  • "This was our second time at Log Haven. The restaurant staff were more reserved, and not as friendly. Our server was good, so no real issue. My folks and wife had the ribeye special. They ordered it medium well, which is far off from my choice of medium rare for steaks. Two of the three were tough, as could be sometimes for medium well. I had the soup special, which was a very complex carrot puree with shrimp and yogurt, etc. Simply amazing...they should adopt this soup as a regular menu item. My entrée was the bison. To be honest, it was too tough, and I know bison is very lean, and not much entrée for $34.50. Overall, good, but not great for the $235 bill for 4 people with tip."

  • "We had a reservation for 7 and upon arrival they had a table ready for us outside as well as inside. We chose to dine outside as it was a beautiful evening and were not disapponted. The patio was delightful and once the sun sank low enough they pulled back the sun sail and we had a gorgeous view of the mountains. The veal and fettucine appetizer special as well as the nachos and chilled potato leek soup were wonderful. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their main courses, but I think the peppered filet was the best. I highly recommend this restaurant for both the location and the food."

  • "I have driven by this place many times while in the canyon and decided to take my best friend here for her birthday. It was magical and a birthday hit. The ambiance was amazing, the good was amazing, and the service was amazing! Hidden magical gem. I'm bring a date here for sure next time."

  • "I wasn't too impressed with the food, the duck dish was actually kinda gross and the prices are a little high. But I think I rarely have good experiences with fancy places. I guess I'm just use to regular restaurants..."

  • "We got married at Log Haven and continue to dine there for our anniversary and randomly throughout the year. The food/wine list is consistently exciting and the staff is knowledgeable, polite, and attentive."

  • "Food was excellent and the ambiance is always a 10. The service was solid and very professional which is unusual for Salt Lake! The restaurant was a bit warm and more windows could have been opened, but the whole experience was fantastic."

  • "Charming, unique, full of rustic beauty and character. Each dish from appetizers desert had distinct flavors which highlighted the chef's unique and trendy flare. The waitress was attentive but at times forgetful. She would return often to check on us only to realize she forget an item she acknowledge to bring. Overall a wonderful experience."

  • "Log Haven is located about 5 miles past the gate to the Wasatch National Forest in Millcreek Canyon, but the trek to get there is well worth it. The facility was restored in the 1980's and is a magnificent log building (logs from Oregon in the 1920's). A receipt from valet parking pays the park exit fee. The menu is Contemporary American from duck to chicken to pork to beef. Small plates are available. We chose a steak and lobster tail special ($39) had outstanding taste and presentation. As it was my birthday, a candle arrived just after the meal. A very nice touch! For dessert we had a Coconut Souffle with pineapple sauce and macadamia nuts. A perfect end to a great meal. Log Haven is definitely recommended."

  • "My wife and I have used Log Haven for our "Special Place". We took our two adult children this time and although the food was the normal Outstanding, I did notice a little decrease in service and seating arrangements. My chair was extremely wobbly and made me a bit uncomfortable. The other small matter was I asked for a condiment for my fries and it never came."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Log Haven. Hartley was a real gem and new the menu inside and out. Ian, their sommelier recommendations were spot on. A personal favorite of the group was the Miso Halibut and the Gobelsberger Gruner Veltliner. You can order a lobster tail to any entree, which is a nice touch, in addition to their special Steak and Lobster (as I am not a carnivore - this was a nice offering by our server). Besides the talents of the chef (also thoroughly enjoyed the Yellofin Tuna with the king trumpet mushrooms, with a local cheese and grilled asparagus), the restaurant sit in the middle of a lush national forest. It's Utah at it's finest - views, extensive wine list, and an eclectic menu for all my foodie friends."

  • "Log Haven is in a beautiful setting. This restored log cabin/lodge is surrounded by pines and it looks out at a waterfall. The food was excellent, service attentive and the atmosphere is perfect for those special occasions."

  • "My very first impression was the grounds are beautiful, the log cabin is very charming and cosy. As we approached the reservation desk the general manager was there I felt like I was an intruder, I had requested a couple of my wishes on OpenTable for the special occasion and I could see that no one had taken the time to review them or OpenTable did not inform them. We had a wonderful waitress that was perfectly attentive, friendly, and very professional. The presentation of the plate was nice, my steak was very tasty, however the Lobster was very poor quality, cold, lacking flavor, and very small."

  • "Outstanding venue in the canyon. Beautiful setting. Server was very good; attentive but not intrusive. Disappointed in the food. Got the nightly special and the meat was a bit tough, fatty, and a bit overdone. Very small portion of the vegetable that accompanied the steak. Filled the plate with French fries. The vegetable was very tasty and well prepared, but too little of it. Dessert was delicious and great coffee. For the price, I would have expected a much better main dish."

  • "A piece of halibut, ten mushrooms the size of a dime, and a small roll for fifty bucks! Gotta be kidding, no salad, no vegetable, potato or rice. Look at the waterfall in the parking lot, then save your money and eat a terrific meal at the Oasis cafe."

  • "Found on Internet and were delighted with the find. 1920's log home saved from demolition and restored by current owner as a restaurant. Unique, visually appealing setting. Meal was first rate. Try the scallops or the halibut."

  • "Rustic mountain cabin feel with cool waterfall view from dining room. Live piano music on our Saturday night visit. Our reservation was seated quickly. $30-$40 entrees. The food was very good, especially combined with the ambiance and service, but I've perhaps had better in this price range. Popular spot for weddings, which are pretty well contained but you can definitely tell when one is going on. They provided validation for the Millcreek Canyon road fee paid on your way out. Fun spot overall for a nice date, very charming."

  • "Dinner near a waterfall. Delicious. I had the halibut and my son had the bison. All perfectly prepared and a nice surprise. You drive into a wilderness area and of course we were concerned that the food would be concession like! Not the case it was fine dining! Highly recommend!"

  • "We had a wonderful dinner at Log Haven, on the patio. Our server Mishca, was top-notch. He was kind, always available, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We happened to have really good timing and got a chance to talk with Executive Chef, David Jones. He even offered to take our photo in front of the waterfall. The food was fantastic! The Alpine Nachos are an amazing starter. The Pinot Noir was one of the best I have tasted. It was a wonderful evening. We relaxed in a beautiful setting, ate an amazing meal, and lingered over wine and cocktails. It could not have been a better evening. "

  • "It was an excellent experience, except for two issues: 1) when one makes a reservation, one does not wait for 25 minutes for a table (the restaurant may have been understaffed that evening, but still...) 2) the scallop entree has cheese on the risotto, which is an awful match (cheese does not go with seafood). I love the ambience and quiet setting. "

  • "Thanks for being a restaurant actually run by REAL professional chefs. You can always tell the Chefs that enjoy cooking and the passion they have for the food. It is very rare and very enjoyable. Log Haven will continue to be a regular restaurant for us to visit. Thanks!"

  • "Log Haven has become the place that we go to for any special occasion! You can't beat it's ambience. It's rustic, charming, quiet and relaxing. We always have great waiters who know a lot about the food, and who make sure our drinks are always full. The food is so so. I feel like for the price it should be a little better but considering all the other bonuses of this place, we continue to go. The frozen banana coconut soufflé is AMAZING and the perfect ending to your dinner. We have been quite a bit but I never can remember much about what I eat. I feel like you're paying for the ambience of the place which, most nights we feel is worth it. We will continue to go when we need to get away just the two of us for an evening."

  • "We make it a habit of celebrating special "milestones" at Log Haven. The annual high holy festival of filial guilt is one such special day. Log Haven lived up to its well-deserved reputation. The meal was as usual, excellent, the menu choices were varied enough to be outside the realm of the normal "set" menu one encounters for such days. The server was very attentive, and the price was such that we didn't encounter the usual Utah phenomenon of yowling brats. In other words, well worth it. We went home thoroughly satisfied. Having dined at Log Haven since Ms. Provost took on the daunting task of bringing it back from a state of total neglect, we can only say "Well Done"! Yes, we look forward to many more pleasurable events with you."

  • "I've been to this restaurant many times but it had been a few years. It was nice to find the service and food were still just as good. It is a good atmosphere and when the outdoor patio opens, it is really nice."

  • "I took my wife to Log Haven for Mother's Day brunch. The food and service were great as always. Away from the hustle and bustle of SLC the views of the trees and waterfall make it such a peaceful place to dine. Add in some snow flurries and it was a magical, romantic meal. We love this place for any occasion or no occasion at all. If you go once, you'll go back again."

  • "I had not been to Log Haven in 20 years, but my fiancee and I dined there this weekend. It was better than I remembered. The ambiance, service, food (especially the Angus peppercorn steak), and the wine list were impeccable. Although this is a dark, romantic place, it never felt overwrought with propriety and snobbery. Although it has, true to its name, a log cabin feel to it, it lacked the cheesey ambiance that can come with such a place. There were no animal heads on the wall or tacky furniture. A couple did come in with a small child. They kept her entertained and quiet. Overall, this is not a place for small children, especially during dinner. This is a place adults want to go for the fine food, romance, the scenery, or all three. "

  • "Offered unusual & tasty Vegan Entree & interesting & tasty roast carrot Burrata starter. Though good the Vegetarian menu isn't deep, so it will be a while until we return. Wait staff attentive and pleasant, but not polished - seemed rumpled as well."

  • "The duck was excellent (entrée) as were the potato chip nachos (appetizer). The 1920 log structure blended perfectly into the beautiful wooded canyon that made for an incredible dining experience. Also, be sure to ask the manager about the ghosts that are thought to roam the rooms of this quaint and historic restaurant. Finally, my colleague left the lights in the car on. The manager was kind enough to run out in the rain and turn them off. Another example of the great service that we received."
