THis is not a review for food.
We've been to Local's Corner before and loved it. Unfortunately, this last time the restaurant was closed, Somebody forgot to tell Opentable they were closed or changed their hours or something. We will try again but please fix the communication gap. Standing outside the restaurant I double checked that I'd made the correct res. Bummer but oh well."

Good for causal brunch but too
pricy, good but not great for the quality of food, yet excellence service and nice crew of helpful staff."
Dined on 3/8/2014
This is a solid neighborhood find.
We got plenty to eat. Beer and wine only."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Awesome find thanks to Froder's
Guide. Our best meal in San Framcisco."

I had the pleasure of meeting the
head chef (Timmy) of L.C. at my bar a week before our visit. He offered me a dozen oysters on my first visit -- huge selling point! Arrived about 20 min. earlier than our reservation, and we got seated right away. The staff was extremely friendly, and the general feel of the place albeit on the smaller side was very cozy. Started off with a cheese selection, and a dozen oysters. The chef (Timmy was out of town) sent a few small bites (quail egg w/ caviar, smoked sturgeon, and a bite of the herring special) for us to enjoy. Main courses were rainbow trout and duck confit risotto. All of it was absolutely delicious. Easily some of the best food I've enjoyed in San Francisco. I'm talking Michelin-star quality."

We visited this hidden gem on a
Saturday night, after reading Zagat survey ratings of seafood restaurants. The price and portion were more than reasonable for the great food. Oysters were very fresh. The kitchen staff carefully cleaned and separated the oysters from the shells. The squid and crab salads were phenomenal, with complex flavors and artistic presentations. We sat at the counter and had the pleasure of chatting with the chefs. The restaurant is small, and the only suggestion I have is to add some fabric to the wall to absorb sound. For foodies, this is a place not to be missed. There is another restaurant (which serves desserts, pastries, and brunch) by the same owner. Hopefully we will visit them next time in town."

One of the best meals I've had in
the city and several foods I haven't had before or have infrequently. Everything was beautifully plated and seasoned wonderfully–really a delightful experience."
Dined on 1/24/2014
Nice, tasty, small seafood plates.
Not many options for non-seafood lovers. I enjoyed the meal, but found the prices a bit high."
Dined on 1/10/2014
This was our 3rd or 4th time here
and Locals Corner is consistent everytime. The server is always kind, and beer and wine is always selected well. We had herring, and pickled salad that was absolutely amazing. The squid ink spaghetti was delicious and rich. This is a place we always recommend our many out town guests to and they all agree it's worth the visit."
Dined on 1/14/2014
This is the place for you if you
love fish! Relatively quiet (a rarity these days) with excellent food."
Dined on 1/16/2014
The food is outstanding with
amazing favors. The ingredients are of the highest quality. My only pause is that the portions are very small. I was fairly hungry so it is not the best spot if you need more substance."
Dined on 1/2/2014
Good food, good service, too
expensive. Our group of 5 was the ONLY one there on a Thursday night."
Dined on 1/9/2014
This was my second visit as this
restaurant did not impress me for the first time. We were seated at the bar even though there were several tables open on Friday night. When we were ready to order, some staff were still chatting or looking at their iPhone. The disappointing service never got better throughout the meal. We started with Smoked Sturgeon, which was extremely salty. The entree dish Black Cod was decent, however, Squid Ink Spaghetti was incredibly salty to the point of being simply unpalatable. I often eat out, but by far, this was the saltiest food I have ever tasted. In addition, I tried to get over the uncomfortable feel of eating with a short & lightweight dessert fork instead of a dinner fork, but I couldn't."

New Years Eve meal at Local's
Corner was quiet, local and exactly what we were looking for. I found the service to be professional and friendly, exactly what you would expect at a very small corner restaurant who's name is a perfect description. The food was disappointing, however. I think the festivities began early in the kitchen and the food just didn't meet the mark. Nothing was bad, nothing was undercooked or uneatable, it just didn't have the seasoning, the completeness, and basically lacked the quality expected on special evenings."

I wish I could have a "Local's
Corner" in my neighborhood. It would be great if they have more intriguing appetizers for lunch."
Dined on 11/21/2013
Good was incredible - menu very
creative. Ambiance wa kid of dull, lights were a little bright. But definitely worth trying since the food really is incredible!!"
Dined on 11/5/2013
Friendly staff, good food (I even
managed to get a no-garlic few entrees), and cool retro small place."
Dined on 10/27/2013
Plates are little precious, but
the food is great."
Dined on 9/28/2013
Locals Corner consistently has
interesting food with an emphasis on veggies and sea food. Most dishes are very tasty and can be shared. Stay away from the abalone though as you need a magnifying glass to find it int he dish. The downer of this informal environment is that service while friendly is slow and inattentive. In the last three times we have eaten there the waitresses are very hard to find, unpredictable long times between courses, etc. It shouldn't be so hard to order another drink or bottle of wine."
Dined on 9/13/2013
The setting is movie set material,
the staff super nice and efficient, and the food ... prepared with precision and wonderfully delicious! A neighborhood GEM for sure."
Dined on 9/19/2013
Although I found the food to be
very good the service was terrible. When you consider there are only 10+ tables and two waitresses I found it to be disappointing and ultimately ruined the whole experience. I don't mind paying for quality ingredients but the service should also be up to a certain standard. Waiting 15 minutes for salt and pepper is unaccetable in such a small place."
Dined on 9/13/2013
LC is on a charming little corner
that is actually "local". Atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff knows the menu and how to stage dishes so that progression is logical and lovely on the palate. Food really is five star, menu and wine list just enough to give variety but not lead to confusion. We had just landed from East Coast four hours earlier and this was the perfect place to start our weekend. Glad I booked a week ago because even for a Thursday they had to turn away many walk ins."

Delicious, favorable food.
Terrific, warm service from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Bread is wonderful, as was the peach and basil jam. salmon was great, as was the roast beef sandwich. A lovely experience."
Dined on 9/4/2013
This was an unexpected delight. We
had read the reviews but you don't know until you have been yourself!! The food is fresh, seafood focussed- innovative, light and tasty. Service is attentive, knowledgable. A lovely space, airy and light , great to have so many windows. Well worth a re visit."
Dined on 8/31/2013
Wonderful balance of flavors. All
the dishes really let the flavor of the ingredients shine through. Sauces were delicate and complimented the components of the dish perfectly, but were more there in a support role. Several Tapas style plates let us all sample a bunch of different things. The dishes are very natural and not at all heavy or rich, and leave you very contented and satisfied. We started with a few oysters and the cheese plate finished the meal off perfectly. Fish was super fresh and cooked to perfection. Service was very friendly, helpful and attentive. Nice neighborhood feel in Victorian corner store front."

For upscale seafood, you're better
off going to a Japanese restaurant that specializes in dishes beyond sushi. For value for money, you're better off going to a Chinese restaurant like Koi Palace and getting the freshest, succulent lobster prepared simply. When they say "small plates" here, they mean it. Mind you, we don't begrudge fine Japanese restaurants like Hana (in Rohnert Park) serving us two slices of (delicious!) pork belly for $12, so the concern is not about the serving size itself, but rather the whole package you get for your money."

Much of the food ordered by our
party of 4 was very good, worth a return visit. However, our server came off as arrogant, detracting from the experience. When asked to explain two wines, she said one was made in the Provencal style and the other in another French style. She seemed perturbed when I said I didn't know what that meant. Her subsequent description didn't really fit the wines which we didn't like. She also failed to explain the restaurant's unique approach to cooking when asked why only cheese is offered for dessert, saying - also with attitude - that baking can't be done there. Also, this could be a quiet cozy spot perfect for dinner conversation but rather unpleasant music was playing far too loudly."
Dined on 8/11/2013
Need to work out some kinks here.
Inattentive and aloof wait staff. Small plates inspired but took too long to execute, especially in a 1/2 full restaurant. Need to expand non-alcoholic beverage choices beyond lemonade, ice tea, and tap water."
Dined on 8/7/2013
Our first dinner here ~ lunch is
superb. They could serve a dessert ( just one) to complete the meal. Wait person could have used just a little more training to make the evening special."
Dined on 7/26/2013
Love this little spot. It has
great food, in a relaxing comfortable atmosphere. Good service and you can actually talk and be heard! Can't wait to come back."
Dined on 7/13/2013
The food was excellent. We really
enjoyed the salmon collar and cured fish. I especially appreciate that the food is light and healthy. The wine was unique and went well with the meal. Service was very welcoming and attentive."

Get to Local's Corner! Inventive
and very tasty food in relaxed setting. Top notch meal is complimented by unusual, affordable and special selection of California wines. Nice focus on sharing plates which you will want to do anyway given how good everything tastes. Team is friendly and on the less intrusive side of standard service in SF so feel free to draw them out if you want help - they have good ideas."
Dined on 7/6/2013
Wonderful little storefront place,
limited but creative menu, service need work: We're told the dishes are to share, so we ordered 4 items, and three of them came within 10 minutes of each other. We had to ask for several items ordered long before two and three times. That said, everybody was nice about it, so we'll be back, but I hope this gets straightened out"
Dined on 6/30/2013
I love this place, but not
consitent. First visit on a Thursday, ordered the trout which was the best trout I have ever had. Substantial portion, perfectly prepared, with great flavors in the mix. Server was darling, staff looked professional, everyone so warm and attentive. 2 weeks later, Saturday night: A friend and I ordered 2 glasses of wine, shared 3 small plates plus the halibut. Food was good but not great. Portions were tiny. Different server with a cold attitude. Our initial set of small plates came out in good time, but main fish dish took forever to arrive; server made no effort to reassure us. The flavors were a let down. I left embarrased to have brought my friend here to spend that amount of money on an anticlimactic meal."

Fresh, inventive, friendly,
healthy and fun emanates from this kitchen with heart and a very, very sophisticated palate. Love - Love - Love the restaurant,"
Dined on 6/13/2013
expensive and not sure about some
of the dishes like a shaved carrot (really) space is small and cute but u end up taking home some of the kitchen odors in your cloths, three of us spent 200$ sorry guys cant buy into this type of restaurant"
Dined on 6/8/2013
Oysters and Champagne are always a
good start to a summer evening, but the light unusual dishes such as the crab artichoke soufflé were even better. They charge $3 for toasted homemade bread which is terrific and worth every cent."
Dined on 6/8/2013
Definitely there is a need for
more table space to place foods"
Dined on 6/2/2013
Charming restaurant atmosphere. It
is like you stepped onto a movie set. The Wild West has come to town. Very compact place and menu. Fresh local ingredients. The fish dishes were very well prepared. They don't offer dessert, but I hope that changes."
