  • "My 62nd birthday was very special at the Lobster Shop. Great food, service, and fantastic view."

  • "Was looking for something near the Tacoma dome and found this gem."

  • "I took my girlfriend here right before sunset and it was completely perfect. The staff and food was perfect. I could've not asked for a better experience."

  • "We've eaten at this establishment on multiple occasions; at dinner, brunch, at the bar prior to the dinner hour and when just popping in. The food is outstanding and the customer service beyond reproach. Being on Ruston Way, the scenery is spectacular, especially when Rainier is out and the sun is setting. The menu is extensive, the wine list comparable to many excellent establishments in the area and the service impeccable. We love this restaurant!"

  • "Food was ok, it came out slightly cool like it had been sitting for a while. 10 pm and the basically started kicking us out."

  • "I had two disabled members in my party of 5 and it was also a birthday celebration. The staff could not have been more helpful. Making sure the table was close to the front, arranging for the chair without arms for another. Taking the folding wheelchair away, putting the large gifts away safe. The food was also super on a crowded day with the dishes hot and fresh - replenished quickly - and a spread enough for everyone's taste. Definitely a place to return to."

  • "Went for the lobster _was not good at all.Meals came out cold and under cooked.we have had good meals here before so was disappointing."

  • "We were a group of four and were seated at a table for eight.....instead of an intimate family dinner it was more of a bar scene...when made aware of the issue staff worked to move us to a more suitable table however drinks etc. had arrived and our party did not want to move. The food itself was good however my dish was cold. When noted it was removed from my bill. Would i go back no."

  • "I always enjoy the Lobster Shop. Always a great environment and great service. Food is consistently a great presentation and the flavor never disappoints. I continue to bring new friends and they are always impressed. Thank you for the convenience of Open Table to make reservations so easy!!"

  • "I booked this early dinner as time with a friend. We elected to do appetizers and drinks in lieu of a heavy dinner, this didn't seem to go over well with our waiter, he was like... OH. The appetizers, calamari, manila clams and the crab dip were EXCELLENT. My drink tasted like a perfume bottle, I finished it regardless and asked the waiter for a recommendation on the next drink. He suggested a grapefruit mojito, since I am a fan of mojitos, I agreed. This one tasted like cough syrup, 7/8 of the drink was unconsumed and the waiter never asked why I didn't drink it. So I expect this from a bar but not from this type of restaurant. Not impressed."

  • "We were a table of2 couples. Our drinks & food were great, no complaints there. My fiancé & I had green curry mussels, she had scallops & I, tuna duo. Her drink, Ruby Red Mojito was OK. I had martinis w/extra olives, outstanding! Server seemed new, not very attentive. He brought clams instead of mussels at 1st, although quickly resolved. The 2 men at the table, my friend & I, are blind. Server did not let us know where things were, e.g., drinks, entrée, etc. Server brought my friend a white Russian instead of the black Russian he ordered. Resolved quickly It was very busy but I feel that the server could have been more attentive. My friend & both have hearing loss and it was difficult to communicate because it was very noisy."

  • "Food is always very good but wasn't HOT this time. Our reservation was for 6 ppl at 6:30!! We were finally seated at 7:00! I don't think they have too many tables for larger parties or there was a lot of large parties that night. I also don't like seeing flying ice cubes when servers are pouring water and it's dripping everywhere on the floor."

  • "Visited the Lobster Shop for an early Saturday dinner. Our friends had never been there before, and we wanted the night to be special. We had the best table in the restaurant, near the middle, right next to the window. The sun was shining and it was a clear day across the bay. The food was great and our server wad nice too. We definitely recommend this restaurant to others. Noise level was adequate."

  • "This is one of those places we go when it's a special occasion. We know it's going to be expensive but we don't care. It was everything we anticipated. The food was excellent. The shrimp with the sampler appetizer was probably the best we have ever eaten."

  • "The Lobster Shop is one of my favorites. The food is properly prepared and served by attentive staff in a tranquil environment with a fantastic view. And you get all of this a fair price. Continues to be on my favorite list."

  • "My children (13 & 11) and I tried the Sunday brunch. We all agree that it was excellent. There was a good variety of foods that were all fresh and delicious. We will definitely be returning."

  • "My wife ordered King Salmon. It was overcooked and flavorless. My daughter's crab cakes were generous portions but didn't have much flavor as well. The diver scallops were cooked perfectly and tasty. Entree were served with boring steamed broccoli and a rice pilaf. Overall we felt like we were eating a restaurant stuck in the 1970's world of dining. Place was crowded so maybe ordered the wrong dishes, but definitely one of the least enjoyable seafood meals."

  • "Friends who haven't seen each other in over 25 years, had a great table with a lovely view until the sun went down. Very comfortable for talking. Excellent drinks and no hurry out the door. Would be very happy to relive this event."

  • "My wife had the prawns and I had the salmon twilight dinners. The food at Lobster Shop is always well prepared and tasty. The regular menu is a little pricey except for special occasions for us. We enjoy the view and don't ever feel rushed."

  • "The view was nice and the rib eye was good. They actually managed to keep it rare like I asked and the waitress waited for me to cut into my steak to make sure it was cooked to my liking."

  • "We selected the Lobster Shop for my husband's birthday celebration. I made a reservation through Open Table & we arrived in Tacoma quite a bit earlier then we expected so I changed our reservation time to an earlier available time slot. We arrived & were seated promptly. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, salads, our main entrees & dessert. The drinks were wonderful, solid pours, full & flavorful. We selected calamari for our appetizer & it was so tender you could cut it with a fork. The pear salads were one of our favorites. They are a must try. We each had a different entree & everyone was very pleased with the quality & flavor of their meals. Absolutely delicious. The desserts were wonderful & service was excellent."

  • "We have dined at The Lobster Shop many times. The last few times the service wasnt what it use to be....top notch. This past Sunday night the restaurant was half empty and and our service was poor. After we finished eating our empty dirty dishes sat at our table for 15 to 20 minutes. In fact, we stacked them at the end of the table."

  • "We took out of state guests to their Sunday buffet and everyone loved it. Lovely view on the water. Extensive buffet menu and everything was tasty."

  • "I was there with three other friends. The staff was very friendly from the front desk to the wait staff. The food was excellent as usual. Great place to for a very nice dining experience."

  • "The restaurant is good for couples or families, but lacks the romantic ambiance. The food is good and tasteful and the service was pleasant and attentive. Though we had a reservation, we had to wait a short while or our table to be ready, but not a big deal. We ordered the scallop salad with a lobster side, and the blackened and sesame Ahi tuna from the Che'f menu along with calamari starter. The calamari, scallop salad and lobster were good, the sesame crusted tuna piece was ok, but the blackened tuna was very spicy (Cajun) to my taste. It overpowered the flavor of the tuna. The view from the window side tables is beautiful especially on a clear night (it was raining when we visited)."

  • "I'm sad to say that our most recent experience with the Lobster Shop Brunch was less than enjoyable. Four of us were seated at noon and headed to the buffet line, and much to our disappointment, many of the trays were empty. Obviously the more popular of the items, and the items that we like to start with, such as the corned beef hash, bacon, scalloped potatos and french toast, were all gone. We stood there, waiting patiently for one of the young bus boys to bring out new, full pans, after 10 Minutes we decided on other items and missed out on the breakfast items we came for. Hoping this is not a trend. Sorry Lobster Shop, it's a long drive all the way from South Hill to be disappointed."

  • "I can not recommend the twilight dinner enough !!! You get an amazing starter (my rec the lobster bisque), then a delicious entree, followed by a decedent dessert (get the creme brulee). You get all this for $20 WOW. To make it even more special I would rec the Chocolate Kiss martini---vanilla vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, and Baileys served straight up with a sugar rim and chocolate shavings......I'm drooling as I write this. If all this was not enough you get a beautiful waterfront view, romantic lighting, and some of the best service around. Don't wait, make your reservations now :)"

  • "Overall the dining experience was very nice, the food was excellent, the service was very good, but we were seated next to two large groups, and a third one after one of the original groups left, and it detracted a little from the over all experience, but overall very nice."

  • "We came as a small group and had happy hour and drinks in the bar before dinner. I was a little surprised at the per glass selection if wine, but it did have one I enjoyed. The service was amazing, food equal. The views from every table spectacular. Dinner options were great, from lobster-steak-pasta with roasted veggies. Caeser salad was huge and heard the bisque superb. The prices were surprisingly much Lower than I assumed they would be! This is my new favorite for the waterfront.!"

  • "I have gone to the Lobster Shop off and on for a number of years, and I have to say that this experience was WAY below the standards I expected. Our food was definitely mediocre is one case and not good in the others. I will think again before returning."

  • "The Lobster Shop has been a staple of fine dining in Tacoma for almost 40 years. Like so many Yuppies, it's showing it's age and needs desperate updating. For example, when's the last time you heard Dr. Hook and Oliva Newton John on the Muzak? The finish on the bathroom doors are worn, the seats are worn, the tables are worn. The only thing they seem to keep up to date are the prices. As far as the food is concerned, this was the second time visiting. Ordered Lobster both times. Both times it was undercooked. The first time I had sent it back, but when it was returned it was fried to a crisp. So this time just ate the lobster sushi. How can a establishment not be able to cook their signature dish correctly and consistently??"

  • "Always a dependable dinner spot. Food is always very good,.as is service. The the view, no matter what weather this is outside, the meal is always delicious. A place to recommend to family and friends alike. A place to come back too."

  • "We were there to celebrate my husband's birthday and Valentine's Day, which happen to be on the same day. In order to avoid the larger crowds, we made reservations for the 15th of February. The restaurant was still very busy, but did a nice job of making us comfortable and welcome. Our service had notable gaps, which may be attributed to the busy holiday weekend. The wait staff was VERY attentive to keeping our table cleared of excess dishes and cutlery. My husband was served a birthday ice cream sundae complete with a lit candle. Thank you, Lobster Shop for helping to make our dining experience memorable."

  • "Food was great but the server was below par. We waited an extremely long time before we were even asked for our drink order. Then he only brought half of it. We had to "remind" him that he had failed to bring us everything that we ordered. He was never around to ask for refills, etc. At the end when we paid the bill he brought the check back but it didn't contain the credit card receipt for me to sign. We then had to wait a lengthy time for him to re-appear to ask him about it. It then took him a long time to try to fix the issue. If we had a different server this would have been a wonderful dining experience."
