Diner Reviews
  • "Very friendly service and great food! The food was good, service excellent, and atmosphere very charming. We will be back!"

  • "Had lunch at Lola's - we're really hoping to try some of their dinner tapas but they only serve them at dinner. But the roasted turkey panini I had was the best I've ever had. I substituted mustard aioli for herb aioli and it was delicious (I don't like mustard). But next time I visit phx I intend to go for dinner - in particular their seafood paella!!! The 'Yard' looked like a very fun place for the late 20s early 30s crowd."

  • "Remembering the old location, so excited. Having the hostess rest against the back of my bench the entire duration of my meal...ick. Actually felt her hair brush up against my back at one point. Our waitress had never opened a bottle of wine before and had no idea of the requirements for packaging it when we left. Tortilla espanola was fantastic-love that sauce and capers. Seafood paella could have been spicier, but Tabasco, cholula and some black pepper helped. It's not the same Lola's, but it was still nice. Would have loved dessert choices besides donuts and muffins (WTH?) Not the quiet relaxed atmosphere we enjoyed on Camelback (or even the pop-up), but at this point, Phoenix doesn't offer quiet dining."

  • "This wasn't my first time at The Yard, but it was the first time at Lola at the Yard. Overall, it was a good experience. The menu is a little confusing because there are only a few tapas selections, but then there are side selections, which could technically also be tapas. What we ordered was mostly pretty good. The BLT toast was delicious, although the bread was pretty impossible to cut and the chunks of pork belly were a little large and a bit chewy. Would've preferred some crispness there. The tortilla espanola was really good, as were the green chile sliders. The paella was pretty good, but they were a little miserly with the seafood. Server was almost too attentive, checking in every 3 minutes and winking a lot."

  • "Lola Tapas used to be one of our favorites. It's great that it's back. While it's very good, the food is not as great as the old place. The ambiance and restaurant design is superb, although, we were there on a Friday night and the noise of The Yard made it challenging to had a conversation. We will definitely go back."

  • "After living through the disappointment of the Original Lola's closing, we are thrilled to have her back! Our recent dining experience at the new Yard location reminded us of why we loved it so! Excellent food preparation with exotic flavors and some old favorites (Gabanzos and Spinach, and Gambas ) are thankfully still on the new menu! The Gambas (Garlic Shrimp) and Traditional Paella entrees are a MUST! Entrees can be shared as part of the Andalusian Tapas experience! The inside tables are still communal style fronting the YARD. (Just ignore the boisterous, noisy, and crowded adult play pen)! Our only suggestion is that the Sangria glasses MUST be larger. They are small and did not contain any fruit; although still great tasting! "

  • "We were able to make a reservation so that was awesome! Bruschetta was good but the bread needed to be a toasted a bit more because it got soggy quickly. Other than that it was very good. The shrimp was awesome, my friend got the tomato soup and grilled cheese and said it was wonderful! Another friend got the steak and he enjoyed it. I got the classic paella and it was good but the chorizo was not as flavorful as I would have expected. Great Sean Minor Cabernet was available. Fun place for dinner but watch out for flying ping pong balls! Service was ok. Our waiter was nice but a little dingy. "

  • "Paella flavor was very good. The rice was a bit under-cooked. "

  • "So much of the food was absolutely wonderful. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The eggplant dish needed work. Sangria is great. The management is eager for feedback so that they can adjust when necessary. They really seem driven to thrive at the yard. "

  • "Food wise it's a 2.5, but the place and the coffee made it up for the 4th star. If you've never eaten authentic Spanish dishes, you'll be pleased. Otherwise you'll be disappointed. The olives were good. The Gambas al pil pil were also OK. The traditional paella was good but more a risotto than a paella. Too creamy, different kind of rice, but the saffron hint and the chorizo were tasteful. The tortilla was ok. A little burn and dry. The wine selection is limited and most of the wines are NOT Spanish, AYFKM? A Spanish themed place and no Spanish wine? Now the coffee. I tried the cold brew and the kopi luwak. Both pretty good. The coffee paraphernalia is also worth the visit! I'll be back for good coffee and a snack! Cheers"

  • "Sad there was actually no tapas and the wine list was nothing to get excited about. We were actually so disappointed we almost left to go over to Lil Cleo's. The large community tae would be fun if it didn't have a giant pot slot in the middle that made conversation awkward and difficult."

  • "We LOVED the old Lola's on Camelback and were so sad when they closed their doors! When having drinks at the Yard (which shares the same parking lot and building with Lola's - which the parking is terrible), we were super excited to see it back!! My personal favorites was the gambas (shrimp). We ordered them, but the recipe seems to have changed. We will go back to try some of the other dishes. The restaurant is still new and I'm sure working the kinks out. We are SO happy to see Lola's back!"

  • "Really enjoyed our time here. The tapas recipes sounded similar to the original, but they all tasted a bit better, or had new twists. The sangria was much better than I remembered as well. Service was great too. "

  • "I know that the Yard concept has been criticized heavily in many reviews due to the poor service, but Lola's is doing something right. The service is beyond friendly and efficient. Our server was attentive and knowledgable, especially since I am gluten-free (not one of those fads either a true Celiac). He even went to verify with the kitchen to make sure that everthing was safe for me. The food was very good, even the tortilla Española which I have to say other Spanish restaurants have blanded it down and dried it out so badly, not the case here. The Pollo con Romesco was grilled to perfection. And last but not least the Sangria, delicious and not over priced. Keep it up Lola's and next time some Chorizo and Flamenco possibly added!"

  • "This place is a great addition to The Yard. You can enjoy amazing tapas and wine within a setting that is removed from some of the craziness of the The Yard. My wife and I went for dinner and weren't sure what to expect. We love going to the Yard to have drinks and play some ping pong but wouldn't usually go for a date night. After experiencing it we agreed it works for a quite night for two or with a big group. We will be back soon."
