  • "Food exceeded the high expectations to which we've grown accustomed over many years, that is, even better than usual. Our server was very helpful and attentive."

  • "This is a place that has always been a favorite. It is well known for it's prime rib but I chose to have the filet which was excellent. They have a good salad bar or they offer to make a variety of salads for you. My friend ordered shrimp scampi and said it also was very good in a buttery garlic sauce. Reservations are a good idea especially on the weekends."

  • "per usual, the prime rib was fantastic. the service was very good. The music was too loud. I couldn't hear people very well at the end of our table."

  • "We Love love love love LS&B. However.. this was not our best experience there. 2 People in our group ordered the barrel steaks... tuff as nails! The server never once asked how our steak was cooked etc....We wittled away at it.. small tuff pieces ant took most of it home. Kindof disapointing. AND.. HE took our rolls before we were done... would have loved one of those with my leftovers! Server not very attentive....just sayin. It wasnt to busy . Dessert was delicious.. Chocolate torte.."

  • "After dining with L S n B for years in both the old and new locations, the service has changed. Perhaps it was the waiter or possibly the economy, however what was once a truly pleasant dining experience, is no longer or at least was not the evening we were there. As always, food was great and obviously prepared with care and professionalism. Service was not on par with L S n B's normal service policies. Noise level was less than conductive to dinner conversation as between the rest of the diners and the live performance in the adjoining bar, hearing each other was almost impossible. Waiter was either on my elbow constantly, or no where to be found."

  • "Reserved a booth two days in advance. When seated we got a mini half table which was not a booth then we were moved to a huge booth. Wife's steak was over cooked and dry my steak was supposed to be cooked medium and when I got it was bleeding in the middle really disappointed we will not go back spent 120"

  • "Our entire experience was astounding! From the time we walked in the door until we left all the employees we encountered were great. The food, as usual, was perfect. This is undoubtedly the best steak house in Boise. Cooked to perfection! The salad bar is also great and fresh with a wide variety."

  • "The prices were a little high however we had a coupon for half off. The salmon special was amazing. We had never been to this restaurant before and were pleasantly surprised I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion."

  • "Can't beat the house salad and petite sirloin for an absolutely wonderful meal. Throw in the sauteed mushrooms, a glass of red wine, great company and excellent service and you're good to go! Thanks LS&B for a great Friday evening. :-)"

  • "I had the best Ribeye that I've ever had at a restaurant at Lock Stock and Barrel! However, the plant by my head was dusty and the decor was sooooo outdated and kind of ugly. This place has been open long enough w/ success to be able to afford to redecorate I believe!! Do it guys, it will payoff in the long run!!!"

  • "I think this is a decent restaurant, but not a great steak house. These steaks were very mediocre, not what we were eagerly anticipating. When you pay this much you expect good flavor. The staff were very nice, the ambience fine, the band fun. Our waitress was nice but forgot a couple things we needed to remind her of. The side dishes were decent, but the house wine I received was like vinegar. It was just a house wine, but still, I've had very decent house wines before. We ate upstairs, which felt claustrophobic to me but others might think it cozy. All in all, not a bad place. I might go back again and give it another try, but I won't be sitting upstairs or drinking the house wine."

  • "We had a special occasion and we were a bit disappointed by the food. Several menu items were described as 'beer battered', so when the fish and chips came coated in Panko, it was a big disappointment. The Prime Rib was lovely but didn't really have a lot of flavor--I expected more. Salad bar was great: very fresh, beautifully presented and all the right offerings. The two dressings we tried were excellent, creamy and light. Buttermilk Ranch and Thousand Island. I haven't been to a 'Steak House' in many years. We'd probably try another place next time."

  • "My folks used to take us when we were little (35 years!)....back on Emerald. Now my Husband and I go for all our special occasions. The food is amazing! Best steak I have ever had...I must admit, I do miss the old location. The downtown location is nice....but super loud. I wouldn't consider any of the tables to be "intimate". Everyone can see and hear every part of your evening. But despite that, you'll enjoy the best food of your life...excellent wine list....and great service. We'll continue to celebrate all our family events at Lock Stock & Barrel!"

  • "I took my wife to your restraunt for her birthday on 2/24/14. We were greeted by two ladies with great smiles. They brought us to a boothe and sat us. Then our waitress showed up and couldn't have been more pleasant. I forgot her name but she was a brunette and her Dad was at the table next to us. She was the best! Took really good care of us. Anyway, we had a great experience. Would go there again. Thanks for the great time!"

  • "I had forgotten they have live music at Lock Stock and Barrel. Back in the day, this was never an issue, but I'm older now and appreciate being able to converse with my dinner partners. The Hostess seated us and assured us the music would not be a problem. She was right. It was nice to have a waiter who did not refer to us as "GUYS". He took very good care of us. He was professional but not stuffy. The food was as good as I remember (except the mushrooms were over sautéed). Make sure you are hungry though, as the portions are generous. If you are looking for a restaurant serving a nice piece of beef, this restaurant is a good choice. I found the prices are a little lower than some of the other downtown steak houses."

  • "I was at lock stock and barrel for valentines day dinner with my girl friend. She ordered well done steak (no pink). She explained this to the server. When the meal arrived her steak was not as she order and was a medium at best. She requested the steak be cooked longer. The steak was microwaved and returned The steak was fed to dogs when we got home. For a $35 steak it should have been cooked right the first time or a new steak prepared. Unexceptable . The salad bar was very skimpy not as it used to be. Years ago lock stock and barrel was the primary place to go. Not so much today. Find another place to go."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Had great service, thanks. I actually thought the portions were a little small, perhaps it's because we had the Valentines special? I don't know. I did wish I had a larger piece of the prime rib and my wife's steak wasn't as large as I thought it would be. I did not care for the cheesy potato side and the asparagus was steamed with no flavor."

  • "The barrel steaks were very good! Clam chowder and Vegetable Beef Barley were tasty. We didn't try the salad bar. Our server Jim was friendly and attentive. I thought the decor for a downtown restaurant would have been a little nicer. A little dark and old looking interior. The drinks needed some help. We had margaritas and a whiskey sour, maybe they need a different bar tender or just some better alcohol. Overall, a nice place to go for dinner. Parking was easy and free."

  • "We had dined at this restaurant at a previous location, and were always delighted with the food, service and atmosphere! We had not dined at this location but a few times for lunch, since the new location was much further from our home, but my husband chose it for his birthday dinner. We invited our granddaughter and her special friend, who was celebrating his birthday as well. The food was very disappointing, the steaks were tough and the soups both had a floury taste. The salad bar was okay, but nothing special! We won't be dining there again. The one positive note was the reservation and choice of seating location."

  • "We went here for our anniversary, and we put that on the open table reservation, not a word was said. Ambiance was not good. Food was good, but very expensive for vinyl booths and no table cloth. And the wine list is miserably disappointing. For the same price, I prefer Barbacoa, Chandlers, Cottonwood Grill, or even The Melting Pot. Don't waste your time here."

  • "Our favorite restaurant, Murphy's in Boise, closed this last fall. We hadn't been to Lock Stock & Barrel for a long time, so took my wife their for her birthday this last weekend. We got reservations via their "Open Table" link (great program!) and everything was almost perfect! The food was superb; the steaks and prime rib were cooked just right, the broccoli (we did that instead of potatoes) was NOT overcooked and the sauce was very good), the wine was excellent, and everything went perfectly. Reservation was right on time; special seating we'd asked for was accommodated; and our 10-year old grandson was treated like a "real person." Prices were excellent for the quality we got. I think we've found our new favorite restaurant in Boise."

  • "The service was wonderful food was equally special; GREAT steaks. My wife and I go there on special occasions and have never been disappointed. Our only negative thought is the restaurant is a little noisy, but we will keep going back."

  • "Went in on New Year's Eve. We were not quite ready to eat when our reservation was due. Restaurant was very accomodating to let us have a cocktail first. Once seated (upstairs!), the service was awesome. The waiter was very personable and ready to please. I ordered the Alaskan King Crab Legs, which I only get once every few years. It was terrific. Very fresh. My husband ordered the prime rib. I was worried that it would not be available that late in the evening or would be overdone, but it was available and perfectly cooked (medium rare). All in all, an excellent experience!"

  • "My husband gave me a Christmas present of dinner at Lock, Stock & Barrel on New Year's Eve. We had an early reservation, as we are retired and live in Oreana, which is an hour & a half drive to the restaurant, and night driving is not our forte. We were greeted and seated instantly. We had excellent service provided by Hank and his array of helpers. Our dinner started with a cocktail of Pendleton's whiskey, then an appetizer of blue crab and shrimp. Our food was top drawer; a nice salad and soup bar, filet and sirlion of beef, baked potato, broccoli & rolls. Our servers could not have done anything more to see that we had everything that we wanted. Upon leaving, all of the personnel wished us a happy new year, of which it was!!"

  • "This was my first visit to Lock Stock and Barrel and it was extremely enjoyable. We had steaks and crab legs and couldn't ask for better. The service was outstanding. I wasn't sure what to expect of the setting but it was nice, open and a little louder than I prefer considering some the prices but the steaks were outstanding."

  • "This is one of my husband & I's favorite spots for steak in Boise, hands down. We had a nice time celebrating the closing of 2013 with great service & food. Would highly recommend. Pretty casual atmosphere where you don't feel awkward being dressed up or coming in a shirt & blue jeans."
