Diner Reviews
  • "Nice server without any pretentious attitude. Ceviche was fanastic and the portions were unexpectedly generous."

  • "I love the ceviche - it's a must. The steak is amazing as well. People are nice, cocktails are great - perfect date spot."

  • "Everything is great at this place. Loved the empanadas and croquetas! The seabass skewer was also a bit hit. The bourbon shake and churros for dessert were absolutely divine!"

  • "My girlfriend and I took our good friends here for their first anniversary. The ambience, food and wine list are fine (although less than original), but the service from our server was shameful. She was snooty, inattentive, and unapologetic with her errors. Although something we've never done, we asked to speak to the manager about it and he only offered a perfunctory "sorry" and made no effort to ensure us that our next dining experience would be better. That said, we definitely will not recommend Lolinda's to any of our contacts."

  • "Our party of 4 started at the techo upstairs on a Friday evening. Amazing weather and great drinks. They could use more waitresses up at the roof. Downstairs our reservation was at 8pm, we were seated promptly and had excellent service and food. Great place for happy hour upstairs and great food and ambience downstairs. 5 stars!"

  • "Enough Said. The food was great. Very authentic. Good Malbecs on the wine list. I would prefer some more options of Malbec's on the list. But over all very good. Meat was very well done."

  • "The server from start to finish was one of the worse ever. She forgot each order, cocktail , water preference and wine preference. A total amateur. Any good manager would have noticed her lackluster service. When called on it she turned the other way and walked away. One time even rolling her eyes. Keep servers like this and your doors will close very soon. Food was decent but she ruined the night. Either re train her or terminate her because she is a detriment to your business."

  • "We approached Lolinda with great anticipation, as we are aficionados of Argentine food (Since the early 1990s: 2 trips to Argentina, including Buenos Aires, Bariloche, Cordoba, etc., etc.), and a number of field trips to Gardel's in LA (on Melrose)). Our party of 4 had 2 different beef dishes and a sea-bass skewer and empanadas (veggie). All were were tasty. The fish ceviche was the only stand-out. The cooked kale was tough, with large stems. The wine is list overpriced, given that there are many, many, many excellent Argentine, Spanish and California wines that could have been featured at under $40. Give the customer a couple of more less expensive options. Our experience was dampened by abrupt and arrogant attitude of the waiter."

  • "Lolinda rocks....food always amazing, interesting, great flavors, lots of options, beverages are all on point, service generally good to great. was with a party of 4 recently and had a great meal, each dish as good as the next....the high point on this occasion was Mia our server...she was in control enough to get the job done but not hovering, engaged humorously when appropriate and sincerely, never missed a beat...great service."

  • "Food was great and the service was remarkable! A little loud if you want a quite romantic night and the portion is small, but well worth it."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "The food, service, and ambiance were all enjoyable. One thing I must also compliment the restaurant on is that though two of our party were 30 minutes late on a busy night, they held our table without any hassle."

  • "What a pleasant surprise for a Monday night! Hidden gem indeed, the menu is full of fantastic options and the ambiance feels rich and romantic. We started with the beef tartar and the ceviche mixto. The tartar with horseradish aioli atop crostini was awesome, just a shame there's only 3 to an order! The ceviche was A+! I could eat 5 orders of this. The dish was bold with citrus, yet spicy and savory all at the same time. For dinner we ordered the skirt steak. The chimichurri was excellent and carried the meat. For veg we opted for the charred artichoke. It was delicious, so much so that I didn't even need the lemon aioli which accompanied. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a departure from your everyday haunts. We will be back!"

  • "We arrived early, yet were greeted and seated promptly. We had the asado mixto and every bite was delicious- the steak, the chorizo, the potatoes, peppers, the bread- and the chimichurri was perfect. I poured it on everything. We drank a delicious red wine, Malbec, that went perfectly with the meal. Our server was excellent, friendly, and not overbearing. I will be remembering this meal for a long time, highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely return."

  • "Everything was to die for, especially the ceviche and the octopus small plates. The cocktails are yummy as well."

  • "You'll love the small platos and the large! Mix and match.. share with a friend. The beef is grilled on a wood fire to perfection. The sides and tapas we chose--artichokes, potatoes, leek soup--divine! Do go.. gritty neighborhood, but not unsafe."

  • "This was a really nice, fun restaurant in the mission. Although the food was really hyped up for me, I was not fully as impressed as I thought I would be. However, the ambiance was so great that it was a really enjoyable experience."

  • "The place was surprisingly loud, but that's fine. However, the portions were pretty small, yet, delicious. We ordered the mixed platter for 2 and it's something I usually eat by myself and more, it's very small, and they didn't include enough meat. Overall the place is a good place to go as a group and have fun and eat delicious food."

  • "Extra points for the waitress who recognized us, and greeted with a warm welcome. Great food, great service as always. Keep up with great work."

  • "Lolinda is surrounded by markets and a working-class neighborhood. But behind it's metal facade, is a jewel! The food was amazing! The service was great, and, for San Francisco, the prices were alright. My friend and I shared dishes family-style. We had the beef tartare, the croquettes, quinoa salad, skirt steak, papas and the Churros. If you eat nothing else, at least have the Churros."

  • "We sat at the bar and received exceptional service. The food was innovative and exquisitely prepared -- the tongue was just heavenly."

  • "The food at Lolinda is great. Our waitress was also very good. Good wine list! It's a big room with really high ceilings so it gets loud. One member of our party had a lot of trouble hearing the conversation. Just something to consider when going. The hostess.... needed an attitude adjustment. She was quite rude and simultaneously fake."

  • "We decided to venture out and try something a bit more adventurous than the standard steakhouse. This place provided a great dining experience. The steaks were delicious as well aa the tapas."

  • "We've probably been to this restaurant 5 or 6 times now. Since our first dinner only a few weeks after its opening to our most recent feast, we've never been disappointed. The food is absolutely fantastic - special favorites the ceviche, empanadas, bone marrow, ribeye, and new favorite dessert, the flourless chocolate cake. Service has always been helpful and with a smile. We love the fact that the dishes are designed to be share family style. Definitely best for groups though plenty of couples this last time we were there. Hope to be back soon!"

  • "I would say the food was 3,5 stars. Chumichurri was excellent, the rest was very average. Empanadas are better at the Ferry building, steak was burnt (little bit of charcoal on the steak would be great, but it was way to much). Service was also very so-so. Seemed that the waitress was very distracted and we constantly had to wait for her. Overall, there are much better places in SF for the same amount of $$$."

  • "the ribeye is the very best, we also loved the empanadas and the ceviche. I ordered an old fashioned, and it tasted like straight up bourbon - they seemed to have forgotten the bitters/simple syrup, etc. fun with friends, but on the loud side, so, dont expect an intimate conversation."

  • "Noise is so high it is not fun anymore: you can hear yourself eat nor listening to your party... Food is not really Argentinean just some fancy names given to some very basic US meat cuts. Service, under the useful pretex of " family style" stinks: 20 minutes between the arrival of our main dishes... One was finished when the rest of our table started. Dishes size is not Argentinean either more "nouvelle cuisine". Bar is superb ."

  • "My server Paula is the best!!! The food and drinks are awesome! I just feel disappointed with the reception. Since I started coming to Lolinda I feel that whoever is upfront, are not very friendly and welcoming..."

  • "Excellent food. Service this time was spotty. Server didn't check back for 2nd round of drinks & was not the friendliest. Food runner great."

  • "Dining experience marginal. Our rib eye steak was tough and a bit overcooked. Would not probably go back"

  • "Lolinda is my favorite places to eat steak in San Francisco. It's not about the service. It's not about the atmosphere. There's plenty of places like that in SF. The food! Damn it's really good. Not every single thing is good but the things that are, the are amazing! The steak... The best. I'm pretty picky about steak and food in general. If I can eat after I'm full I think that's a sign that it's good. I can keep eating and eating and eating. Eat here you won't regret it. Make sure to get the gaucho ribeye if you get a chance..... Amazing!"

  • "They probably wouldn't call themselves a steak house, but this place has some of the best steak and pork chops I've had in the city. Everything is good here."

  • "I came in with a couple of friends for a small celebration. Our server, Max, guided us to some of the best wine Ive ever had (usually its all grape juice to me), and was really knowledgeable about the food and had a great sense of humor. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! The Pork chop and meats were the most perfectly cooked you can get. The quinoa salad ranks among one of my favorites. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, even if you're just around for a few small plates!"

  • "Went here for my 23rd birthday with a group of friends. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the food very much. It's tapas meaning you gotta do family style. Places like this, I never leave full but it's great to try different varieties. Would go here again. It's a place where you can dress up a bit and since it was a special occasion, I most certainly did dress up and not feel out of place. There are two bars. One upstairs and one downstairs."

  • "I've been here several times and the food is consistently great. Personally, it's my favorite place to eat in the city right now. "

  • "Loved the location, decor, etc. Empanadas are very good - all of them. Drink list was not my thing. I'm always up for an new list of cocktails but you need to have the standards available if people want them. No vodka zone....Wine list was okay but overall, I think the bar upstairs might be the highlight."

  • "The food was quite good. They were out of both the flank & skirt steak which was disappointing but the NY strip was very flavorful. The pork chop was the winner however. Also we loved the charred artichoke and the quinoa salad. Both worth ordering. If you are a party of 4-5 try not to get the half moon booths that line the side. It is impossible to talk to each other. Noise level very high but a vibrant scene & cool atmosphere. "

  • "My sister and I went here to celebrate our birthdays. While the noise level was quite high, after a while we got accustomed to speaking loudly enough so we could hear each other. The food was great - corn empanadas and skirt steak especially very tasty - but the big winner was the two desserts we chose. The churros came with two dipping sauces - both amazing, and the peanut butter mousse was to die for. Would definitely return to this restaurant the next time we're in the city!"

  • "The food was absolutely fabulous!! Our server (Shai) was not shy and she was super helpful in recommendations! Can't wait to come again. "

  • "Loved the concept, menu, and looks of the space. But none of the dishes were standouts -- none bad, just not better than okay (shisito peppers, artichoke, ceviche -- although the corn fritters were great, blood sausage, short ribs). When the music was on -- about half the time we were there, erratically -- it was deafening/unpleasant in a full restaurant. When they turned it off, we could hear each other. "
