For the second visit in four weeks, we ordered wine only to find out it was no longer available. The first time we were told they were changing the wine list. Fine, but why to they have the same wine menu four weeks latter. It's annoying to find out that your first two wine selections are no longer available. Service which is normally good was extremely poor on our last visit.

We were told about this hidden gem of an Italian restaurant in Hilltop. We were excited to attend after a long week of work. We were seated almost immediately as we had a reservation. But that is where it ended. The service was ridiculously slow as we had to ask twice for bread and it still took 15 minutes to get to us. It took a while just for a waitress to come over and attend to us. The Appetizers were pretty good, Burata and seafood misto, but our entrees were truly bad. My Pork chop, which was highly recommended by the server, was way over cooked and tough. My wife's clams and pasta was flavorless. Also, I had to cut my pork chop with a butter knife. Just a bad experience all around. Way over priced. could spend $100 better.

This is the 2nd time I have been to the wonderful place. Food was super, service exactly what you would expect. Nice wine list with reasonable pricing. If you like veal this is the best I have had in the Denver area. They never rush you to turn the table. Both times I have been there the experiences has been totally enjoyable and relaxing. Can't wait to be able to return again.

We've come to Locanda Del Borgo for several years, and are always happy with the service and the food. This last time I had a saffron risotto with shrimp, the shrimp were very large and tasted almost like lobster, it was quite delicious. Wine list is good and not overpriced.

This is not a quality restaurant. As usual the service is terrible. We had to ask for bread 3 times and ask for the wine twice. I thought that the server simply forgot to mention the specials until she again failed to mention them to the couple at the next table. A mixed vegetable dish was awful. Vegetables were old and soft. They were seasoned with a salty MSG infused seasoning. Pasta marinara was greasy and salty.

We go to Locando often and generally have been very pleased. But on 9/19/14, the service was inept and the food was just average. My wife had pasta, which was OK, and I had the risotto of the day. Very small serving, warm not hot, and it did not taste like it had been cooked through. Maybe just an off night? Hope so.

  • A terrific neighborhood bistro

In a part of town that is largely a restaurant wasteland, it is great to have Locando del Borgo, a neighborhood bistro that serves delicious food. My salad of butter lettuce with Gorgonzola and pears was just right: fresh, fresh lettuce; pleasingly salty Gorgonzola; and just enough dressing to bring it all together. The eggplant Parmesan was a real treat: not over-breaded; gratifyingly cheesy; and with a delicious tomato sauce. My friend, who is something of an eggplant Parmesan connoisseur, thought it was the best he's ever had. Topped off with a bottle of Prosecco, it was a very satisfying meal.

We ordered a whole wheat spaghetti dish, a ravioli dish that was on special, a veal piccata dish and a chicken dish. We all thought the flavors were delicious but for the most part found the portions small considering the prices, especially when the salads were ala carte.

we always like coming here because of the great energy in the room and that great wood-fired smell, plus the food is usually terrific. this visit was marred by very slow service, though. our cocktails took 30 minutes to arrive (by which time we'd already finished our appetizers). and i never was able to order a second glass of wine because of the rare visits by our waitress. four stars overall for locanda, but three for this particular night.

We were introduced to this restaurant by friends in early July. We liked it so much that we chose to come again for our monthly get togehter. The food is quite good and the selection has a lot of variety. The service is friendly and helpful, the wine list has many options. Definitely would recommend for a lovely Saturday date, or any time when a most pleasurable experience is desired.

The waitstaff was awful....place was not full...issue with the food, waiter said he was not charging for the entree...bill comes with entree charged (after waiting 10 minutes and asking 2 others for the bill) 10 more minutes to flag down the waiter who said the manager would not let him take the entree off. 10 more minutes to get the credit card (after going and standing at the bar because we were more than ready to leave!). My grandson liked his clams.

As always, Locando del Borgo continues to delight as the quintessential "neighborhood gem". A smoky ambience adds to the charm of the small-ish dining room; I am salivating before I am seated. Warm breads, smart appetizers, and generous salads get things underway. Although I'm sure the menu is full of delicious surprises, I never get past the spinach ravioli stuffed with braised short rib in a wild mushroom/cognac reduction (dinner only). For lunch, the pizza with Italian sausage and a butter leaf salad never fail to satisfy. Desert is always a homemade gelato (flavors that defy imagination!). A consistently pleasant experience and (note to self) a very disabled-friendly staff make Locando a true neighborhood gem in every way.

We normally enjoy helpful, efficient and very friendly service at Locanda -- but this was way off. Long delay in food delivery. Three requests for (initial) bread were unheeded - it didn't arrive until after the long-delayed main course. Requested olive oil twice - also long delayed. And water glasses sat empty, again with multiple requests for refills. Took friends there for the first time - and had we not assured them that this was an exception to the normally great service experience, they'd never go back.

Overall, a pretty poor experience. We arrived with reservations but were told that if we wanted to sit inside, we'd have to wait. We then decided to sit outside, but still had to wait about 10 minutes. Our waiter was very good. Food was quite disappointing. Wonderful neighborhood with few surrounding restaurants, but I would rather drive a bit and go someplace with better food.

My wife and I were in town for the weekend and needed a last minute dinner spot on July 4th. A waitress at a wine bar we visited earlier in the day recommended Locanda and as it turns out it was not far from where we were staying. From the moment we entered until the last bite we knew we had happened onto a gem. The service was friendly, prompt and not overbearing. Our waitress, Emily, was knowledgeable about the menu generally and specifically and was also very helpful with the wine list which is almost entirely Italian. Having been to Italy I can heartily recommend this gem in a quiet neighborhood to anyone looking to have expectations exceeded.

Had dinner with another couple on July 2nd. EXCELLENT meal with exemplary service. Very extensive wine list! We had a very slow dinner (4 hours!) and the restaurant was not bothered by this. In Europe, the table is yours for the evening; here they want to turn the table over 2-4 times in a night, so having a management that was not bothered by our long dinner was a treat. We have just returned from a month in Italy and I can truthfully say the food at Loconda Del Borgo is very authentic Italian, not Italian-American. If you have not tried this gem of a restaurant, I encourage you to!
