"We arrived at the "Lodge Restaurant" and although it was over half empty, we had to wait several minutes before being seated because the hostess could only find one menu. We were sat in the room between the bar and a conference room, which was actually somewhat loud. The table was were small and the chairs were too low for the table. The best part of the meal was the duck salad as they take their vegetables straight out of their own organic garden. However, the scallops were small and very salty and the cook chose to cut the scallops in half (which dried them up during the cooking). I had the Pork Chop which was way over-cooked towards medium-well done. You can't call your cook a "chef" if he can't prepare simple scallops and pork chop."

"The food was excellent and definitely a neighborhood hang out spot. We had reservations and were seats immediately, but the staff did not come to serve us or acknowledge us for over 10 minutes. Once we spoke up, the service became attentive. Because it is the main restaurant for the resort, there were many kids dining there which did not give it a very romantic feel."

"This may have been the best meal I have ever eaten. Period. It is without a doubt the most perfect steak I have ever experienced. It made Mortens and Ruth's Chris look like Golden Corral. The rest of the meal was on par with the steak. The flavors in each course were beautiful arrays that completely involved the range of my palette. The wine pairings were spot on and the service was phenomenal. This was a dining experience. I will be back soon."

"Perfect for a romantic pre-Valentine's Day dinner. A lovely fireplace kept the restaurant warm and cozy on a rainy night. The food was seasonal, beautifully presented and quite good, and we appreciated the selection of local Monterey area wines. Our server had just the right touch of friendliness, which added to the pleasure of the evening. We will definitely be back!"

"The food here was outstanding! My compliments to the chef he or she is truly a master! I would have given the Lodge restaurants five stars if it were not for the host that night. The waiter was wonderful and even the manager who greeted us but our host was just not very accomodating and this was our very first impression. He seemed disdainful, so much so that it affected our experience this evening and that I would think twice returning here on our next visit to Carmel despite the excellent cuisine. So overall a little bitter sweet but the excellent Champagne helped neutralize the bad aftertaste."
