Diner Reviews
  • "My friends and I were very happy with both the food and Timothy our server. This was the first time my friends were patrons of the restaurant. My son and his wife, my husband and myself had brunch there late January. This was our first time but my son and his wife had a staycation some time in December 2013. We loved the space. Timothy was a server at these two occasions."

  • "Brunch and matinee is a family tradition for us at least twice a year. The Livingston never fails to please all ages and they get you to the Fox on time. Great experience."

  • "With it's storied history, beautiful architecture, ambiance, and a location directly across the street from the Fox Theater, the Livingston is an ideal choice for a pre-show meal. My family has dined at the Livingston on two occasions for precisely this reason and found it a good enough experience. The food, while tasty, is not especially exciting and the menu can be described as limited at best. For the price of a three course meal though, I can't complain about the food too much. The service has left me unimpressed on both visits. The poor wait staff seems overburdened and the timing slow. Allow at least 1.5 hours to get through your meal before a show and do consider heading elsewhere for dessert to avoid disappointment."

  • "I thought the service has gone down hill. they brought our food before appts. Servers looked messy. One server told us she had our table then we had another server. Just a weird night."

  • "This was my first time visiting Livingston, and I wad highly impressed! The fried green tomatoes were out of this world! We dined on the terrace and watched as everyone walked the streets of Atlanta. I could not have picked a better spot for our celebration!"

  • "Great place for dinner before heading to the Theatre."

  • "The space is beautiful. Impeccable renovation. Food was ok. Has a very cool vibe. Damon Albarn and his band were in the bar having a round if drinks prior to their show at Fox Theater. We went to show at Eqyptian Ballroom and then returned for a drink at P&P. Fun night."

  • " We were expecting an upscale eloquent experience. Looking at the décor that is what you should get. First thing we noticed no white table cloths. In fact no table cloth at all. The staff wore an assortment of clothing styles but mostly blue jeans. Really? We had to wait to place our order. But then suddenly the food appeared all at once. Just like McDonalds. The presentation was really good the food looked great on the plate. It was also quite tasty as well. There just was not much of it. Do not come here hungry as you will certainly leave that way. At $80 for 2 the meal was over priced for what you get. I think most people will be happy eating here as this is what the dining experience has become at most places."

  • "We went here before Evita at The Fox. Our reservation was early enough to give us plenty of time so our meal was relaxed in the beautiful opulence of this hotel. The meal was a wonderful blending of favors with healthy unusual ingredients. The duck was excellent and the cauliflower popcorn is a must experience I would repeat. A light dessert of favorful sorbets was the perfect finish to our meal."

  • "Was disappointed that we could not order from a menu but the buffet was very good and the fried chicken to die for!"

  • "My husband and I ate at Livingston Restaurant before the matinee at the Fox Theatre. The food was delicious with breakfast and lunch items. The servers were pleasant but not very attentive. Also, the background music was not good. Overall, the experience was great and we would eat there again."

  • "Their weekend brunch before shows at the Fox is really good. The couple of times we've been there, the buffet has consisted of scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, french toast, shrimp & grits, fried chicken, collard greens, a mixed green salad, and another salad that contains fruits. They also have a nice selection of desert items. The food is maintained at a high quality by the attentive staff and does not get dried out or overcooked. Upon first glimpse, I was wishing that they had more lunch fair, than breakfast, but that thought dwindles as I fill my plate with the breakfast food. They also make a decent bloody mary."

  • "Very disappointed in this restaurant. They had a limited menu that included two beef entrees and no fish. I asked if they had any specials and was told they had one special and it was a vegetarian dish."

  • "I wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday with a lovely dinner before seeing a show at the Fox. When the Livingston called to confirm my reservation, they suggested seating in the mezzanaine looking out onto the Fox. It was perfect, and actually very quiet up there. The meal was superb; we shared an order of mussels, cooked in a delicious broth, perfect for soaking up into bread. I had the crispy duck--moist and tender; my wife had the scallops...also perfectly cooked. Great wine. And the best Manhattan I've had here in Atlanta. Great dining experience, followed by a walk across the street to a great show. Perfect. "

  • "Reservation made for 6:15. Arrived 5:50. Told to wait in bar until closer to 6:15 and they would come to get my party. I paid bar bill at 6:40 and left. The hostess did not even show the courtesy of telling us that there was a delay in seating us. We do not have to be treated like that, so we left."

  • "Fortunately, we printed out a confirmation of our reservation, because when we got to the restaurant, they had NO RECORD of our reservation! They said "they had to seat us" so put us at the end of a table for 12. (There were only 2 in our party.) We asked to be seated outside, which they "allowed". We didn't get menus, or drink orders since we were "unexpected". So, if reserving through OpenTable - PRINT OUT YOUR RESERVATION and take it with you!"

  • "Wonderful place to go before an event at The Fox. Beautiful restaurant, great food, & lovely theatre makes for a great evening in our fascinating city. "

  • "We had dinner here on a Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. and the restaurant was empty. It was so uncomfortable, we asked to be moved outside by the street. I assume this restaurant is only hopping when the FOX is up and running. Having said that, the food was excellent and needless to say, the service was great. We tried to get a reservation on Friday, but they were booked so I don't quite understand their policy on reservations; we didn't see any FOX activity scheduled for that night. It's not cheap. Perhaps, its patrons are mostly tourists visiting the city and the FOX."

  • "This is such an easy place to eat if you are staying at the Georgian Terrace Hotel. Nice dining room and the bar is connected but separated by glass so that the noise is low in the bar area. Great decor, drinks, wines and food is good, not great but for a hotel it is affordable and service is excellent. There is a nice terrace out front where you can have drinks and dinner and people watch. Good place to go if you want to see a show at the Fox theater and have dinner or drinks before or dessert after the show. "

  • "We went to the Livingston around 5:30 for an early dinner. We were the first ones there so it was quiet as we had the place to ourselves. Service was excellent, as was the wine and food. Would go again."

  • "Large terrace around two sides of the restaurant allows for excellent outdoor eating and drinking while watching the folks come and go on Peachtree St. An excellent place to go for cocktails and nosh before an event and a superb place to eat following an event. Moderately priced with a variety that should allow everyone to find something interesting. The food is very good and service is excellent."

  • "My husband and I live 3 blocks from the Livingston and go there for special occasions. The setting is beautiful and the service is great. The food is well made and presented. We love watching the action at the Fox through the window. It's a classy place to enjoy a good meal."

  • "They had food stations set up for Mothers Day. Honestly for $38 a piece I expected more meat and side choices but the food there was good. My wife loved the desserts and the atmosphere was amazing. I was just hoping for a little bit better food for the money. I'm sure the brunch is great. A lot of the food choices would be perfect for that like French toast, bacon, grits etc. We went there for dinner and that is why I wish they had more options catered to that meal. Don't get me wrong, nice place, I just left unsatisfied for the price."

  • "We went for dinner on Mother's Day (buffet to 7 pm). Food selection was OK, but not spectacular. Lots of staff, but they were not particularly attentive. A few wore scowls, although some were friendly. Bar could not make a Kir as they lacked creme de cassis. We asked to sit outside, which seemed to throw them for a bit of a loop. The restaurant automatically added 18% gratuity to the bill. I understand that many restaurants do this for larger groups but: 1. This was not appropriate for a family of 5, and 2. An 18 % tip is wrong when the food is served from a buffet. All the wait staff did was bring us water and a few drinks. I took a star off for this. Also, valet forgot to get our car after being given the ticket when we left. Training?"

  • "Overall good. The place has a lot of potential. Just needs more update in the eating area. The waiters were not trained to be proffesional. Food was good !"

  • "This is a good place for me to meet my party before we go to a play at the Fox, as it is conveniently located. I especially like that they now serve a buffet starting at 11:00 on Sundays. We can eat at our leisure and get over to the Fox in plenty of time to be seated before the play."

  • "First off, I must say that the restaurant and hotel are beautiful. You really can't ask for a more elegant atmosphere to enjoy a meal. With the brunch being a buffet, you would assume the drink service would be quick/ timely. This was not the case at all. It took 10 minutes for a server to come to our table to take our order for drinks, and another 15 minutes for our first coffee to arrive. We were at the restaurant for over an hour, and never got a refill of coffee. Many of the staff members of the restaurant seemed to be just standing around, with no sense of urgency. I commented to the reception about this, and I think she said there were some staff absentees that day. Still, with idle staff, why the slow service? "

  • "The staff was very unfriendly. We had a package deal that we bought through the hotel (Georgian Terrace) and felt like no one knew how it worked. It said it included a 3 course meal when apparently was only up to a $ amount. After only ordering water and two entrees, the server simply told us we were good to go. No explanation of the charges, no receipt, had no idea if tip was included, didn't know if there was still a credit left. I was floored by how unprofessional and unfriendly the staff seemed to be. I would not recommend ordering any packages. Overall the decor and food was good but service was terrible. Having been in the service industry myself, I hold customer service at a very high standard. I would not eat there again."

  • "Great place for a delicious meal and a lovely dinner pre theater. My son and I had a lovely meal before the show. We were seated right away, great service and very nice wine list. My son loved his steak and said it was tender and delicious. I had the chicken which was juicy and perfect. We've eaten here several times and enjoyed everything we've had. Great atmosphere!"

  • "Food was so-so and felt over-priced for the quality. We stayed at the Georgian Terrace and saw a show at the Fox that night so the location was perfect. We had a great night, but we will not go back. Lots of great food in Midtown within walking distance of the Fox."

  • "Food was very good but portions were very small. i.e. 3 scallops and a few clams for $26.00. Three of our party had wine and it appeared that amount in each glass was less than at other fine restaurants. My drink was fine .The food presentation was excellent and all our meals were delicious "

  • "We experienced very poor service the entire time we were at Livingston. We had to flag down a waitress to get our drink orders and then track down another waiter just to get water 20 minutes after we had been there. Each time we needed something and had to get someone's attention (no one ever spontaneously came by the table) they acted annoyed that we had bothered them. We will not be returning, which is a shame, because the food was pricey, but good."

  • "Made a reservation this past weekend for brunch before seeing The Lion King. Was disappointed to find out it was a buffet, seemed a little bit too casual for the upscale environment. The food was alright and the breakfast basics were offered, most of which could compete with most diners. In fairness, can anything served buffet-style really be that impressive? The service was also what I would've expected from a diner, not upscale restaurant. Everyone was nice and friendly, but but it seemed like our waiter hadn't been fully trained on the details of creating a fine dining experience, such as folding napkins, not taking / replacing silverware after courses, removing white napkin after hostess gave us the black, etc. Glad we tried it, though!"

  • "Made reservations online on the Livingston website but the restaurant did not have them. I showed the confirmation email to the hostess. I was asked if I wanted to sit inside or outside, I said "Inside". Another lady came up and was told my reservations did not show up. I was then taken to a table outside. Dressed nicely and expecting a pleasant dinner with my wife was quickly taken away. With no time to make other arrangements, we were stuck. Food was just ok."
