Diner Reviews
  • "The bloody Mary's and Mimosa are excellent. Steak and eggs are fantastic. Fun place to enjoy time with friends in LOHI. And when it's all over enjoy a Moscow Mule.. Yummy !!!"

  • "We made a reservation at LoHi for brunch, because restaurants accepting brunch reservations are hard to come by. Our food took forever to arrive while other diners arriving after us were served. It arrived cold, and our waitress was extremely unapologetic. They said they would take care of this issue and forgot to do so. The ended up giving us drink cards for a future visit but overall... not great."

  • "I went for the first time with a friend and we had a great time. Fab service, food and atmosphere. I'll be back- looks like a fun springtime hangout after work. This joint is a winner!"

  • "We took some friends to Lohi for Restaurant Week and were pretty disappointed. For $30 a guest, we were unimpressed and not in any hurry to go back. First, I think the menu was poorly planned. The appetizer selections were ho-hum and the overly rich blue cheese fondue left a person feeling put off after a few bites. Then, when the steaks came, we realized that the side of frites was an identical taste to the appetizer chips. A little overkill for whoever planned the menu - variety of flavors and a showcase of food talent would have been nice. The steaks were good, but not amazing. The dessert was also not exciting. While the cheesecake was nice, the mousse was unremarkable. Sigh..."

  • "We dined at LoHi for Denver Restaurant Week. The DRW menu was a good representation of what was offered at the establishment. The blue cheese fondu was divine! However, it was only served with chips and could have been better if there were some veggies served with it as well. I had the salmon and my bf had the steak. Both had good flavors, however, they were on the salty side which made it harder to finish. To wash down the salt though, I had a GREAT jalapeno margarita. Maybe if it wasn't DRW the food would have been more carefully done and the salt levels would haven't been so high."

  • "Good location in the Highlands but food is definitely an acquired taste.. not amazing but not bad."

  • "We went here for restaurant week and thought it was ok. The service was very good and the restaurant has a nice feel about it as well as a good location. The food was only ok though. Large portions - very heavy food. Not the best not the worst. It would be a good weeknight dinner spot but wouldn't recommend for a special occasion. For restaurant week and for a pretty typical quality of food, it was very expensive."

  • "My husband, three year old and I spent our family Valentine's Day meal here early Saturday evening. Service was prompt and friendly and I was pleasantly surprised that they had a children's menu. They offered to bring my son his meal as soon as it was ready, and it was done fast. He scarfed down the cheeseburger in short order. I had the filet mignon with the herb butter. The filet was prepared perfectly and I loved the frites and creamed spinach. My husband tried the burger with chili and a fried egg. It was messy, and he complained that the chili was actually a bit sweet, but on the whole, a juicy and tasty burger. Service was pleasant, prompt and friendly. We will be back to this neighborhood spot."

  • "Love this place! Management has been superb with changing the menu and making sure the food is to your specifications. Kudos to the staff that keep us coming back!"

  • "I went alone for steak which was mildly awkward because the waitress asked me if I was waiting for someone and when I said no, she asked if I wanted to have some food, as if I could only want to drink because I was out alone. Other than that, the food was good, but the portion size was enormous. The NY Strip steak is worth having, especially with the garlic-herb butter. Nice location, nice ambiance. Best for groups of adults, though I saw some children there."

  • "This is one of the few neighborhood restaurants who continue to recognize our patronage (our faces and the same order) and make us feel welcome. It makes us want to return which we do."

  • "Went for a work lunch and sat in the bar area, which had one other seated table in it. The restaurant was pretty dead. It took forever for our server to come take our order. Forget about her refilling drinks. When the food was delivered, the eggs on my benedict were completely cooked through. The potatoes were greasy. And then, my absolute pet peeve: the slow, inattentive waitress said she was leaving and switching us to another server. With all the great dining options in Denver, I'll never go back here. So glad it was just colleagues and no clients dining with me."

  • "I love this place for HH or just a more relaxing bar experience which is why I figured I'd give dinner a try. I rarely treat myself to expensive meals (above $20 for an entree) so when I do, I'm hoping that it's worth the money. I ordered the NY Strip for $26 and it was OK. Nothing special. I did enjoy the blue cheese butter that was served on top of the steak but I won't be eating here again if I have a say in the matter. This might sound like blasphemy to some people but I would much rather eat at Outback and end up walking away with extra money in my pocket. For a 'Steakbar', I was pretty disappointed."

  • "This is the most expensive restaurant we normally frequent. $67 plus tip for 4 people breakfast is high."

  • "Dining area located directly next to sports bar and two windows in the dining room covered with plastic and duct tape equal zero ambience. Server was clueless and inattentive, but other servers covered for him, which was both thoughtful and courteous. Saving grace was the meat; flatiron and filet were both very good."

  • "Although a bit outside of our neighborhood (we live in the Tennyson area), we try to frequent LoHi Steakbar. The atmosphere is vibrant, food is good and the service is outstanding! Our last visit was Christmas Eve. Our server, Rebecca, could have been angry and disappointed about working on a holiday but that was far from what she openly presented. She was upbeat, helpful and fun in conversation. My recommendations? The Steakbar Steak. It comes with a choice of house made sauces and really good french fries (although I LOVE their baked potato as a swap). My husband is a big fan of the burgers. Again, the burger is served with a large serving of french fries. Lastly... don't forget dessert!! All desserts are house made :)"

  • "We went to LoHi for a nice Christmas Eve dinner and were pleasantly surprised. Our server was great and so friendly. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were so tender. Don't add salt to your stead and fries because they are already seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend dining at LoHi!"

  • "We always go to celebrate birthdays. And we always go on Mondays. They have oysters for a buck. Happy hour is great! Their Steakbar steak is perfect after one dozen oysters. Very helpful and courteous help. We love it!"

  • "Nice place. Nice service. Food was good. Only complaint was about the steaks we ordered which were a liitle under done. (Ordered med rare and steaks were pretty rare. Still great though!)"

  • "My co-workers and I visited on my birthday last week and we were all very pleased with the ambience and the terrific food. The hummus is excellent! The blackened fish (trout) that I had was one of the best fish dishes I've had in my year here in Denver. And coming from San Diego (where I had fish regularly), I'm really picky. Our waitress was personable and helpful. I'll be back with my husband (and maybe even if the kids) soon!"

  • "My 88 year old mother was visiting and the older she gets, the pickier she becomes about food so it's hard to find a restaurant that makes her happy. Going to the LoHi was a no brainer! She had a open faced steak sandwich with a side salad, and enjoyed both. I had a filet mignon with fries and a small kale salad. The kale salad was overdressed and the dates were mushy, which was disappointing. The service was excellent, as was the drink special of the day, Dark and Stormy. The portions are just right and the prices are reasonable. The restaurant has a great ambiance and the wait staff is eager to please. I only wish I lived closer. :)"

  • "Very accommodating. The food is very consistent. Steak is always good. If you want something done a certain way/substituted, they do it. The French onion soup is a great version. The sausage-stuffed mushrooms are very good. The hummus is very good. Both of their salad bases are very good. They make a great jalapeno margarita house cocktail that is very good."

  • "We made reservations at LoHi on our way to the theater. We were greeted enthusiastically, seated promptly, and provided with water and a menu within minutes. The service was fast, and the food was delicious. My husband had the perfectly seasoned and prepared 1/2 chicken. I had the pork chop with kale salad and sweet potato, which was out-of-this-this world...delicious. We didn't have time to return for dessert after the play, so we're planning a dessert tour at LoHi in the near future!"

  • "Tables way too close together , very loud in dining room, good happy hour and drink specials. The bar might be the best place to have your meal if there are just two of you."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised at the steak I had. I haven't found a moderately priced steak that was as tender as this cut was that night. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. Served with french fries was a little "Steak House" style whereas a choice of potato and veggie would give this selection a better grade. $1.00 oysters started us off and were fantastic. The service came from all angles. We had a main waitress but a series of servers including the manager. All in all..... I will be back !"

  • "We went for Restaurant Week in 2013. It was good but not great. Nothing bad, nothing especially memorable. Good place for steak and really not that pricey so you don't really need to wait until Restaurant Week to try it."

  • "Meh... Our waitress was cold and unfriendly to say the least. Food was mediocre, and I could tell our server would rather be ANYWHERE else than serving us. If she gave me her name, I can't remember it. Which says a lot about our experience. She wasted no time going over any sort of specials, or drink menus, or anything really. We go to places again and again b/c of the service, and I can't say we'll be back here anytime soon."

  • "Our group ordered steaks, the salmon salad and the chili. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the bernaise sauce was a fantastic pairing with the meat. The salmon salad was delicious and a nice presentation. Everything was wonderful, except I would not recommend the chili, it was rather bland. The restaurant was quite noisy, which made for difficult conversation at our table at times. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the manager was on top of things and made sure all tables were satisfied with their meals. I intend to go back."

  • "We had an early dinner, 4 PM. The restaurant was essentially empty, but it took someone almost ten minutes to even acknowledge us. The steak was nothing special, the waitress said that's what they are know for so I ordered it. Had the filet, was actually a little tough. My husband had the steak and frites, the frites were soggy. I ordered the cream spinach with my steak, it was not creamed at all, just sauteed and bland. The best part of the meal was the house salad, very fresh and the dressing was great. Didn't waste our time or money on dessert, went elsewhere. LoHi was fine, but nothing worth a return visit with so many great restaurants around."
