I went with my fiancee and another couple. We had a fabulous time, our waiter was a hoot and the food was authentic Italian food, which means it was really good! My friend is Italian and she said the food was excellent. The desserts are also very yummy at Locanda Del Borgo. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

I have lived 3 blocks north of this fund ever since the previous restaurant was Cherry Tomato. We planned a birthday diner there, and what a GEM! My husband is raw vegan, and they effortlessly accommodated his diet and mine, as a vegetarian! Thank you for making the evening so special and so.....easy! We'll be back!

I really like this place, it has always treated us well. The menu is a little pricey for the neighborhood, $7-10 for s starter salad, but you do get good food, fresh ingedients and a knowledgable staff. I seem to have the nightly special or veal of the day. My wife leans towards seafood generally but defers to the pasta when in doubt. Always good, wine matches well but be prepared, if it's a date night you are going to sit on top of each other. All two-tops and with candles, set-ups, etc. The tables are so close you actually hear every conversation around you and I am partially deaf. Plus, two tops for everyone? If you have a glass of water, wine, complimentary bread and two entrees, both the server and you are busy rearranging the table for your meal. It becomes a bit stressful and a me at such a fine place should be anything but that. There are larger tables in the bar area, where you sit higher and maybe next time we'll see if we can request that. So, good food, good staff, meet your neighbor whether you like it or not and don't be clumsy reaching for something.

Our waitress was very friendly, but did not seem to be attentive. She brought us the wrong bottle of wine and when the error was pointed out to her, repkied that she liked the bottle she brought better than the one we had ordered. Then, she put in the wrong food order for all 3of our meals. Our broccoli got cold as we waited for the correct meals to be prepared. When I complained to the manager, he indicated our waitress was one of there best and basically discounted my complaint. I eat at this restaurant frequently. The service has always been good in the past. I ws actually more offended by the response of the manager than by the poor service.

They don't have their brick oven dishes (Pizza & Lasagna) available for Tuesday lunches, which we didn't know since that info is not available until you try to order it. it's because they are closed on Mondays and oven takes until dinner Tuesday to get hot enough. That makes the menu very limited, and we would not have chosen to go there if we'd known after seeing the menu online. Also, service was slow, especially considering how few were in the restaurant at that time.

For the second visit in four weeks, we ordered wine only to find out it was no longer available. The first time we were told they were changing the wine list. Fine, but why to they have the same wine menu four weeks latter. It's annoying to find out that your first two wine selections are no longer available. Service which is normally good was extremely poor on our last visit.

We were told about this hidden gem of an Italian restaurant in Hilltop. We were excited to attend after a long week of work. We were seated almost immediately as we had a reservation. But that is where it ended. The service was ridiculously slow as we had to ask twice for bread and it still took 15 minutes to get to us. It took a while just for a waitress to come over and attend to us. The Appetizers were pretty good, Burata and seafood misto, but our entrees were truly bad. My Pork chop, which was highly recommended by the server, was way over cooked and tough. My wife's clams and pasta was flavorless. Also, I had to cut my pork chop with a butter knife. Just a bad experience all around. Way over priced. could spend $100 better.

This is the 2nd time I have been to the wonderful place. Food was super, service exactly what you would expect. Nice wine list with reasonable pricing. If you like veal this is the best I have had in the Denver area. They never rush you to turn the table. Both times I have been there the experiences has been totally enjoyable and relaxing. Can't wait to be able to return again.

We've come to Locanda Del Borgo for several years, and are always happy with the service and the food. This last time I had a saffron risotto with shrimp, the shrimp were very large and tasted almost like lobster, it was quite delicious. Wine list is good and not overpriced.

This is not a quality restaurant. As usual the service is terrible. We had to ask for bread 3 times and ask for the wine twice. I thought that the server simply forgot to mention the specials until she again failed to mention them to the couple at the next table. A mixed vegetable dish was awful. Vegetables were old and soft. They were seasoned with a salty MSG infused seasoning. Pasta marinara was greasy and salty.

We go to Locando often and generally have been very pleased. But on 9/19/14, the service was inept and the food was just average. My wife had pasta, which was OK, and I had the risotto of the day. Very small serving, warm not hot, and it did not taste like it had been cooked through. Maybe just an off night? Hope so.

  • A terrific neighborhood bistro

In a part of town that is largely a restaurant wasteland, it is great to have Locando del Borgo, a neighborhood bistro that serves delicious food. My salad of butter lettuce with Gorgonzola and pears was just right: fresh, fresh lettuce; pleasingly salty Gorgonzola; and just enough dressing to bring it all together. The eggplant Parmesan was a real treat: not over-breaded; gratifyingly cheesy; and with a delicious tomato sauce. My friend, who is something of an eggplant Parmesan connoisseur, thought it was the best he's ever had. Topped off with a bottle of Prosecco, it was a very satisfying meal.

we always like coming here because of the great energy in the room and that great wood-fired smell, plus the food is usually terrific. this visit was marred by very slow service, though. our cocktails took 30 minutes to arrive (by which time we'd already finished our appetizers). and i never was able to order a second glass of wine because of the rare visits by our waitress. four stars overall for locanda, but three for this particular night.

The waitstaff was awful....place was not full...issue with the food, waiter said he was not charging for the entree...bill comes with entree charged (after waiting 10 minutes and asking 2 others for the bill) 10 more minutes to flag down the waiter who said the manager would not let him take the entree off. 10 more minutes to get the credit card (after going and standing at the bar because we were more than ready to leave!). My grandson liked his clams.

As always, Locando del Borgo continues to delight as the quintessential "neighborhood gem". A smoky ambience adds to the charm of the small-ish dining room; I am salivating before I am seated. Warm breads, smart appetizers, and generous salads get things underway. Although I'm sure the menu is full of delicious surprises, I never get past the spinach ravioli stuffed with braised short rib in a wild mushroom/cognac reduction (dinner only). For lunch, the pizza with Italian sausage and a butter leaf salad never fail to satisfy. Desert is always a homemade gelato (flavors that defy imagination!). A consistently pleasant experience and (note to self) a very disabled-friendly staff make Locando a true neighborhood gem in every way.
