We were given a gift certificate to Local Seasonal by our daughter. Our dining experience there was very positive from start to finish. However, I must add that the prices are really on the high side. This is a BYO restaurant which should help to bring down the amount of your check. Our check was $175 for two people, without tip or wine! In my opinion, that is high. Again, I will add, that the food and service were excellent.

The restaurant was practically empty, yet we were seated next to another table of loud patrons. We stayed for a little over an hour and another table was seated on our other side - while the restaurant remained empty. Tables are too close together. Food was unique, but not worth the price. My three little short ribs had more fat than meat. When asked by the waiter how everything was, I told him very fatty. He dissapeared quickly. Perhaps this was an off night. But not worth the premium.

This was our first visit to LSK, for a special occasion. I ordered the pork belly appetizer that was suggested on other reviews. It was something I never would have thought to try, but it was absolutely delicious!! For me it was so filling that I took most of my scallop entree home. Even as leftovers it was wonderful. We split a dessert of a chocolate butina with a heavenly marshmallow topping. The dishes were very well presented. While the prices were a bit on the high side, the quality was outstanding. The BYOB aspect helps keep the costs down too. The wait staff was very professional and the whole experience was lovely.

Both the Fall Salad and the Kale salad were excellent. The spaghetti appetizer with guancale and spices was terrific but if it was a half portion the main dishes was not enough to eat. The scallops and lamb special were great but the vegetarian dinner of cauliflower steak with veggies was priced at $26.00.... a cauliflower! The prices are very high for what they are and where you are ( a really crummy strip mall in suburbia ). One of the food highlights was the butternut squash focaccia that was served. In the whimsy department we had the $10.00 side dish of bacon popcorn. It was wonderful for the bacon lovers amongst us (me). Skipped dessert. Delish food ..pleasant help, nice surroundings but over priced. Will go back but not often.

Food was very good prices very high. Server did not place cork for our wine on table. Although enjoyed meal will not return as prices far exceed what we are willing to pay for weekly night out and the lack of liquor license and location goes against it for that special occasion.

This is the 2nd time I've been to Local and it was better than the first time. The raviolo appetizer is one of the best appetizers I ever had.. Pastas are superb too. My husband had a special of duck and venison, he enjoyed it very much. I had the Rib Eye, better than a high end steak house. It is a bit pricey, but you are definitely getting your money's worth. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

The quality and creativity of the food at this Ramsey, NJ restaurant is equal to that of many fine dining options in Manhattan. I have eaten here several times and the quality just keeps getting better. Even though this is a BYO restaurant they always make sure to have the proper glassware for your wine. If you have a bottle of Burgundy, you will get Burgundy glasses. This is just one of the examples of their great service.

I keep bringing new friends to try this place, and they all say it is fantastic. I also love that the menu changes often so it doesn't feel like the same old thing. It took one month to get a Saturday evening reservation-Totally worth the wait. Located in a tiny strip mall, LSK is a hidden gem. It is a small space that is decorated beautifully. The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. (The menu is always changing. It is a farm to table restaurant so they tend to serve what is "in season" at the time.) Every course was amazing! The taste, texture, aroma and presentation of each dish wowed us. The portion sizes were perfect-not too big and not too small. It was such a great experience. We are already planning our next trip back. I highly recommend LSK to anybody that enjoys really good food. It is a bit pricey - But worth every penny. The restaurant is BYOB.

  • Almost a Wow...

    Dined on 10/11/2014
Local Seasonal Kitchen is a relatively small place that maximizes it's available space by placing the tables very close together. It was almost too close for me. The service was fantastic. I wish I could say they were reactive to my every request, but quite frankly I never had to ask for anything. The staff was extremely attentive and simply took care of my every need before I had to ask. The food was very good, but this is where the "almost a wow" comes into play. I had the Rib-eye as an entree. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, but the side was a bit disappointing. The sauce that it was cooked with completely overpowered the flavors of the vegetables. It was good, but I wish I could taste the vegetables themselves.

For a smallish restaurant in a strip mall, the ambience is modern with very cool touches all done in nature inspired color. The food is all organic with veggies from Blooming Grove Farm. The chef really knows how to put it all together with flavor, texture and eye appeal. I can't rave enough about the tuna tartare which was perfect. I also had homemade pappardelle with wild mushrooms and Parmesan. Delicious!

Frankly we were disappointed. Tables for two are uncomfortably spaced to close so there is no such thing as an even remotely private conversation, in fact no real conversation at all due to the proximity of the next table. The food was uninspired and given the billing as a farm to table experience we would have expected some variety compared to our previous visits earlier in the summer. We decided on the 7 course tasting menu to explore some of the other options and were frankly unimpressed. The real topper was the fact that we were there for over 3 1/2 hours!! Not sure what was going on but we saw the whole dining room turn over twice. I am not rushing to go back.

I highly recommend Local Seasonal Kitchen. The food is out of this world. You can count on being greeted at the door with a smiling face and quickly seated at your table. The menu is terrific and there are almost always specials that are fantastic. I always recommend the tasting menu if it is offered. The chef will prepare some true treats. The pork chop is ridiculously good! The scallops are the best I've ever put in my mouth. Just remember to bring your own wine or other alcoholic beverages. Definitely save room for dessert and you will not be disappointed. From top to bottom Local is one of the best restaurants I've dined in (I dine out nearly 200 nights a year).

I loved the decor of the restaurant. The unique dishes all sounded so wonderful it was difficult to choose one dinner. The waiter had informed us of a 5 course "taste testing" which we would have loved to try, but were not able to spend the time to really take part in the entire experience. We did each choose a different dish we could "taste" the variety of flavors, seasonings and preparation distinctive to each plate. The food was amazing! The scallops were melt in your mouth delicious, the organic chicken was incredibly moist and tender, the cauliflower steak was a surprising presentation and just as delicious. I had a hard time deciding what was my favorite of the night I cannot wait to return and try the 5 course tasting!!

Food was amazing! Everything was so fresh and such a unique combination of items. The porkbelly appetizer was better than any I have ever tasted! Each course was better than the previous and we tried them all! It is a small place so highly recommend making a reservation as every table in the place was booked during our visit on a Friday night. It is a byob so that helps a little, but it is a bit on the expensive side. Service was excellent all night even in a packed restaurant!
