Diner Reviews
  • "Our server Steve was great. He took the time to go over the menu, and stopped by our table every time we needed anything. Without having to flag him down. Our plates were picked up as soon as we were done with each course, our bottle of wine was waiting for us and our glasses were filled without having to ask. The added touch of dessert with our special occasion notated on it was a very nice touch. The food was presented beautifully and cooked great. I could not have picked a better locale for our dinner. Thank you."

  • "This was my first experience at a Michael S. Restaurant and it was fantastic. It is a high energy bar and dining area. The bar was amazing. I met a lovely lady from California. The hostess was graceful and professional and my bartender practically read my mind. My dinner was beyond my every expectation and my server was professional, attentive, knowledgeable and very gracious, not to mention she was attractive and appropriately attired. It is noisy, but that's Lola's. If you want an intimate dining experience speak w the staff to learn if they can accommodate you. For me, I checked it off my bucket list and loved it."

  • "I had family in from out of state and they wanted to have a special dinner at Lola's since they are a huge Michael Symon fan. Trust me when I say you DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!! We had an absolutely wonderful meal. We loved the atmosphere and I guarantee, I will definitely be back and if they come back to visit next year we will either go back to Lola's or try Lolita's since I know no matter which one we go to, it will be awesome."

  • "It was a surprise birthday dinner for my wife. The staff went out of there way to make it special. Our table and the atmospher good not have been better. The food was unbelievable fantastic."

  • "Food was very good with a creative twist. Beef cheek pierogis are fabulous for an appetizer. Steaks were cooked perfectly, skirt steak w/pickle juice was perfect. Drinks very chic, large beer menu as well. Definitely a keeper"

  • "My boss and I took 2 clients on Tuesday, and it was packed (reserved a table that afternoon, next time will do earlier). Had the lamb loin, cooked in duck fat, cooked "as rare as possible" -- delicious! I also enjoyed the beet salad. Great bar selection, too, but did not have much opportunity to explore that. Next time I would like to try a seafood dish, as I hear they are known for that. Very satisfied!"

  • "We sat sat at the so called Chef's Table which is really just a table in front of the kitchen. No special menu, no special service. We had very high expectations based on past dinners at Roast in Detroit and friends who highly recommened Lola. The drinks and desert were good. The first loaf of bread we receive was dry and overcooked. The pierogie was undercooked and doughy, even after we complained and received another order. The main courses were just OK. Not worth the price and just did not live up to the expectations we had. Over rated. Over hyped. Just ok. Will we be back? No. I'll add that we have family in Cleveland that said the same thing about just being mediocre and we had hoped our experience would be different. Disappointed."

  • "From the wine to the food, to the service, to the special "anniversary" dessert, everything was terrific! They made our anniversary dinner one to remember."

  • "Our waitress was very knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was fantastic...we would go there if we were within 50 miles of the restaurant again! Loved it!"

  • "We celebrated my wife's birthday with another great dinner at Lola's. Always great food. If I had one complaint, it would be the need to expand the menu some as it is really eclectic and most items we wouldn't care to order, but the steaks are outstanding."

  • "Lola offers a unique experience with foods not normally offered at many restaurants. Upscale dining, very good cocktails. The scallops were best ever & we eat many scallops when dining out. Appetizers were good. A little disappointed they were out of morel mushrooms."

  • "We were in town for a wedding and came in early to have lunch at Lola. What was a reservation for two, quickly turned into a party of nine. The staff at Lola were highly accomodating and pleasant. The food lived up to the hype. The steak was cooked perfectly with great flavor and the scallops were the best I ever had, but the best thing we ate was the beef cheek perogies. Highly recommend those as an appetizer."

  • "Ordered the Calf's Heart - it was great. The rest of table had high comments on their food as well. The wine list was unique, but they didn't carry any the better Merlos/Cabs."

  • "Who knew that one could go to Lola for lunch and find incredible food and service for the price of a sandwich anywhere else?! Equally suitable for business lunch and those time constraints as well as a lunch with friends that allows a bit more time. Fabulous service."

  • "I've been to Lola before on multiple occasions, and in many ways I leave feeling the same way: underwhelmed. The dishes, while always tasty, lack soul. The menu is largely the same and the dishes are prepared the same way every single time - not a drop more, not a drop less. Obviously consistency is a desirable quality to a great restaurant - but for whatever reason, Lola feels like a food factory churning out the same old same old."

  • "This was our second visit to Lola. We drove from Niagara region, Ontario Canada. We hit a terrible storm on the way this time. We were both so happy with our choices and with our server Steve. He answered any questions we had about the menu and ingredients. Rocco said the pig ears alone were worth the drive! He also was in heaven with the sturgeon. I had the hanger steak for the second time. It was even better than I had remembered. We indulged in dessert and I had a chocolate martini which was perfect. I love watching the action in the kitchen from our seats, which by the way were the same we had for our anniversary last year. We wish Michael Symon would open a restaurant in Buffalo, as we are very close. Thank you Chef Symon"

  • "This was our first time on 4th street so we made reservations at Lola. We were not disappointed! Perfect night to sit outside, a nice waitress, and good food."

  • "If you're looking for inventive combinations of ingredients, a vibrant atmosphere and good wine and drink list search no further. Portion sizes are perfect and you taste buds will be delighted. Try the pork cheek pirogi as an app and the scallops or flat steak as an entree."

  • "We tried the fish menu and it was excellent. Both the halibut and the sturgeon were perfectly cooked and delicious. The special soup: corn bisque was also an unexpected find."

  • "Cleveland has a surprisingly wonderful downtown food scene - good food, lovely flowers, terrific closed-street location. The pork belly app was disappointing, but the hanger steak was the best ever. Hubby couldn't remember what he had, but said that it was Iron Chef-worthy."

  • "My friend and I were on a road trip from New York City to Chicago. Upon learning we were stopping in Cleveland, I immediately booked reservations at Lola. This restaurant was the perfect treat - the food was amazing. We split a few appetizers (crispy pork ears, bone marrow, beef cheek pierogies, beet salad), the pork loin entree, and a dessert. The bone marrow and beet salad (particularly the burrata) were heavenly. My friend found the crispy pork ears to be too fried for her taste. I loved the deconstructed s'mores and thought this was much improved compared to other s'mores dishes I've had at other fine dining establishments (ie, Per Se). Anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion (or merely splurge) should visit Lola!"

  • "The best scallops I have ever eaten! The waitress was knowledgable and very professional. The service was wonderful. We never had an empty glass of water on our table. A great selection & variety on the menu. The only con was that it was a little noisy."

  • "This by far is one of the best places in cleveland. The service was good. But the food AMAZING!!!!!!!!!. From the very inovative apps to the main course it was exceptional . Ps try the crispy pig ears . And the mushrooms for the side ."

  • "Our first experience at Lola's definitely won't be our last! We were celebrating our anniversary and it could not have been nicer. I had scallops which were delicious and my husband had the halibut which he said was the same. Servers were wonderful and so hardworking! We appreciated the attention to our celebration which we did not expect but was very welcome. A very memorable evening!"

  • "Lola's was a wonderful experience! WE started with the beef cheeks pirogis , and bone arrow cntinued with sharing entre of moulard duck. Not sold on the marrow ,fatty and too rich for us. We ended our meal with the chocolate peanut butter mousse, wow! Awsome finale! More interesting ,the portions were perfect, the wine list was extensive and can accommodate all budgets from the extravagant to the budget conscious dinner. The location was interesting, nestled in the 4th street closed off to pedestrian traffic with the bustling evening crowd promenading while we enjoyed our meal. Valet parking was conveniently next to the restaurant . The service was impeccable as well. We highly recommend Lola's!"

  • "Came from out of town with some friends for a weekend and went to Lola for dinner before a ball game. Staff was very friendly and accomodating and made sure we managed to make it through our meal both without feeling rushed and with ample time to make it to the field for the first pitch. In addition to a great menu (everything was expertly prepared, with layers of intricate and unique flavors across each of of our dishes), the wine list was very well done, with orders able to be entered on a tablet (so you can search by region / grape, look at tasting notes, etc.) and with good bottles available across multiple price points. All in all a fantastic meal; would definitely go back."

  • "Hey it's Michael Simon! Before he was TV star, he was and is a culinary super star. The gem of Cleveland that makes you feel like you're in New York City. Don't pass up the bone marrow appetizer, it is to die for!"

  • "Have not been on vacation in ten years since our son has gone through twelve years of cancer related problems. Dinner in our home town was all we would do for fun. This brought back the flavor of one of the finest dinners we have had. I should have tipped the chef and staff for a job well done!"

  • "We dined outside, our waitress without any fuss arranged the umbrella perfectly for us so that we were all comfortable. I started with the bib lettuce salad and the others had the vegetable soup. The salad was so subtle in seasoning and just the right amount of goat cheese. The main courses and desserts followed in this dreamy absolutely perfect dining experience. Pleasantly surprised at how affordable this was, we will be returning soon."

  • "We were in Ohio on vacation, and I knew that Lola was a Michael Symon restaurant. I've watched him on tv for many years, so I was so excited to check this restaurant out! I was not disappointed. Everything there was fantastic. The only negative thing I have to say is that it was very noisy in there and hard to hear my dinner date. Other than that, everything was great!"

  • "From the moment we walked in to Lola we were treated exceptionally well. The staff were very polite, friendly, and accommodating. The meal was unbeleavable. For appetizers we had the bone marrow and the crispy pig ears, both were delicious. For our entrees we had the scallops and rib eye, both of which were prepared perfectly. If I ever come back to Cleveland I will definitely be returning."

  • "I thought the food was delicious. The only problem is that for the price, the amount of food that is served is inadequate. This includes the salads, the entres, the ale cart sides & desert. For example, if you order the carrot cake you will not get a piece of cake. You will get two chunks which equate to two large bites of cake. Contrast that to ordering a piece of cake at Maggiano's and you could feed 2 people with one of their's."

  • "First time my girlfriend and I had gone out for an expensive meal and Lola did not disappoint."
    Dined on 8/11/2014
  • "This restaurant may be a hit in Cleveland, but the meal we had would not succeed elsewhere. On the plus side, the service was very good. Friendly and knowledgeable. However, the dishes were heavy and unbalanced (too much meat, not much else). In addition, the restaurant was very loud and the smell of the open kitchen permeated the entire place. We also arrived 20 minutes early but were not seated until out reservation time even though there were many empty tables both then and after we were seated. The wine list was also unexceptional. The location is not befitting a fine restaurant (it's in the middle of a block of flashy casual restaurants). In short, the food we were served was unsophisticated and the ambiance was lacking."

  • "Dinners were fantastic and service was fantastic. Only complaint the bottle of water on the table did not have any ice in it making the water almost warm. Asked our waitress for a glass of ice. She was very attentive as she kept bringing more ice the whole time. It was a fantastic dining experience."
