Cute little placeDont be fooled by the storefront of this cute little restaurant. Food was great and the service was superb. Attentive and nice!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAppetizers were delicious!!Appetizers were delicious!! Children were served a small portion of pasta while the adults were eating the appetizers, which was very nice. Pasta entrees were so-so. The best one was the linguini with clams. We tried four other pastas, and they were not that good. I ordered the spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce and was served a glob of starchy spaghetti in the middle of my plate, and the sauce did not taste like fresh tomatoes. We go to Italy every year, and the food did not compare to the food that we eat there. However, the desserts were delicious. The profiteroles and the cannoli were outstanding, and the gelato was very good!! Service was above excellent. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA neiborhood gem!Lovely people-charming place---felt like we were "away" in some little spot in Northern Italy
...and the food was delicious as well4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to this restaurantI have been to this restaurant five or six times and it never disappoints me. The quality of the food is excellent. The care taken in preparation and presentation is evident and the flavors are outstanding and memorable, particularly the wild boar and lamb dishes. The pasta is clearly made from scratch and is cooked to perfection.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMA very charming, tiny ItalianA very charming, tiny Italian restaurant, good menu choices and specials.
Seems like you are sitting in a restaurant in a small town in Italy....lovely ambiance.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBravo Locanda PositanoWe discovered Locanda Positano a couple of years ago during dineLA and loved the food and wine at once! Some of our earlier reviews may still be readable on Open Table. The restaurant is small (about 30 covers), and Lincoln Blvd outside is busy ... but it's the food, wine and service that you'll remember. This time we had Pappardelle al Cinghiale and Lasagnetta Rustica al sugo di Vitello for dinner -- regular menu items that are terrific. And this is just days after we had a fabulous Saturday night dinner here starting with Cozze Vongole e Polipetti alla Luciana and followed by two specials -- cinghiale (wild boar) osso buco and tagliatelle with white truffles. We rarely eat at Italian restaurants, but Locanda Positano is a "must do".4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming, romantic, a sliceCharming, romantic, a slice of Italy (or at least Little Italy) in Marina del Rey. Try the Linguine with Vongole and a glass of the Gavi. Also the bufalo mozzarella with speck and arugula is out of this world. LOVE this place!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMOld world flair in an oddOld world flair in an odd locale. Food, wine and service were exceptional! We even ate as a family with 4 children and we were tolerated well. The desserts were lovely!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I went forMy husband and I went for our 3 year anniversary and it was the prefect way to spend the evening. The food was outstanding. I had the pappardelle with wild boar and my husband had the veal lasagna. Both were amazing. The service was great and everyone was very nice. The restaurant is small so I definitely recommend reservations. We will be returning for sure!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSee review "Bravo LocandaSee review "Bravo Locanda Positano" posted for April 18th visit.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIf you have eaten at a littleIf you have eaten at a little restaurant on the Amalfi Coast you will feel right at home in Locanda Positano, as befits its name. The food is very good without being pretentious or over the top, the staff is attentive in a quietly efficient European way, and the ambiance is very pleasant, although Saturdy nights are definitely noisy. The food shows a nice attention to detail and is very authentic -- a recent special was braised wild boar shank, for example. The wine list is very impressive -- not too many places have Aglianico wines, a specialty of the area inland of Naples,on their list, but LP has two. It's tiny. a real neighborhood gem for the marina area.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been a half dozenWe have been a half dozen times and love this little place. It's like being somewhere else entirely... Very pleasant service. A sweet small peaceful room. You can have a conversation with everyone at the table...4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic. AndThe food was fantastic. And for me, that's everything. What might have ruined my dining experience--my server didn't hear my main course order and thought he heard that my appetizer would be it for the night--ended up being a great thing, because my fellow diners each gave me a little off their plates while I waited. Because I rarely sample, this nudge proved to be a blessing! The tagliatelle with truffles was mind blowing. My own seafood risotto was VERY good. And the branzino was perfection. Even with the snag, I am a huge fan! We will be back.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMIt has to say something whenIt has to say something when I didn't actually like my entree all that much but still give the restaurant a high rating. But, I can't blame the restaurant if I planned to order one thing but made a switch when I ordered. And, the entree I did order was very well made, just not really what I wanted as it turned out. All that being said, all our food was excellent and it appeared that all the food coming out of the kitchen was equally good. This is delicious, classic Italian cuisine. The restaurant is small and intimate, and could potentially feel crowded. But, you should be enjoying your meal so much you that you won't notice. Nice wines with a good range of prices. Attentive, friendly service.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHad an excellent rigatoniHad an excellent rigatoni dish and my wife enjoyed her pasta also. The mushroom salad was excellent and wines by the glass added to our enjoyment. Service was supurb. One of the better Italian restaurants in our City. Now if we could mute the noise a bit!!! You certainly feel like you are in a great restaurant in Florence or another part of Italy.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA true gemdon't miss this tiny restaurant. Gracious service and superb cuisine make this a find. If Bronzino is on the menu, do try it. Any pasta dish is superb as well.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBravo, Locanda Positano! We lived in Italy for 5 years. This food is authentic. The pappardelle al cinghiale is awesome. Great wine list. Intimate setting and excellent service. The restaurant only seats 28 so you have to make a reservation in advance otherwise you will not get in.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic! VeryThe food was fantastic! Very cute little restaurant, too. The only reason I rated 4 stars on ambiance was that it was incredibly noisy and it was difficult to hear my companion who was sitting right in front of me. Some sound-proofing may be in order.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMslow to seat, approximatelyslow to seat, approximately 40 minutes after reservation time. understandably in a small restaurant this can happen, but we should have been offered a glass of wine or something while we had to stand in a crowded area; other than that poor beginning the rest of our experience was excellent, food, service were impeccable.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is amazing but unfortunateThe food is amazing but unfortunately, the space so small that it's noisy when even 1/2 full and you sit extremely close to your 'neighbor'.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food and good service, excellent food and good service, but a bit pricy for the location.1/22/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best restaurants aroundThis is definitely one of the best restaurants in the area. We went there for our anniversary based on Yelp reviews, and it proved to be the perfect pick. Very small restaurant (only around 10 tables), so it has a very intimate atmosphere. The cooking is just awesome, real old-school italian-grandma style cooking. Everything is prepared fresh (so bring some time) and tastes amazing. We will definitely go there again, it's a great spot for a special occasion.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
