LJ's & The Kat LoungeNice experienceWent on Friday night around 7:00. I would recommend reservations as they were pretty full. We were seated right away. Sofa type seating is a little odd and my wife and I had to change places because I sank down so far in it. Service is top notch. Bread, rolls and butter are great. We had the duck egg rolls and they were very good. We also tried the ox tail soup and is was only ok. The ceasar salad is very well done, mild and tasty. My wife had the chicken and it was awesome. Great Food!We wanted to go someplace for our 10th wedding anniversary. Not being from the area, I made reservations here based on the reviews online and LJ's and The Kat Lounge DID NOT disappoint! Everything was perfect! The hostess made us feel right at home and wished us a happy anniversary as did our waiter! They even went as far as to print our anniversary on the top of our menu! Our food was spectacular as was the wine pairing with my meal! The pricing was spectacular as I have eaten at worse places for much more!
Overall I can't say enough about LJ's and The Kat Lounge! I will definitely be returning when I am in the area again! This evening, after considering many of the Asian and North African-influenced dishes, I settled on an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and porter braised pork belly with a lovely mashed cauliflower side. At LJ's, you can go in lukewarm on a dish, order it with confidence, and trust that the experience will surprise you and, perhaps, enrich you. Take your meat and potatoes friends, order a side of garlic potatoes and a hanger steak for them, and then get crazy. And if your friends want a "balsamic" with the house salad, offer to eat theirs as it comes--lemony, parsley-enriched, velvety. It's a great place, but usually once a year makes it a special trip for us. The food is always good and I like to see the chefs use of a seasonal menu. LJ's is one place everyone should dine at, at least once in their lifetime. Definitely not a place you would accidently stubmble onto as it is hidden away on a side street. Wait staff was extremely well trained and attentive. The open kitchen gives you a view of what really happens when your order is placed. The scallops were prepared to perfection. My wife had the special, a veal chop medium rare. She says it was one of the best meals she has had in quite some time. The food was terrific and the atmosphere was unique and different from all of the "glorified fast food restaurants". Pricing was perfect too. We will definately be back and refer the restaurant to our friends.
