When we first came to LoHi Steakbar, we were so pleased with our new "find". In particular, we really loved the mussels. We have gone back 4 times since, bringing friends, and have ended up feeling disappointed each time. This visit may have been our last. On this recent visit, we were so-o-o disappointed in the new recipe for the mussels, as well as the fact they were not plump as fresh mussels should be (and were on visit #1 on the same date). Ordered two appetizers of mussels to share and ended up returning one of them, untouched, to the kitchen. Just did not like the new recipe. I understand there is a new chef/partners - don't know if it's possible to switch back to the former recipe. In addition, the former skinny fries were replaced with regular fries - could go to McD's for those. A third of my Steakbar steak was tough and sinewy. Left a good bit of it on my plate when I couldn't cut or chew through it. We really liked the music, but it was turned up way too loud for conversation. And of course, that meant everyone in the bar and at the tables was yelling to be heard. Server was very nice and efficient - not her fault the food was poorly prepared. So, not sure we'll return. This was a very disappointing visit.

Price has definitely gone up with new ownership, not necessarily sure if the food is worth the price. I got grilled fish with a bean acompanyment which were only cooked al dente. They weren't very good although waitress said when she has ordered the same item it was cooked that way.

The restaurant has a lot of good things going for it: our table was available immediately (with a reservation) even though the restaurant was packed; our server came immediately to take drink orders, introduce herself - high levels of service persisted throughout the night; my salad was outstanding - I asked for it to be lightly 'dressed' and they delivered; my son's mussels (and the garlic bread that went with it) were top notch. But then there's the steak. You'd think a place touting itself as a 'steak bar' would have top notch, high quality meat. You'd be wrong. It was tough, full of fat, and worse than what I could get at a supermarket. At $28 (with no sides) you're flying just $10 below the better steakhouses and their prime cuts.

We took a friend out for her birthday as she wanted a steak dinner; we got there early on a Saturday night (got hh drinks!) and it was packed. The environment was energetic and fun, the service was great, the food was overpriced for what it was - dinner items are all a la carte and just OK. Its a cute spot - go for happy hour, just don't waste your money on a so-so pricy dinner.

Enjoyed our visit very much. We had a large group, but the staff was prompt and attentive, even though one was being trained. Other staff popped in to take care of water refills, setting and clearing plates, etc. Flatiron steak with blue cheese butter was decadent. Everyone complimented the taste of their dishes. We did have a couple of steaks overdone, but Steve was there trying to make up for it with replacement meals, free wine, and ultimately gift certificates when his appeals to make it right were demurred. We can't wait to come back!

Very nice atmosphere - trendy, cozy and an excellent choice for happy hour which goes until 6:30. Interesting and diverse happy hour menu. Had the steak sandwich and potato skins which were good, although I'd suggest a soft roll for the steak sandwich in place of the dry bread. Tasty glass of red wine for $4. I took my husband and two young adult children because I had read that this restaurant had the best burgers. There was really only one burger although you can build your own. In the end, my kids would have preferred Smash Burger. Service was good and friendly. Personally, I like places that check in on your needs before happy hour ends. Overall a good dining experience for all but not worth the 1 hour drive for us in the future.

Took a small group here after work for a dinner meeting and was quite happy with the service, food and overall experience. The steaks were outstanding, as was the service from the minute we stepped into the restaurant, until we left. Only (very minor) concern was the music was a bit too loud for us, but not overwhelming. May have been that we were closer to the speakers than other tables, and we were able to converse without having to speak up too much. Even so, we were very happy with the experience and will definitely be making this restaurant a regular stop.

I had a filet and a salad. I've never had a better steak, and the crispy anchovies atop the romaine salad were a special salty treat. My husband's favorite item here has always been the mussels and frites. Although this is no longer listed as an entree, he ordered the mussels from the hot snacks portion of the menu and paired them with the pommes frites from the list of sides and was a truly happy man.

Told manager I was meeting the person who had referred me to this restaurant, he was very appreciative. Once we were seated, the manager arrived at the table with complimentary champaign...nice touch. The restaurant had recently undergone a minor remodel, nicely done! Menu surprised me, only one fried offering, remainder were grilled, seared or sauteed. Staff were all very friendly and courteous, lending to the pleasant visit. Make reservations, this place gets quite busy, even on mid-week evenings. I will return.

When I first found this place, I thought it looked like a converted service station--it may be...but, the food is outstanding outstanding and very reasonably priced. The manager is very hospitable and always makes us welcome. Every time I'm in Denver, I stop by and eat here. Nice safe neighborhood bar/restaurant that is gaining the attention of its more prominent competitors. For me, it has become a destination.

Last summer this was one of our favorites. In the past year year it has really gone downhill quickly. Service is slow and dreadful - last summer the servers and bartenders were all great. On Sunday night our margarita's were just ice. Told server - she didn't care or try fix them. Burgers we asked for medium and came well done. Note - Burgers here are always over-cooked here and steaks are always under-cooked. Restrooms did not have paper towels to dry your hands. Servers were aware of this and did nothing. Menu has not changed at all in over a year. In an area that there is a great new restaurant opening up every week LoHi has done nothing to keep people coming back. This was our last time we and no longer our local favorite.

Service was slow, to the point that it seemed like our server had forgotten about us at times. My wife ordered a glass of the house cab, which tasted old and stale. It was almost undrinkable. My wife had the NY Strip, which tasted like it had been frozen and thawed multiple times. I had the filet, which was gamy and tough. The fries were fantastic. They were the only redeeming factor.

Three people had steaks and were very satisfied. One had mussels and thought portion a little small but quite good. Hamburger was quite good but ordered medium and a little overdone. Atmosphere was very pleasant and quiet. A crowd apparently came in suddenly it was restaurant week, so service was a little slow. Wait staff though apologized for the very long wait and was attentive. (A free drink or something in return for long wait would have been welcome).

We were seated promptly and greeted by Sarah, our waitress. After taking our order she stopped over to apologize for the lengthy delay in our appetizer (which we did not notice). Very professional move! A little later the manager came over and apologized again, making sure we were satisfied. It is refreshing to dine in a restaurant where the staff is attentive, but not hovering.

I have been to LoHi Steakbar many times, especially for the steak with bearnaise sauce, which used to be so good. This time, it tasted like a poor imitation of hollandaise instead. The manager told us, " Well, that's how we make it here." When we substituted blue cheese sauce, it had too little blue cheese in it to taste. The manager was clearly uninterested in our concerns. On the other hand, our waitress was efficient and had a lovely sense of humor.

We had a casual business lunch at LoHi. The restaurant was clean, the menu had a good variety of choices, and the general feel was upbeat and welcoming. Two of us had the daily in house ground burgers with fries that appeared to house made as well. Burgers were just a touch over cooked but very tasty. The seasoning on the fries was very good. Service was friendly and our waiter was around at the right times without hovering. We had heard of LoHi before but this was our first visit and we will surely be back.

There was a live band playing when we went which added to the lively atmosphere. I don't see myself coming back here for the food. The burgers looked delicious but with my group we all ordered steaks, and with the title steakbar in the name we were very disappointed. Every person's steak was undercooked. One person ordered a medium rare steak that was literally only seared. The inside was completely raw and disgusting. My steak was supposed to be medium and came out medium rare, closer to rare. For being a "steakbar" I would think they use thermometers to know the perfect temperature. Not good!

The food is wonderful, fresh and nicely presented. Two suggestions: the music is too loud for a dinner conversation. Turning up the music as more people come in makes it very difficult to have dinner conversation across a table or booth. Wait to crank up the music until after the dinner hour and the restaurant becomes predominately a bar. Also, I asked if the steak was from grass fed, hormone free beef but the server didn't know ~ that is important information to be able to tell a customer. And I am a regular - my family and I enjoy the great food, the openness/ambiance and the location. Kudos!!

The quality of the food was also a big disappointment, the burger was good, the eggs benedict and pastrami hash were not good at all. We had to request salt and pepper, sugar for tea and general condiments. Rarely would we pan a restaurant but this is one time we felt the need to.
