Our server was excellent- which to me means that he/she is knowledgeable about the food and its preparation, can make good recommendations and is attentive without being intrusive.
Our meals were visually pleasing - we both opted for the pork chop which was cooked according to our order. However, even though it was a large chop, I'm still not convinced it was worthy of a $24 price. We both ordered asparagus and it was perfectly cooked. My brother said the Mac 'n cheese was good but not great. I ordered the risotto and I wod have liked just a little more of it to accompany the pork.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the long driveWe drove over from Madison, to take our son to dinner in honor of his graduation from JMU. The food was amazing -- our steaks were delicious, and cooked to perfection. Our server was prompt and courteous, and the Dining Room was very comfortable and quiet. Our entrees were prepared to perfection. Special preparation to accommodate dietary restrictions or requests was offered. Our waitress was very informative about the menu and helped with pairings and suggested excellent combinations. We have just returned from a vacation in Scottsdale, Arizona and agree that this meal surpassed even our favorite vacation restaurants. The wine was wonderful and the Margarita was crisp, clear, and delicious. We found the first time the food this world. the second time however (with the 14 people) we found the food was really good but not as great as the first time. We think it may have been the number of people we had. We were proven wrong. Greeted promptly, seated and waiter showed up right after we got situated, since it was winter the whole coat, scarves, gloves etc. He explained the restaurant philosophy , locally grown and sustainable. We ordered the filet and it was excellent. Tender juicy and cooked the way we ordered it. Wife and daughter had medium, I went for medium rare and each steak done properly.
