Lobby on YorkBest in the city!!The service was great. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable. My wife and I were very impressed with the service and will be returning every time we get a chance to go out. We have already recommended your restaurant to many couples. We had the crab cakes, rack of lamb and the portabello rib steak. This is what we almost always order when going out. We have been to all the nice steak places in the city, and nothing compares. Service and food beyond any others in Winnipeg.

We had the beet salad to start, which was light and delightful. We then had the Tuna Tartare which was the best appetizer my partner nad I had ever tasted. We then ordered the 10 ounce Peppercorn New York Striploin with Lobster and with Prawns. We asked that the Brocollini appetizer come with our meal. Everything was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the Chocolate torte with caramel gelato. The waitress was on par and the bartender made our drinks perfectly. The price of our wine at $15.00 a glass was slightly high, but we were very aware of the prices of the beverages. We went on a Monday night and loved everything so much we decided to return on our own on Friday. We were not disappointed! The food is over the top amazing - best food we've ever eaten at a restaurant. Karl served us both nights and really knows his stuff - you can trust his recommendations. Favorite dish is between the mac & cheese and the Korean BBQ short ribs. Unlikely that I'll be in Winnipeg again in the near future, but the Lobby on York is a reason to go!!! The food is extraordinary and I can definitely say the same for everyone that works there. Also the filet mignon is to die for, I order it every year and its always made to perfection. The modern decor makes it a standout in the city. Its great menu is only complimented by the absolutely terrific food. We had Korean BBQ ribs to start, the flavor is unmatchable. We chose Lobby on York for the simple reason that I was able to get reservation within two days of our diner date. While I was getting ready for our evening, my wife began reading from the online menu and we were reluctant about the costs. We only do this now and then and figured oh well. The food was excellent to say the least. Had to be one of my top steak diners in Winnipeg so far. The server was quite entertaining and engaging. That being said, a half bottle of wine, two entrees, soup and an appetizer came to almost $160 with tip. Nice atmosphere, but quite noisy when all tables are seated. Highlights:
1. Bone-in Rib Steak - cooked rare as requested, large cut, flavorful, tender. Steak lovers will not be disappointed.
2. Lingcod - was cooked al dente but remained moist; vinaigrette really gave it a nice kick but wasn't overpowering.
3. Yam Fries - light crisp on the outside and velvety smooth inside.
Service was attentive and helpful. All around great experience. The menu is perfectly sized with various options for both starter and main, however the pulled Duck Quesadilla for a starter is amazing and would recommend you try it. And with different choices for main such as Steak or Fish dishes we chose Steak, which was a great choice both the Fillet Mignon and New York strip were perfectly cooked. Complements to the Chef and our server Karl who was both attentive with service and detail but knowledgeable about the menu. The service was great as always. We started with some appetizers; Pulled Duck Quesadilla and The Crab Cakes, which are two of my favourites. The mango chutney for the crab cakes is divine.
For dinner we all had different things. I had my usual signature steak the Fillet Mignon, while my dad had the New York Strip. My mother had the Pickerel. Everyone devoured their meals and my parents were raving about their first experience at the restaurant that is a little hard to find for people not in the know. I thought we waiting maybe a couple minutes too long for drinks but it was a Friday night and the lounge was full. The drinks were made perfectly. The food came at the perfect times, waiting time wasn't too long for it. And when the food did arrive it was amazing. The half rack of lamb with the mint tamirand sauce is probably the best lamb I've ever tasted. The vegetables were cooked to perfection. The dessert, was divine! I definitely think people should take a night off and go to this restaurant.
