A word from Local's Corner
Local's Corner is a raw bar and seafood restaurant, serving only local and sustainably caught fish. Our wine and beer lists are all Californian.
There is a 6-course Chef's Tasting Menu available at the Chef's Counter for $65. When you reserve, please let us know if you are booking the Chef's Counter.
We are open for six days a week and take reservation for dinner.

  • "Three words: pretentious, pretentious, pretentious. We liked the food, however the service is so poor that it ruined the overall experience. We asked for some extra lemon for our oysters, and we never saw it. We order some bread, and 1) we had to pay for it 2) we had to wait 10-15 mins between the first and the second serving of bread arrived; when it arrived, it was dark for being over-toasted so we sent it back; and another 10-15 mins went by before we got a new serving. Also, we had a party of 5 and were told that plates were made for sharing; it turned out entree portions were so small they were impossible to share. And of course it was very expensive. Again, pretentious and not worth the price. I would not go back."

  • "Food was really good. Service was pretty poor, had to be prompted to bring menus, asked if she had already brought bread (she hadn't), generally a bit disorganised. She might have been new, but then should have been helped out. Also when serving tapas style share plates bring out dishes with strong spicy sauces later or exchange plates between dishes. The food was really very good though."

  • "I had a slice of pizza an hour before our reservation and still left hungry after ordering an entree (a steak dinner) and a cheese plate to share with a friend. The portions were so ridiculously tiny and menu was limited. I wanted to like this place but just can't. The best I can say for it is that the breakfast I had there another time, while not at all otherwise memorable, did not make such a negative impression."

  • "The service was the major drawback. Although our waitress was quite knowledgeable about the food and very pleasant, she was very slow and she ultimately brought us the wrong entrees. Also, the way that the service is done -- they sort of insist that you share each order -- was not o our liking. I waited for ten minutes while my husband had his entree -- that was partly due to the waitress's mistake, and it was also due to the way that they like to serve the food -- one dish at a time. That said, the squash salad was excellent, and the bread was amazing."

  • "Food was interesting and very tasty. We especially enjoyed the oysters, caviar plate with eggs, and a cocoa-flavored pasta dish with morels. One dish, basically pork rilletes on toast, was not quite what we were expecting. Atmosphere was generally great, although we were seated next to speakers -- we felt the volume of the music was a little too loud for the vibe of the place. Cute decor, not as crowded or hipstery as we thought it might be. An enjoyable meal and interesting menu. Server was very friendly. It would be nice if the restaurant offered a dessert menu."

  • "Tiny but smart use of the space. Nice neighborhood feel with four or five outdoor tables that is quaint. Had VERY different, light and extremely satisfying small plates. Started with radish, feta salad with arugula pesto that was wonderful. Followed that with a red trout that I think must have been another name for Arctic Char. Regardless, it was beautifully cooked with roasted carrots and fennel that were also very tasty. The dinner was a lovely way to spend our last night in San Francisco. "

  • "We went for the Dine for Life event on 4/22 but knew it would be great food based on our host having chosen it. We weren't disappointed. Very, very fresh seafood (though there are vegetarian and meat dishes on offer as well) inventively prepared. And our server was extremely knowledgeable about the (smallish) wine list. The relatively small space makes for a convivial experience. At first we were disappointed by no true dessert offering, but then realized we were happily satisfied. "

  • "Went with three people and ordered 10 different plates to share including oysters. Loved the halibut and uni. Recommendations for the asparagus salad and pasta by the waitress were excellent. Bill was on the pricey side but it was good fresh quality fish. Will definitely go back. "

  • "One of my foodie guests politely described Local's Corner fare as "very delicate." We didn't see enough options on the menu to have us leaving satisfied for under $100 per person -- if then -- although the posted menu made the fare seem reasonable. Our server suggested ordering two plates each and sharing them, but the three shell-roni-sized abalone-stuffed squid masquerading as one seafood entree, for example, were insufficient for sharing among four of us for even one little piece each, however tasty they may have been. The 12 oysters on the half shell for $24 might have made a good snack with beer before dinner elsewhere. The space is cramped and unimproved, the kitchen slow and the neighborhood a little too far off Mission."

  • "Nice to have a seafood restaurant that doesn't serve the same old, same old type of dishes. Their menu is pretty small, as are the portions (and I'm not a big eater). Oysters on the half shell are served at happy hour prices from 5 - 7 p.m.. We ordered the dungeness crab salad, black ink squid pasta with crab and uni, asparagus salad (that was served with an egg (reminded me of a brunch dish), pork butter bread and oysters. They recommend 2 - 3 courses per person.Everything was good esp. the pasta and the dungeness salad. I would certainly eat here again but in a city with so many amazing restaurants it wouldn't be on my short list.. Prices are in-line with most upscale restaurants. Restaurant has a small diner feel to it."

Unfortunately, this last time the restaurant was closed, Somebody forgot to tell Opentable they were closed or changed their hours or something. We will try again but please fix the communication gap. Standing outside the restaurant I double checked that I'd made the correct res. Bummer but oh well."

  • "I had the pleasure of meeting the head chef (Timmy) of L.C. at my bar a week before our visit. He offered me a dozen oysters on my first visit -- huge selling point! Arrived about 20 min. earlier than our reservation, and we got seated right away. The staff was extremely friendly, and the general feel of the place albeit on the smaller side was very cozy. Started off with a cheese selection, and a dozen oysters. The chef (Timmy was out of town) sent a few small bites (quail egg w/ caviar, smoked sturgeon, and a bite of the herring special) for us to enjoy. Main courses were rainbow trout and duck confit risotto. All of it was absolutely delicious. Easily some of the best food I've enjoyed in San Francisco. I'm talking Michelin-star quality."

  • "We visited this hidden gem on a Saturday night, after reading Zagat survey ratings of seafood restaurants. The price and portion were more than reasonable for the great food. Oysters were very fresh. The kitchen staff carefully cleaned and separated the oysters from the shells. The squid and crab salads were phenomenal, with complex flavors and artistic presentations. We sat at the counter and had the pleasure of chatting with the chefs. The restaurant is small, and the only suggestion I have is to add some fabric to the wall to absorb sound. For foodies, this is a place not to be missed. There is another restaurant (which serves desserts, pastries, and brunch) by the same owner. Hopefully we will visit them next time in town."

  • "This was our 3rd or 4th time here and Locals Corner is consistent everytime. The server is always kind, and beer and wine is always selected well. We had herring, and pickled salad that was absolutely amazing. The squid ink spaghetti was delicious and rich. This is a place we always recommend our many out town guests to and they all agree it's worth the visit."

  • "This was my second visit as this restaurant did not impress me for the first time. We were seated at the bar even though there were several tables open on Friday night. When we were ready to order, some staff were still chatting or looking at their iPhone. The disappointing service never got better throughout the meal. We started with Smoked Sturgeon, which was extremely salty. The entree dish Black Cod was decent, however, Squid Ink Spaghetti was incredibly salty to the point of being simply unpalatable. I often eat out, but by far, this was the saltiest food I have ever tasted. In addition, I tried to get over the uncomfortable feel of eating with a short & lightweight dessert fork instead of a dinner fork, but I couldn't."

  • "New Years Eve meal at Local's Corner was quiet, local and exactly what we were looking for. I found the service to be professional and friendly, exactly what you would expect at a very small corner restaurant who's name is a perfect description. The food was disappointing, however. I think the festivities began early in the kitchen and the food just didn't meet the mark. Nothing was bad, nothing was undercooked or uneatable, it just didn't have the seasoning, the completeness, and basically lacked the quality expected on special evenings."
