A word from Loire Restaurant
The old adage of "good friends, good food and good wine" is a way of life for Jean-Charles Dupoire and Sylvain Brissonnet. It's also the inspiration for Loire restaurant on Harbord street. An elegantly decorated space with a great ambiance and excellent service.
The menu reflects classic French Flavours executed with contemporary techniques, from foie gras and poached grapes to charcuterie made in house, duck a l'orange and delightful pastries.
The wine list offers all the majors appellations of France, Canada and extensive wine choice by the glass.

We had a lovely evening at Loire. The menu is interesting, the food well prepared and the service attentive. I had striped bass and my husband had duck. Both were beautifully prepared, as were our appetizers and dessert. The restaurant was not full (the weather was awful) and one server managed the room with courteous and attentive service. It's a pretty restaurant with attractive lighting and flowers. Altogether it was a most satisfying experience and I strongly recommend Loire. We will certainly return.

Nice relaxed setting with good food and attentive staff. Soft music in the background. Food was very good, but not exciting. Comfortable, easy going, not-to-fussy place to enjoy spending time with friends.

Service was fine, not outstanding (stood waiting a little long, took time to get drinks order, but after that no complaints). I guess I had high expectations since it was French food but the beef and pasta was not to my liking, frogs legs a little bland (I don't know if you can make frogs legs with a lot of flavour). Butter for the bread was straight from the fridge so difficult to spread on the bread. Apart from that it was good.

I hate to give such a terrible review but it truly was a bad dining experience. I think our waiter left without telling us he was going off shift mid meal - at least we never saw him again after he brought us the dessert menu. We were planning on sharing a cheese plate after our tasteless mains (actually one had a lot of flavour, but it was not appetizing - we both tried it and agreed), in the hope that something would redeem the evening. Nice place, nice vibe, good location but that's where it ends.

The service is impeccable and friendly. The music is background...just as it should be. The food is perfectly executed as classic French bistro. You can't go wrong with Loire.

It was a very hot/muggy day and the restaurant doors were open, so there was no air conditioning. Food was good, but not so good that I would return.

We went on July 17 for a birthday dinner. We had been there several times before, and it was awful. No air conditioning!!! Small portions - part of summerlicious - portions were too small. One person ordered off regualr menu - charged $10 for same dessert others had as part of summerlicious. Ran out of wine after three glasses. They seemed overwhelmed by number of tables, and only had two people working. Not great; will not go back

The crepe was fine. The filling (pulled pork) for the crepe, the salad (bland) & the oatmeal square (difficult to break with a fork) were not. Corn (from the US?) was not a pleasing accompaniment with fish. Hard to believe that this is a French restaurant. We were given a rosé (not the one we asked for) & were told "this one's better." It was acidic. The heat inside & out was unbearable on this very humid day. There was one large fan, which was good for 4 patrons closest to it. This was a big disappointment.

This was our 1st time at Loire and it certainly will now go on our list of Toronto favorites. They truly understand the meaning of hospitality; the service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. Everything we ordered was prepared with care and obvious attention to quality ingredients. My companion had the lamb rack and loin, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. I enjoyed the Muscovy duck leg with a fennel chorizo slaw and sweet potato puree; again an excellent dish. Dessert was a spiced frozen chocolate mousse served with an amazing salted caramel sorbet on an oat cake, plus a crumble similar to granola - all excellent. Without hesitation, we will be going back again soon for a special occasion.
