp ajillo: jumbo shrimp packed with flavor Lime garlic chicken: cooked to perfection and full of labor- the aave Brussel sprouts were incredible Lastly, although the flavor was great for the cuatro leches, the cake was too dense. Definitely a cool touch with the cotton candy at the end! I would come back every week and have become a huge Lolita advocate

My husband and I are Mexican food aficionados. We have been to just about every Mexican restaurant in the area and this place far exceeded my expectations. Yes it was a special occasion for us, so that made the night special anyway but the vibe and the food and the service here was just awesome. The drinks were all made with fresh ingredients and I think I went to heaven. Unfortunately I waited too long to do this review so I don't remember exactly what I ate or drank but I remember how much I loved everything I had. As I recall we got a trio of guacamole which was made up of three different types of guacamole and that was amazing too. I don't live nearby but I cannot wait to go back.

My husband and I were very impressed. We loved everything we ordered and we ordered alot! The service was lightning fast. We loved the extras...and I'm not going to say it and spoil the surprises that await newcomers. We had a great date night. My only complaint is that it was SO loud that I had a hard time talking to him. I wouldn't go back with another couple because I would struggle to communicate. It was fine for just the two of us.

This is an unexpected little gem! I thought it was going to be kitchy & average food... very happy to report that the food was very good, the atmosphere is fun, dark, romantic & goth! Highly recommend checking this place out, definitely great change of pace to boring dining venues. Starters: meat balls (w/mole sauce) & chorizo, both were great tasting. Trio of salsas are fantastic & a nice change from the typical one note you're offered at Mexican spots. Main selections: lime & garlic chicken and Crispy Pork, both were great tasting & we'd order again. Dessert: don't pass up the Chocolate BreadPudding option! It's more like a brownie with espresso ice-cream & hot fudge, not heavy just yummy! Margarita: our fave, go classic w/AVION tequila

Sat night, my boyfriend&I were de-virginized by Lolita& it was an experience we'll seek again. Passing by this spot during the daytime leaves one curious as the door with Lolita above it is all you see.Is it a speak easy, does someone really like their name&, they named a store after it, but then you see the menu (at night, a bouncer)& you realize I have to see what this place is about. Definitely, make a reservation, the bar is small& not every patron will allow you space to yell a drink order&the bartenders don't necessarily see you 2or 3 rows back, you'll be thankful you secured a spot. Its dark&deliciously vampy inside, fair amount of non-dining lush spots to lounge in, noisy with a young professionals crowd, food tasty, tequila smooth.

We made reservations for Lolita for my birthday. The interior and atmosphere were fantastic. It's absolutely a romantic and dramatic place. The food is very good and I enjoyed the appetizer with the chips and house made salsas. The Brisket Tacos were really good and the Ginger Peach Sangria was the highlight of the night. We're from Texas now living in the Boston area, so we are always looking for some great Tex-Mex. While Lolita, is not Tex-Mex, it had some great flavors and great food. We got the blackened shrimp queso for an app. It came out piping out & was absolutely delicious. We also order some margaritas, which were great too. The ambiance is also great. Kinda dark, but bright at the same time. We will definitely keep Lolita on our list of places to come back too!

I had booked a table for twelve 6 weeks in advance yet, amazingly, when I arrived, they had no record of it. Finally, when I showed them my Open Table confirmation, they said they would try to help us out. To their credit, they accommodated us, but it wasn't "oh, I'm so sorry for our mistake" attitude I would have expected. All this considered, the food and drink are good here, in a boisterous, subterranean setting.

My girlfriend and I both enjoyed our time spent at Lolita. The ambiance of the restaurant and bar was interesting and added a bit of excitement. We were pleased to not see the typical sombrero and disheveled look of a Tex-Mex place, but more of a risque approach to design. The reason to come here was definitely the mojitos (soooooo good). The food was good, we both enjoyed the salmon dish I ordered, but the soupy vertical nachos left much to be desired (though if one enjoys queso dip this might not be so bad). We definitely enjoyed all the little touches that made our dining experience great.

Great late night spot! Went in for a 1045 reservation with a party of 4, and even though there was a little miscommunication and slow start, our server Justin noticed the issues without anything being said, and he was quick to make sure we were all happy and well accommodated. The drinks are really fantastic, and the food is really fun, always hits the spot. Try the corn! It's delicious! For drinks the White Lie and the strawberry rhubarb concoction are out of this world. We all left really happy and excited to come back. Thanks Justin for really taking care of us!
