A word from Local Seasonal Kitchen
Located less than a half a mile away from Steven’s grandfather’s farm estate where his culinary journey began over 25 years ago, Local - Seasonal Kitchen offers an intimate New York style dining experience showcasing Chef Santoro’s award winning contemporary American cuisine and creative use of seasonal, farm fresh ingredients, local markets and long time trusted purveyors.

We will take great pride in serving sustainably grown and harvested produce, meats and wild seafood at Local. We aspire to leave our planet better for future generations and because food simply tastes better when its ingredients are cared for by hand in a responsible way.

Our menu changes daily (sometimes at the very last moment) depending on availability of ingredients so please note that menu items are subject to change.

  • "Amazzzzing! Can't be beat!!! The menu is like no other and I dream about their ravioli appetizer! The service is so professional yet so welcoming! My favorite restaurant in Bergen County!!"

  • "Outstanding menu, service and food. All way above most "A" restaurants we've been to run by top chef's in the NY/NJ area. The specials, appetizers and entrees, were terrific as we selected those items for our dinner. While i understand that the restaurant isn't that big and the items on the menu were very creative, they are VERY pricey. In addition, they don't offer the prices of the specials unless you ask. Special appetizers were $25 for a relatively small dish. Tea was $6. However, we will definitely go back. Just not as often."

  • "Best restaurant in Bergen County. ll the dishes are done with care and all fresh ingredients are used."

  • "This is a great, busy restaurant but they need to work on the acoustics--WAY too loud!"

  • "The food at Local Seasonal Kitchen is excellent. The menu is interesting and varied. But this restaurant is very pricey and the portions are just a little too small. I had duck breast the other night and I thought it was very tasty and there was plenty of duck breast on my plate. But it was served with Brussel Sprouts and there were only 5 tiny ones hiding under the duck. Come on! I go to Local Seasonal Kitchen because I want a dining experience with fresh ingredients. You don't need to ration the vegetables. I was also disappointed in the desert selections. There was no deserts made with fresh fruit and at least half the possibilities had coffee flavoring of one kind or another. I dislike the taste of coffee so this was no go for me."

  • "Interesting use of seasonal ingredients. One of the best soft shell crab dishes. Appetizer portions can easily serve as an entrée."

  • "Celebrated wife's birthday- excellent all around- ambiance, food, sevice noise level all just simply great"

  • "Everything I ordered at Local Seasonal Kitchen was incredible! The Raviolo appetizer was incredibly delicious. My salmon special was wonderful, and the green beans were perfect. And the roasted seasonal vegetables - excellent! The dessert I ordered a Honey Pine Nut Tart; I have to say that it was SOOOO incredibly delicious that I was still dreaming about it the next day! I will definitely be going back to try other things on the menu. They even serve gluten-free bread if you need it! If you go, it's good to know that it is in a strip mall, and the only word you can see on the sign from the street is "Local," so keep your eyes open for it. Just don't miss going for an exquisite meal!! (It's not inexpensive, though, and it is BYOB.)"

  • "Never disappoints. 5th time here. Been outstanding each time"

  • "The soft shell crab appetizer special that night was really quite tasteless and extraordinarily expensive at $24 for such a tiny portion. The other dishes we had, also expensive, were fine. We were not impressed."

  • "We truly enjoyed our meal! The clams and mussels were served with a wonderful broth and the soft shell crab was perfect! Our entrees did not disappoint and the flour less chocolate dessert was a great ending! Service was attentive- tables are large- would not mind being a bit closer to my date!"

  • "We've been to Local Seasonal Kitchen 3 times and all 3 times it was perfect. This time, I took my wife for our 15th anniversary. When I made the reservation online, I added a note mentioning this. When we arrived, they took us to the "anniversary" table, a quiet little table in the corner. The food, service and ambience were all exactly as we had hoped, as usual. For us it's not cheap, so it's a special occasion restaurant, but oh so special. Definitely coming back for our next big event."

  • "Food is Good. It's a bit pricey! I'm not to thrilled with the location. It was our second time there we had a blast the first time it was just okay this last time. Don't know if would go back right away. Thank you"

  • "From the day this restaurant opened, it has been an exceptional place to eat. We have never had a bad meal or a bad time! We will return again, and again, and again, etc."

  • "The food and service is excellent, but doesn't match the ambiance. Even farm tables would look better the fabrics and decor look like a nice diner. I like the wood piece at hostess station though. The food was great. Had the scallops and tey were in a pumpkin risotto- def a fall dish- not summer. Great flavor but heavy for summertime. My husband enjoyed the shortrib rigatoni- again seems like a fall/winter item. (Only saying this because it's seasonal menus)... Overall we would go back"

  • "Hands down best food I have eaten in jersey! Very creative and each course progressed with perfection. From apps to dessert was amazed! Truly fit for foodies. Kitchen staff deserves to be put in the spot light."

  • "This is locally a talked about and hot ticket. It's a BYOB which is common in Bergen county. However, it is limited to wine and beer. The menu is inventive and the food is well prepared. The service was good. When we asked for a table other than the one at which we had been seated , we were quickly accommodated."

  • "When you step foot thru the front door it feels like you are stepping thru the closet into narnia- the food journey begins the moment your server begins to describe the specials until you take your last creatively presented bite- luv this place!!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "Excellent flavors in all the dishes. Wonderful presentation of the meals. Not inexpensive, that's for sure; but I guess it costs to utilize local suppliers. But if the growers are local, the restaurant shouldn't be paying a lot to get the food items to the restaurant. That would be the only down side of this great restaurant. Even with bringing our own wine, it was a very expensive meal. It would keep us from going back on a regular basis; we would save it only for special occasions."

  • "There are tons of options in the area that serve high-quality ingredients at lower prices. Cafe Panache (in the same town) and Cafe Matisse, 10 miles south provide comparable quality. And $5 for a cup of coffee just adds to the feeling."

  • "This was our third time at Local and tried the tasting menu at our servers suggestion. Glad we listen to her because it was great. Every dish was delicious and portioned enough to enjoy each course plus desert. The chef has to be very passionate about what he puts on a plate. Highly recommend this Restaurant. Great food, great staff."

  • "We went for the full tasting menu and were not disappointed. There were so many wonderful things to try on the menu. All dishes came out of the kitchen perfectly prepared and delicious. "

  • "We returned to LSK for a 3rd visit – and brought friends. Again, excellent. The menu changes and everything has been delicious. They are organized, prompt, and do everything with a smile. Complaints are simple and easy to combat: The food sometimes takes a while to come out. So either have a lot of wine or tell them that you don’t want to wait 2 hours to get your main. They are in a strip mall. Look beyond the chances that the place is good – it’s awesome. They pushed us a little to do a tasting menu – we’re going to do that next time. I really love the tables – they’re huge – and the set-up inside is very well done. "

  • "Delicious but very expensive for a restaurant in a strip mall."

  • "This is the fifth time in the past year we have dined at Local Seasonal Kitchen and it continues to delight. The ingredients are always fresh and the sauces are the perfect touch (save some bread for dipping!). We have noticed their dishes getting smaller so the prices may seem a bit high for what you are getting but overall, it is worth it. The service is excellent and very professional. "

  • "We went with 6 people, 2 of whom are rather picky eaters, everyone found something that the thoroughly enjoyed. THe ribeye, short ribs and Halibut were extraordinary. Typcially we do not order desserts, but had to indulge in the banana foster and bourbon gelato!! "

  • "The food is quite good but very very pricey. Polished service - a well trained staff. Setting/ambiance is not great and very noisy. Tables of more than 4 might not have a comfortable time conversing. A minor issue for us is the parking lot which is often quite crowded and disjointed."

  • "We had a nice dinner with friends, but I've had better. Food presentation was very nice, but a few hits and misses on taste. Service was poor. Had to ask our waiter several times to bring us things. He also seemed to be mocking some of the dishes when we inquired about them. Overall. I'd have to say you can find comparable food elsewhere for less money. I won't be going back at those prices. My guess is there won't be one month waits to get a table for much longer."

  • "A wonderful dining experience. Down to earth staff, beautiful, rustic atmosphere and delicious good! We order the pickled nibbles, beet salad, bisque soup special, mahi mahi and duck. Everything was superb. The sweet potato fritters that accompany the duck are to die for! We'll be back!"

  • "We went for our anniversary and Local Seasonal really delivered! Everything was wonderful from start to finish; the service was equally as good! Looking forward to our next visit."

  • "Our party of 4 were all very pleased with our meals. The scallops and the short ribs were to die for. I would highly recommend."
    Dined on 5/21/2014
  • ""Local" was a splendid experience all around. I started with the pork belly and had the scallops entrée and my husband started with the raviolo and had the bronzino. Food was excellent and nicely presented. We finished with the cookie platter which was scrumptious. Service was good. However, the noise level made it difficult to hear and have conversation. We will be returning to Local again soon."
    Dined on 5/15/2014
  • "I was not impressed with this restaurant. I had read rave reviews but I have no rave reviews to give. Perhaps the people who dine here have never been to NYC? This place would die a fast death in the City. Fresh food was drowned in sauces. Even the gelato was not up to par. The bacon popcorn was the best thing on the menu."
    Dined on 5/17/2014
  • "We were celebrating a birthday and Local Seasonal certainly made it feel like a special occasion with wonderful food and service. Also enjoyed bringing my own wine to complete the experience."
    Dined on 5/15/2014
  • "The first time we went to Local we thought it was just okay. This time we went because we heard again how good it was. We thought even less of the restaurant this week. The waiter was inexperienced and was unsure of what each dish was. The service was slow. The food was okay, some dishes better than others. The chocolate desert was really good, but I have no plans of returning! "

  • "I joked with my waiter the other evening that I only come for the specials, but experience tells me that it's true. I've never eaten from the regular menu - which looks wonderful - because the specials always live up to their name. This particular evening I enjoyed roasted burrata with butternut squash purée and white asparagus, and for dinner, a fresh fettuccine with sea scallops, in a wonderfully light sauce made with roasted cherry tomatoes and white wine, with wilted baby arugula on top. I seldom eat dessert, but that's not true at Local. On this evening I enjoyed a strawberry panna cotta, served with lime foam, rhubarb, black pepper shortbread (!) and the freshest gelato; it was a superb ending to a great meal."

  • "Food was absolutely delicious. Do not miss the fresh spaghetti dish with sausage and chile peppers. Awesome food combined with BYO makes this restaurant a new local favorite. The only negative is that you will want to try everything but the tasting menu is only available if every member of your party participates.Service great. Food great. We will definitelybe going back again."
