We ordered a whole wheat spaghetti dish, a ravioli dish that was on special, a veal piccata dish and a chicken dish. We all thought the flavors were delicious but for the most part found the portions small considering the prices, especially when the salads were ala carte.

we always like coming here because of the great energy in the room and that great wood-fired smell, plus the food is usually terrific. this visit was marred by very slow service, though. our cocktails took 30 minutes to arrive (by which time we'd already finished our appetizers). and i never was able to order a second glass of wine because of the rare visits by our waitress. four stars overall for locanda, but three for this particular night.

The food was lovely. The service although nice and very compitant, was unfortunately slow especially at the beginning when I didn't get my cocktail for approximately 20 minutes. I was disappointed that I couldn't switch out aside without having to pay an additional six or eight dollars.

This neighborhood restaurant has families with kids early in the evening, and a busy bar into the night. Who knew there is also wonderful food here? Great pastas and entrees, and wood-fired pizza that is beyond divine. Staff are knowledgeable about the food and wine. Great service, and friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. This place has everything.

We were introduced to this restaurant by friends in early July. We liked it so much that we chose to come again for our monthly get togehter. The food is quite good and the selection has a lot of variety. The service is friendly and helpful, the wine list has many options. Definitely would recommend for a lovely Saturday date, or any time when a most pleasurable experience is desired.

The waitstaff was awful....place was not full...issue with the food, waiter said he was not charging for the entree...bill comes with entree charged (after waiting 10 minutes and asking 2 others for the bill) 10 more minutes to flag down the waiter who said the manager would not let him take the entree off. 10 more minutes to get the credit card (after going and standing at the bar because we were more than ready to leave!). My grandson liked his clams.

As always, Locando del Borgo continues to delight as the quintessential "neighborhood gem". A smoky ambience adds to the charm of the small-ish dining room; I am salivating before I am seated. Warm breads, smart appetizers, and generous salads get things underway. Although I'm sure the menu is full of delicious surprises, I never get past the spinach ravioli stuffed with braised short rib in a wild mushroom/cognac reduction (dinner only). For lunch, the pizza with Italian sausage and a butter leaf salad never fail to satisfy. Desert is always a homemade gelato (flavors that defy imagination!). A consistently pleasant experience and (note to self) a very disabled-friendly staff make Locando a true neighborhood gem in every way.

We normally enjoy helpful, efficient and very friendly service at Locanda -- but this was way off. Long delay in food delivery. Three requests for (initial) bread were unheeded - it didn't arrive until after the long-delayed main course. Requested olive oil twice - also long delayed. And water glasses sat empty, again with multiple requests for refills. Took friends there for the first time - and had we not assured them that this was an exception to the normally great service experience, they'd never go back.

Overall, a pretty poor experience. We arrived with reservations but were told that if we wanted to sit inside, we'd have to wait. We then decided to sit outside, but still had to wait about 10 minutes. Our waiter was very good. Food was quite disappointing. Wonderful neighborhood with few surrounding restaurants, but I would rather drive a bit and go someplace with better food.

A friend recommended I try Locanda Del Borgo instead of my usual Italian spot for my birthday dinner. Bravissimo! The food was delicious (fritto misto, cheese plate, lasagna, bolognese, a cocktail, and shared tiramisu). Best calamari I've had. Great place to sit and take your time chatting between courses. Will definitely be back!

My wife and I were in town for the weekend and needed a last minute dinner spot on July 4th. A waitress at a wine bar we visited earlier in the day recommended Locanda and as it turns out it was not far from where we were staying. From the moment we entered until the last bite we knew we had happened onto a gem. The service was friendly, prompt and not overbearing. Our waitress, Emily, was knowledgeable about the menu generally and specifically and was also very helpful with the wine list which is almost entirely Italian. Having been to Italy I can heartily recommend this gem in a quiet neighborhood to anyone looking to have expectations exceeded.

Had dinner with another couple on July 2nd. EXCELLENT meal with exemplary service. Very extensive wine list! We had a very slow dinner (4 hours!) and the restaurant was not bothered by this. In Europe, the table is yours for the evening; here they want to turn the table over 2-4 times in a night, so having a management that was not bothered by our long dinner was a treat. We have just returned from a month in Italy and I can truthfully say the food at Loconda Del Borgo is very authentic Italian, not Italian-American. If you have not tried this gem of a restaurant, I encourage you to!

My 5 and half year old daughter and I went and were led to a very small table jammed in between two others which already had diners seated at them, the rest of the restaurant was fairly open. Why would you jam your patrons in like that? I inquired about sitting on the patio. I was told that the patio was for "other reservations" and that the hostess had to check. We were able to sit on the patio, however ,I overheard the hostess use the same words to other diners with reservations. "those tables are for other reservations" and led them to tables that were not great. Sadly this restaurant may come off of one of my favorites lists due to this poor level of service from the hostess.

We went to this excellent restaurant for the first time based on a recommendation from a co-worker. The service was attentive without being overbearing. My wife had the Lasagna and I had the Spinach Ravioli with short rib filling. Both were delicious. We definitely plan on going back with fiends. Our only peeve was that we while it was only the two of us we asked for a larger table which fits us better. The hostess insisted that we sit in a smaller "for two" table. During our hour and a half there most of the larger tables sat vacant. I think a restaurant this good could up their service ethos a bit and accommodate a simple request. Had this been handled better, I would have given the restaurant 5 stars.

We have eaten at Locanda many times and always enjoyed it. Last week we went twice, once with out of town friends and once by ourselves. We have reviewed this restaurant before so there is not much else to say except all of the pastas and sausage is homemade and it shows. Our friends were blown away by the quality of the food. The wine list is very attractive and there are some good buys. When you go, ask for Steven to be your server. He is excellent. If you like authentic Italian food this is the place for you.
