Lockwood Restaurant and Bar
Great when seeing a show. This place is a block away from the Bank of America theatre. So you can finish dinner at 7:20PM and still get there with 5 minutes to spare. The mood is slightly on the "dimmed light" look. More romantic. Nice use of mirrors with cut outs. Seemed to have more hotel guest using it since it's in the Palmer House on Monroe. Menu is limited in selections compared to other places. You may want to go on line to check it out. And it is pricy $$$. No bottle of wine under $42. Tab will reach just over $200 for two with: Tax (Chicago charges 10%) and tip. Meals were perfectly prepared and presented. First class place. There is parking lots all around and you pay Chicago parking prices too.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLockwood's in ChicagoWe were in town at the Palmer House celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offered the prix fixe dinner options from 5 PM to 10 PM at such an upscale restaurant. We had a wonderful dinner and the food was delicious. The waiter was attentive and made helpful suggestions. We hope to return soon.
Oh and they had gluten free beer-which is a plus for me.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSalty scallopsEnjoyed the vegetable risotto and the foie gras with cherries but the scallops were over salted.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food. Nice atmosphereVery good food. Nice atmosphere and wonderful service.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA serene dinner in the mad house ofWonderf ul resturant We had an extra person join the party so they quiety moved us to a bigger table. Everyone ordered sea food all of it was spectacular tasted fresh and wonderful The swervers were great You could even talk to your fellow quests without noicy competition.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but limited menuThe variety was limited. The food was excellent for me (sea scallops and salmon) but my wife thought the Monk fish needed a more flavorful sauce. There is chicken on the fixed price menu but not the regular menu. The desserts on the fixed price menu were not offered to us but we did ask and receive the custard. We don't understand why they limit a very limited menu. The bar was hopping on Friday night.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMLoop GemQuality of food and atmosphere are outstanding. Should be harder to get reservations.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. OverpricedThe food was good. Some desserts were good but I felt that they focused more on how the desserts looked than how they tasted. The check surprised me since it was $68 for service even though all the waiters did was poor sparkling juice in my cup. I could've done that myself.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dinner & Theatre ComboGreat place to have a nice meal before heading to the Bank of America Theatre. Restaurant is in the main lobby of the Palmer House Hotel so it is a very short walk between the two. The main lobby is great to walk through and sit in, although you cannot see it from the restaurant because of curtains. That is unfortunate because the noise of the lobby does come in but you don't get to enjoy the view of the lobby. It can be a bit noisy but it wasn't a major detraction. Food is excellent! The Prix Fixe menu had excellent options and the service was great!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding Dining ExperienceWas a little bit worried about dining here because it was in a hotel. So glad that we decided to make reservations. The experience was oustanding, from our waiter to the food. We did the wine pairings with the chef's selections. The restaurant/chef did one of the best jobs I have ever experienced of pairing the wine with the food. Will definetly be returning for another visit.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch at the LockWood RestaurantGreat place for a business lunch in the heart of downtown. The lunch items are very interesting and innovative. Bento box right next lobster roll with your choice of salad or fruit. Go for the sweet fruit side since the salad was just a few small leaves of lettuce. I would call that garnish rather than salad. But the ambiance is perfect for a business lunch on a very professional setting without too many interruptions from the staff. They were there just when needed. Good tap water without the chlorine taste. They must pour bottled water, which all restaurants of this caliber should do. I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to my next visit.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely Fabulous! My family and I were first lured to Lockwood a few years ago with a promotion, maybe a Groupon, that I don't remember. But I do remember how much we enjoyed it. So we came back, and back again, and then again this past Saturday evening. When I asked my daughter where she'd like to have dinner to celebrate her 13th birthday, she automatically said Lockwood. And not because she's an unsophisticated child barely out of chicken nuggets, but because she's dined with me everywhere from Sixteen to WD50 to Sandrine's and knows what's good. Everything about our meal was perfect. Chicago has their goats and purple pigs and restaurants that only take reservations with tickets, which I really don't get, but we love Lockwood.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely setting & delicious dinnerWe had a lovely dinner at Lockwood in the Palmer House. From the walk past the Peacock Doors in the lobby to the end with the delicious blackberry goat cheese panna cotta, it was great evening and restaurant choice. Starters included the Octopus -- visually stunning & delicious -- and the Foie Gras -- also fantastic. Entrees were the Salmon -- elegantly presented & mouthwatering -- and the rainbow trout -- generous and much enjoyed. It was a great treat to dine in the beautiful Lockwood at the Palmer House.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant in theExcellent restaurant in the heart of downtown in the landmark Palmer House Hotel. The setting is beautiful and classy from the moment the hostess acknowledges you, then you know that this is a special place. She asked if we had any time restrictions for theater or concert. What a way to start my birthday dinner. Great water service by a friendly face and the best salmon I ever had anywhere but unfortunately the snapper that my friend ordered was tough. I also really liked the sides, which was a blend of different ingredients that complimented the salmon perfectly. The dessert was beautifully presented with a birthday candle, without our asking. Nice touch. I would have rated this OUSTANDING if it had not been for the tough snapper.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid performer, above theSolid performer, above the bar for hotel dining. Good atmosphere for good food. Convenient for pre- or post-symphony dining.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch/Dinner great optionsBreakfast was OK, and the buffet option a good deal. The wait staff was pre-occupied with settled into the newly renovated space. As a result we waited for a long time for our second cup of coffee. Our waiter was courteous and kind.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways lovely and accommodating....Always lovely and accommodating....Food is fresh with creative style.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMUsually wary of hotel restaurantsBut this one was a pleasant surprise. I thought we were in for it when the surly hostess walked us to our seats as if we were ruining her night. But it turned out to be just her. Our waiter was exceptional - and now I feel badly that I can't remember his name! He was knowledgeable, both about the wine list and the menu, not afraid to offer an opinion, and very hospitable. We went with the tasting menu - and we were not disappointed. This menu changes frequently, but the night we were there, the pea soup, flatiron steak and vanilla custard were standouts. You aren't going to find anything really exotic here, but what they make is so beautifully-prepared that your mouth will leave happy.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was incredible. MyThe food was incredible. My waiter suggested popular menu selections, and they met everything I could imagine and more.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways superb....Food, AmbianceAlways superb....Food, Ambiance & Service Never dissappointing2/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time toThis was our first time to Lockwood and it won't be our last. The food was excellent, both the steak and the fish. Our server was so accomodating as we had theater tickets and he made sure we made it on time. If your looking for an amazing experience go to Lockwood.2/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate there with friendsWe ate there with friends on a Saturday night before going to the theater, and it was excellent. The food was great, really delicious and special - pork belly appetizer was one of the best I've had, and their cod was excellent as well. Everything I tasted - salmon, pork 3-ways and two desserts - was done well. I highly recommend having a lovely dinner there before a show, and will do so again soon!12/29/2012 12:00:00 AM
