A word from Logan Tavern
It is a common criticism that Washington, D.C., where chains, steakhouses, and take-out joints abound, lacks restaurants that combine great food, friendly prices, and a hip atmosphere. Logan Tavern puts this tragic shortcoming to rest. Located in the dynamic Logan Circle neighborhood, Logan Tavern is a neighborhood restaurant and bar that"s as perfect for a quick weekday bite as it is for a Friday night out with friends. Come by for dinner, lunch, happy hour, or our great weekend brunch for some comfort food with a twist.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I had a delicious dinner with our two adult children at Logan Tavern. The menu was especially good, with a varied selection that appealed to all of us. We began with three delicious appetizers and moved on to a variety of entrees, although my husband had another two appetizers as his main course. We especially liked the Chicken Paillard, the mussels, and the daily special of pork ribs. The vegetarians among us loved their entree Chopped Salads. The only problem with the restaurant is the parking which is nonexistent. Be sure to allow a lot of extra time to find a place (in our case, blocks away)."

  • "Glad we chose this hotel for a large group dining in DC - Good burgers, friendly staff - great location. "

  • "We needed a place for dinner for our party of 5 - 3 adults and 2 adolescents. Logan Tavern was perfect in that it was walking distance from our hotel off Thomas Circle, had great modern yet warm ambience, outstanding service from our waitress Devon and a broad menu with a decent wine selection. Get the glass and a half - best value for wine lovers!"

  • "I went to Logan with three friends for before theater dinner. I just had soup, as I had a big lunch. It was the daily special, but there was nothing special about it. One friend ordered a burger, and it came so rare it had to be sent back. She had lost her appetite so she just had a salad. The other two had the wedge with bacon and dressing, which is what the third ended up with. They thought it was ok..not a great salad. So, all in all not a great food experience."

  • "We have eaten at Logan Tavern before and it has always been fine but not memorable. This evening I had a drink called the Jar Drink. It was expensive ($15) but it lasted throughout dinner, coming in a little pitcher with a very interesting blend of flavors. I never needed a glass of wine with dinner so in the end it wasn't that expensive. I look forward to returning for the drink alone. But, the meals we had were similarly outstanding. And our waiter Max was well informed, pleasant and nice to be with."

  • "If you want a restaurant with no pretensions, and just good solid menu. This is the place to go. A little noisy, but not so much that you cant hear your dining companions. A go to for pre-theater dinner as well."

  • "We arrived with party of 5. The hostess promptly sat us down. The server was attentive at every stage of our dinner. Everyone was impressed with the food. What more can you ask for?"

  • "Logan Tavern has a small menu, but with plenty of variety. The most recent time we each had an entree with the chimichurri sauce - salmon and hanger steak. Both were delicious. The waiter was helpful, professional, and attentive. We almost always choose Logan Tavern before going to the Studio Theater because we like everything about the place: ambience, efficiency, excellent food."

  • "The staff was great all around. Our waitress, Winter made our experience even better. The management was very accommodating when my group almost doubled in size my my original reservation. I have been here many times before but this was the first time with a big group. I will definitely keep it in mind for any future group events."

  • "Had to find a table for 8 near Logan Circle at rather short notice for a Friday night, and Logan Tavern accommodated us. Food was better than "tavern fare." All 8 of us "foodie" types ordered something different - scallops, filet, fried chicken, salmon, etc. and there were no complaints. Desserts were tasty and had a touch of the unusual (e.g., red velvet cheesecase). Half of our party showed up early enough to catch a few cocktails at a happy hour price. When the rest of our party arrived our table was ready for us on time (if not a little earlier). 8 in the round, perfect. The only drawback is the lack of any waiting space. The bar area is fairly small and was jumping Friday evening. Some of us waited outside. Still fun!"

  • "I enjoy the Logan Tavern whenever I travel to DC. They tweak the menu seasonally to offer a few well made specials. These are not to be missed."

  • "They had a great Blood Mary menu. You get to pick the vodka, the spiciness, the flavor, and the extra fixings - and they make it for you. (I hate places that let you "build-your-own" Bloody - if I wanted to do that, I would have made myself one at home!) Booze aside, the service was great and the food was delicious. Def will go back to Logan Tavern."

  • "We had family in town and needed a last minute reservation for 10 on a Sat. night. We got an excellent table, which was big enough to all fit and small enough that we could really talk with anybody at the table. I gave the noise level 2 out of 4, because the tables are widely spread enough that you really feel like you have all the space you need to talk/listen comfortably. The waitress was very helpful and able to keep things moving, even in spite of our size. The food was great - something delicious for everybody: creative takes on classics but still dependable (not for extreme foodies, but with a group of 10, who needs that challenge?). Thanks, Logan Tavern, for making it so easy to have a great dinner out with a multi-age big group!"

  • "This is the second time I have visited and feel the same. I felt right at home the minute I entered. Despite the hard floors the accustics are good for a friendly conversation. The food and drink selection was acceptable to a diverse group. Actually they had difficulty picking which ones they wanted. Save room for desert! I will be back with more friends."

  • "The kitchen ran out of my requested entree (salmon) at 7:30, which was disappointing. What we ended up ordering was quite good. I requested a quiet table, which they gave us. Overall, an excellent dining experience."

  • "We woke up Saturday morning seeking two things, the best Bloody Marys in DC and a happening brunch spot. We found both at Logan Tavern! After customizing our Bloody Mary requests from their wide selection of ingredients, their bar staff delivered the best, freshest, and most wonderful concoctions ever! (I recommend the bacon strip and pickled beans, along with a dash of horseradish and celery!) Then came the food. Eggs Benedict and the Sampler Platter. Just brilliant! I visit DC regularly, and shall become a regular Saturday morning brunch customer. (Arrive early...the word is getting out!)"

  • "This place was amazing. Love the atmosphere, the cocktail, beer, and wine list and the cleaning eating menu options with all organic/grass fed beef had plenty of options for everyone even vegan options. Our waiter was Ben and he was very knowledgeable and super fun. Volume was a little loud but we dined late (9 pm). Can't wait to go back!"

  • "On my first visit to Logan Tavern for lunch I was impressed with the food. My salmon sandwich was terrific. It's a staple these days but often lackluster. The bun was high quality, dressing subtle, arugula a nice touch and the fish had taste and was well pan seared. The cole slaw was a stand out - and I'm not usually a big fan. It's a great location and very nice and old worldish inside."

  • "We were very late due to a monumental traffic tie-up resulting from the President's attendance at an event at the St. Regis. The staff knew we were attending the theater with an 8:00 curtain, and took our orders immediately. The food came very promptly and was very good."

  • "I really enjoyed the restaurant. We made a reservation and I was sat as soon as I walked in the door. The staff was very professional and polite and we received everything in a timely fashion. We each had the rhubarb/raspberry mimosa and it was the best mimosa I've had. It tasted very light and crisp and like they freshly squeezed the juice. We had the brussle sprouts appetizer which was really good. I also had the turkey panini, the turkey was a little dry and I didn't eat much of the bread, but their fries are amazing. I will definitely be going back here again."

  • "One of our most visited restaurants in the city, but our frequency here is on the decline. Last 2 times there, with the new menu, were less than stellar. Likely not to return as often."

  • "We stayed at a hotel around the corner and were looking for a nice, cozy Sunday dinner. Started with delicious sparkling wine--quite a bit of wine for $10!--then tried their cocktails, which were probably the best part of the meal. Not to take away from the food, but the cocktails were excellent. Bf had the old fashioned and I had the spicy thai bird. Started with buffalo shrimp--sauce is amazing. We had chicken paillard and crabcake sandwich with side of mac. All comforting and delicious, simple but very well made. Server was efficient and attentive. The space is very cozy--fireplace, candles, and rustic dark wood. Would definitely return."

  • "I love Logan. It has become my go to restaurant. I love brunch here. My food was great and our server Devan was amazing! She was fun and attentive. Totally made the day!"

  • "We arrived for an early reservation because no other spots were available. There was only one other group in the restaurant, easily could have gotten later spot. No one arrived while we were there. It took 20 minutes to get a drink. The rest was just okay. Not great, not horrible."

  • "We have been going to Logan Tavern since its inception and enjoyed it before many theater events, though we had not been there for about a year. We ordered the chopped salads and they were at best mediocre--unless chickpeas is a favorite foor you, then just moderately mediocre. And people who order slads generally are trying to be somewhat dietetic. A knowledgeable food friend ordered the mushroom pasta and left 75% uneaten. Given all of the new competing restauarants in the area, LT beeds to do some work."

  • "I love Logan Tavern - for brunch and for dinner. It has a great atmosphere and the food is consistently good. For brunch the mushroom omelet is delicious. Only menu item that disappointed our group was the huevos - the menu mentions plantains, but they are stewed with the turkey so you can't taste or see them. Would be better if there we just some nice slices of grilled plantain as a garnish. The beet and arugula salad was a big hit. The make your own bloody marys are outstanding!"

  • "We went here Saturday with a group of 10 and they provided us with two very patient waiters.. they have a plethora of options for brunch and lunch and the best bloody mary menu I have ever seen.. highly recommend it."

  • "I went to Logan Tavern with a group of friends for a "reunion" type get together. It was such a fun time - the menu was great...we all had a hard time deciding what we wanted because everything sounded so good. The waitress was very nice and responsive."

  • "We had dinner here after a play at Studio. The service was excellent. The waitress was attentive without being too much so, and managed to smuggle me the check (and kept it from my Dad!) -- Kudos to her. I was afraid that this would be a noisy spot, but it was extremely pleasant. Plus there is a communal table, which I intend to go back and try. The food was good, but the overall evening really was delightful. I would recommend it."

  • "Overall a good experience, good food very nice service, reasonable price (we were there for restaurant week so app, main, and dessert were all $35). Using opentable greatly expedited seating; i have been there sometimes when the wait is an hour. Nothing in the menu jumps out at you, so not really for a trendy foodie person, but good basic food well-served."
