Log HavenSurprisingly modern take on foodI was a bit hesitant to go to log haven. I worried it would be gimmicky or old fashioned, but the menu was surprisingly fresh and modern. Although the ambiance was a bit old-fashioned, the food exceed my expectations.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways love it!One of our favorite dining spots! Food is always great and love the atmosphere!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat discoveryNeeded a good place for a romantic getaway that was out of the way of the bustle of the city. The drive up the canyon is a great way to remove the trappings of the day, and since I kept the place a surprise it was a wonderful sight to her on arrival. The bar is a small but personable place and an early arrival ensured we had the place to ourselves. Sitting outside was simply perfect, and the food was fantastic. Elk carpaccio, bison chili, an appetizer salad, heirloom spinach and the. Great breads and the steak and lobster. In retrospect a different and more adventurous entree choice would have been better as everything was superb. Walked the path to the trail e joyed a great wine and a cocktail as well. Two people had a tremendous time.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic dinnerMy boyfriend and I were placed outside with a view of the waterfall. The atmosphere was beautiful and the weather was pleasant. The food, while rich, was in small portions and could have been larger for the price, but still the experience was overall very enjoyable and I plan on going back in the future.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible!Took my wife for our 4th yr anniversary. 90+ degrees in the valley but beautiful and comfortable temperature in the canyon. Incredible setting, great service and delicious food. Don't usually repeat restaurants but will definitely be back. Recommend the Alpine Nachos and Smoked Duck and Hand Cut Serrano Chile Pasta.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful PlaceThe location combined with the food and live piano was incredible.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMLog HavenExcellent dinner again. Perfect for special occasion. Love the food, the wine, the pianist. We always look forward to eating there.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary CelebrationLog Haven is a beautiful restaurant in a very scenic location. The service was excellent. The menu is different than the normal fare which adds to a special occasion. The quiet atmosphere is almost unheard of these days and very much enjoyed. The food was very good and presentation was great.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic cabin in the woodsGreat food, and selections. Standards, plus inventive menu. Comfortable, upscale/rustic dining.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMInvitingService with Elise was outstanding; not rushed, well informed, and serviced with perfection. The restaurant was able to keep noise level down; the log decor with soft lighting added to the rough-hewn effect; outside pine tree view with waterfall...perfect. It was a 60-year anniversary for the folks, the piano player knew "their song" Moonlight in Vermont. Nice touch.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply Fabulous! On a beautiful evening, with wonderful company, I had a simply fabulous dining experience. Elise, our server, was charming, the steak, cooked to perfection, the creme brulee a delight. The outdoor setting was absolutely beautiful and the piano artisian in the background playing show tunes from broadway musicals and disney shows was just the perfect touch.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAn experience to remember! We were seeking a scenic setting for a special celebration and we definitely found it at Log Haven! But we truly didn't expect to be wowed by the food...and were pleasantly surprised that the food exceeded the beautiful setting. We started with a low-cal mushroom soup that tasted rich and velvety as if full of cream and butter. Who knew healthy food could taste that rich and yummy? The skirt steak preparation was right on and my wife raved about her salmon in a corn broth with roasted tomatoes. Service was warm and friendly. Live piano spot on. A specialty Aperol cocktail is our new favorite. Hope we can duplicate it at home. Pricing was a great value. We will definitely return.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem in the mountainsLog Haven is a little gem in the mountains of Millcreek Canyon. The atmosphere was quiet & peaceful. A fireplace in the middle of the restaurant was warm & cozy. The beauty inside matched tge beauty outside. We were treated very respectfully by our waitress who knew the menu very well & answered our questions with ease. The food was presented so beautifully that you almost didn't want to eat it. Its taste matched that of its presentation. The food options would please anyone. We enjoyed everything at Log Haven. It is a perfect place for a special occasion - anniversary, birthday, valentines, etc...5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMUnderrated by FoodiesThe preparations were creatively conceived, well executed, and inspiringly finished. For as much neglect as Loghaven receives from the food snob crowd, I find the cuisine in the top 3 in the greater SLC area. Great restaurant with a great atmosphere and great food.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWONDERFUL MOTHERS DAY TREATMy wife and I have been to LOG HAVEN before and love the place. From the friendly valet parking to the knowledgeable bar tender and the polite caring waitress, how could you ask for more. Just a great place to enjoy a special occasion. And I should mention the price was right.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers' dayAbsolutely lovely Mothers' day dinner. The food and drinks were exquisite, as usual. Thank you!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect Mothers DayWheather was great! food was great! and atmosphere was great!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, GREAT service! Our family has been coming to Log Haven for more years than I can count. We have seen a lot of "changes" over the years. The setting is unique and definitely a local treasure which must be experienced. The service is always exceptional. The food is very good, but could definitely be improved, especially for the price. SLC has a lot of tough competition in the food arena and it is critical that high end restaurants never let down their guard, especially during special events like Mother's Day.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were more than pleasedWe were more than pleased with Log Haven. The location in the hills was so relaxing and the drive up through the park was delightful. Our meals were unique and most delicious. The server was an asset to our dinner. She was right on with her wine suggestions. We would definitely recommend Log Have.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great visitThis is a terrific restaurant. The duck spicy pasta was amazing! The service was outstanding. Our waitress was friendly and attentive with a wonderful personality. We have eaten here before and will definitely be back. The view is amazing. Be sure to check out the waterfall across the street from the restaurant.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food and serviceOur waiter was very good and if I had the money I would have defiantly tipped him. We went there for prom and expected great food service and atmosphere, which we did.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary dinner amazing food!My husband and I had and awesome meal at log haven! Our waiter was great! The food was amazing! I got the salmon and pork belly and my husband got the steak and lobster! My husband is a chef so we are pretty pick and we didnt have one complaint!!! It was a Thursday and it was very quiet and very romantic! We will definitely go again!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite cuisine, beautiful localeAs always, the food and ambiance was excellent. I've never been disappointed at Log Haven!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant absolutelyThis restaurant absolutely lived up to my expectations!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server, Hannah, was extremelyOur server, Hannah, was extremely competent and friendly. We felt like we were the most important people in the restaurant. We didn't have to wait long to be seated, our to get our food, which was exquisite. Thanks for a memorable experience!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFine Mountain DiningIn a beautiful spot half way up Millcreek canyon, eating at Log Haven is always a pleasure. They have hearty canyon fair like buffalo and beef steaks. There are always interesting fish and seafood dishes as well. I really appreciate the "Low-Cal High Impact" special: a three course (appetizer, main course, dessert) menu always under 700 calories. This is not your mother's diet food, it stands up to anything on the menu. Eat outside if you can to enjoy the pine scented mountain air. Service is always good. The wine list is limited (consider bringing your own).4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBest is Salt LakeThis very well may be the best restaurant in the Salt Lake Valley. Everything about the Log Haven was outstanding. It started with the service. When I made my reservation through OpenTable, you are able to add a note for requests. My wife has a tendency to get cold easily, so I asked that if there is a warmer spot in the restaurant to sit and if it was possible, could we be seated there. We were sat right next to the gas fireplace. Our waiter Hartley was informative and attentive. The view is phenomenal - waterfalls, the small lake/pond, it's beautiful. The best part, the food. My wife and I both loved it, we have nothing but good to say about food. Properly sized portions are available, which we chose. We will be returning!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were celebrating birthday'sWe were celebrating birthday's for 2 of my oldest son. They enjoyed a nice place like this. I had my whole family here which was 6 of us my 3 sons (32,27,23) and 1 daughter(10)and wife. The food was excellent. The only thing comment was the Brussels sprouts - two I my sons had them with the bison and didn't like them. I tried them also and really like Brussels sprouts but I didn't care for them either. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves very much - will be a place to come back to on special occasions.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLog Haven is always stellar.Log Haven is always stellar. The atmosphere, tucked up a scenic canyon with waterfalls
surrounding the restaurant, the rustic decor, and the cuisine by Chef Dave Jones.
Love this place. It's always a special occasion when I visit. Love the valet parking, too! A drive up Millcreek Canyon is always spectacular, esp. in fall.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Log Haven for aWe went to Log Haven for a perfect Easter dinner. This was our first time, but we look forward to returning. The food was beautifully presented and well-prepared. The dinner choices were varied and interesting. I particularly liked the kale chips that accompanied the trout entree. The setting was wonderful and the background piano music truly set the scene. Tables were well-placed so that conversations at one table did not spill over to the next.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWhenever I travel, I try toWhenever I travel, I try to find historic buildings in the area. I love well-preserved eateries. Log Haven is amazing. The hostess gave us a tour and showed us a hidden speak easy and a spring outside that they purify their water from. Parts of the building have the original log structure and the views are gorgeous. The menu is very eclectic and we had trouble narrowing down our options. I ordered the steak and lobster - very good. My partner ordered the fish dish that had a japanese flair - delicious. Nice extensive wine list (Italian being a favorite) and had the sommelier help us with selections. We were very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Salt Lake. It's a real gem.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have a fondness for historicI have a fondness for historic buildings and try to find places to visit when I travel. Log Haven is a real gem. The hostess gave us a tour and they have a hidden speak easy and a spring where they purify their own water. Parts of the building have the original logs from the early 1900's and it has been beautifully maintained. Our server told us they also have an occasional ghost! The menu is very eclectic and we had a difficult time narrowing down our options. I opted for the early bird special/steak and lobster and it was very good. My partner tried the trout entree with a bit of Japanese influence - unique & delicious. Extensive wine list and a sommelier on hand to help us narrow down our choice. Very enjoyable experience.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSpelt Risotto was out of thisSpelt Risotto was out of this world...nutty texture and rich flavors really took us by surprise. The pork chop was amazing too. This restaurant is a treasure and the setting is one-of-a-kind. Don't miss Log Haven!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 3rd time. BetterThis was our 3rd time. Better food than ever. Service by Hartley was superior. We will return and hopefully be able to have another great experience with Hartley!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best kept secret aboutThe best kept secret about Log Haven is the stellar performance by the piano player, who gently played song after song for the hours we savored our wonderful meal. I had requested a secluded spot for the two of us and the restaurant staff delivered! The service was impeccable, as was the food. Thank you for making the start of our long weekend so wonderful!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways DelightfulThe server was very knowledgeable and highly recommended the special: Black Cod and Sushi. The dinner was outstanding! The dining and piano music are what makes Log Haven our top favorite3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur family LOVES Log Haven! Our family LOVES Log Haven! We started with Alpine Nachos then on to an amazing salad with plump cherries and a light dressing. A wild turkey climbed the waterfall behind our table. Our server told us her name is Greta and it was simply amazing to watch her sip from the waterfall as we ate the best Black Cod I have ever tasted. It literally melted in our mouths. This restaurant is totally unique and deserves its national fame.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a nice time eatingWe had a nice time eating really good food. We were seated within a minute or two of our reservation time. Service was good. Everything we ordered was available on the menu (we've had bad experiences with menu items not being available.) Our order was correct and cooked to perfection. Overall a very good experience.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmong the best restaurantsAmong the best restaurants along the Wasatch Front. Service is dominated by mature males. I don't know why women were scare, but they exhibited a high degree of professionalism and competence. Three servers attended to our table seeing that we had filled glasses and clean plates. They knew when to attend out table without our having to ask for anything. The food was delicious. Although the price is upscale, I shop more for value rather than price alone, and I feel I received an excellent value for my money.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
