Love Local - the food is exquisite - great taste, combination of flavours and presentation. The chef has so many subtle, special touches the enhance the food. The scenery is always a bonus to an enjoyable meal with great company. We have celebrated several birthdays and anniversaries at Local making the 20 minute drive from West Kelowna.

Music a bit too loud, guests with hearing aids.. Wine glass with lipstick marks, which was noticed after wine was poured. When brought to the servers attention, she remarked that it missed being polished. She took the glass away, we are not sure if she just polished the glass with the wine in it or poured the wine into a different glass. Which ever it didn't seem right. Chef's special came with hash browns which were Jo Jo potatoes which were overly salted, a ridiculous amount of food coloring in the Bearnaise sauce, bacon again very salty. The fish taco was very little fish and a lot of oily batter. I have been coming here quite regularly and was very disappointed especially as I brought out of town guests.

Tasked with impressing a VIP client, we struggled to find a dining room in Penticton that would meet his expectations. Having previously experienced the cuisine and stunning lake view at 'Local Lounge & Grill' in Summerland, I called owner Christa-Lee Bond and ask if she could help. Within minutes I received a very enthusiastic email assuring me that she would collaborate with Chef Lee Humphries to 'design' a custom menu for our small group of four. Upon arriving we were greeted by our smiling server Tammy and her cheerful personality set the tone for what would be one of our most memorable dining experiences - bar none! Sincere thanks to all - and especially Christa-Lee and Chef for making us look good!

We have eaten at Local Lounge over 10 times, as we live locally and try to support local business when we can. However, the food and service here is very inconsistent. We have experienced great service and wonderful food, but only on occasion. Other times we experienced being completely ignored after delivery of our meal, including having to walk to the bar to get our bill after empty plates and empty drinks were on our table for 45 minutes. And this was on a slow night. During our most recent experience 3/4 people from our table got delivered Luke warm food while 1 person didn't receive his steak until we all finished our meals (the waitress' error - one of many). We will try again one day in hopes of a good experience again.

Great service, view, value and food. The desserts are awesome especially the sticky toffee. Bugs me that they ask you which sauce you want without saying that you don't need to have sauce and that it is extra. Bugs me that you have to pay extra for veggies and I thought 8$ was steep.

My 2 daughters and I biked from Kelowna to Summerland with my wife and other daughter driving down to meet us for dinner and transport us home. What a treat to end with after a tough but beautiful bike ride. Always reliable great food with an imaginary menu, family-friendly and a gorgeous setting. Staff are always excellent. Service is very timely. It was starting to cool down so the bus boy offered to turn the outside heaters on which was exactly what we needed at the time.

Although our reserved table was not available when we arrived (the joint was packed), we were able to get a table in the lounge for a drink. Service was a bit slow but the staff were very friendly & knowledgable. The wine list is awesome, which features local BC wines within 100 Km of the restaurant. Cool concept! The hostess escorted us to our table when it was ready. She and our waitress went out of their way to ensure we had a special evening! Hubby had the flat iron steak and I had the grilled halibut, which was the special. Steak and fish were cooked beautifully. We both chose the bernaise sauce, which was amazing! Our waitress recommended the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Wow! Overall, lovely evening. We'll be back!

I went to Local for my anniversary dinner with my wife. We had a fantastic meal and the service was excellent. I booked in advance using open table and left a message saying it was a special occasion. They greeted us and wished up a happy anniversary. We also got a great table with an amazing view. The dinner was excellent. I had the Double stacked gourmet burger and my wife had the catch of the day.(Halibut) We also got a free dessert for being a special occasion. The Cob salad to start was also very unique and tasted great. I would definitely go again and I recommend to go check it out.

Waitress was excellent and most dishes were great. My frittata was overcooked. Service was slow. I think the bartender must have been overwhelmed although it wasn't that busy. Took almost fifteen minutes just to get our drinks and then another five before our orders were taken. Second round of drinks wasn't any better but the view made the wait worthwhile.

Another stunning spot in the Okanagan, possibly one of the best patios. Nice view of the lake, very relaxing feeling. Service was very good, smiles on faces all around, service was attentive but not pushy, well orchestrated "group" clearing & serving. A bit more knowledge of the product would push it to 5 stars. Food was very differently presented, some excitingly so, some just missed altogether. 12 inch white plate with 2 inches of scallops around outside looked like something from a cooking school gone wrong. Missed seasoning on scallops & fish in tacos. exciting colors and (could have been) interesting flavors missed without the seasoning. Plate the steak came on was just stupid. Not functional at all. Will be back for drinks, not food.

My husband and I, along with our guest were very disappointed in our dining experience. We would have preferred if the chef created complete entrees with sauces and accompaniments that enhanced the protein rather than require the diner to choose from the same generic sauces and vegetables that were offered with both red meat and seafood alike. My husband's prawn entree was far more suited to be an appetizer, and left him feeling still hungry at the end of the meal. This was definitely not the chef inspired cuisine we had hoped for. We live in Summerland and want to support local business, however, we are not inclined to return to Local anytime soon.

The patio at the Local in (lower) Summerland is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful Okanagan summer afternoon! The food menu and wine list have just enough variety...better preparation of fewer items is always a good sign and our optimism was not misplaced! The daily special, a tasty flatbread, and a glass of sparkling rose was the perfect light lunch, made even more pleasant by the attentive, friendly service. We look forward to a return visit!

We chose Local Lounge and Grill based on it's location and awesome view from the restaurant. From the reviews we figured the food would be okay too. The view turned out to be stunning, making for a peaceful dining experience. However the good was so much better then anticipated! We had a starter, mains, and dessert and each course wowed us with it's deliciousness and well thought out taste combos! The wine list was also wonderful as it featured many of the wineries in the Okanagan area and listed how far they were from the restaurant. Everything about out dining experience made it a memorable time! Can't wait to visit Summerland again and eat at this local gem!

I live in the area so I have been to the local many times. The but! means you will need deep pockets to dine at the Local. You would think that when you order a nice steak or other meat choice for $25 to $30 you would get something with it. Not the case unless you get the ribs. you will have to pay another $8 for the trio of the day to finish the plate. Well you say I'll just have a nice big Caesar salad for $13. Ok if it was actually big like it should be for that price it might be ok, but it is only the size of a average soup bowl. Definitely not a share size. As for the $16 shrimp order don't bother with that, all you get is five medium shrimp and half of a roasted tomato that leaves you looking at your plate in disbelief. Oh Well.

I was very pleased to learn that Local had reopened for lunch. Three of us had an excellent meal on Friday June 11th, and once again we were extremely pleased with our fare. I enjoyed the lamb rigatoni, although the big slab of bread ("rustic garlic baguette") on the side seemed like carb overload. My friends were both complementary about their prawn and goat cheese frittata and the ground chuck steak burger. The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive. The translucent cover over the pergola has done a lot to cut out the excessive heat on the patio. This is a beautiful setting and we will be back!

Our first visit to the Okanagan area so we asked our waiter to recommend wines to go with our meal and he did an excellent job. We both started with their signature soup which was fabulous. We each had a different 3 oz. glass of white wine to pair with the soup and it was fun to compare the matchings. I had the Wellington short ribs, billed as a starter, but substantial enough for a main. Very good and tasty with a lovely 3 oz. glass of red to compliment. My husband had the catch of the day, grilled salmon, with three sides plus a different white wine. He found the salmon overcooked but still tasty and cleaned up on the side dishes. The restaurant was full at 7:00 so make a reservation.

Situated seperate but beside the Summerland Waterfront Resort, this gem of a restaurant should be packed every night. We were surprised that it wasn't. Early season..yes.........but with the crowds that mediocre chain restaurants get,it always surprises me how so many people stay with the known rather than try the unknown and be wonderfully surprised. We went two nights in a row and were not disappointed in anything. The chef has imagination(perfectly seared scallops on thin meatlof medallions) and a brave hand in seasonings(best burger sliders any of us had ever had)Service matched the food............wonderful......friendly,thoughtful and efficient.

Interesting takes on comfort foods - sophisticated AND fun! The cherry-glazed ribs were delicious and the pairing with sweet potato wedges and colorful coleslaw sublime - gave refreshing new meaning to "finer-licking good"! Service friendly and informative - view of the lake can't be beat. Love local foods and local wines against the backdrop of Okanagan Lake!
