We enjoyed our dinner oct 19 at live oak. Service was outstanding, great wine list at reasonable price with a large selection by the glass. The menu was very interesting and well presented, although the seafood pasta was salty, and rather ordinary and the pork belly was not the best I've had. Overall, very good, we would go back

Visited Sea Pines in Hilton Head for the past 11 years. Finally found a gem where we had delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners! So glad the Live Oak opened in March to great acclaim. The ambiance and food are par excellant. Only gave it four stars, rather than five, because the service was so poor.

This was a most enjoyable dining experience. We had a late dinner on the veranda of the dining room. The temperature outside a balmy 72 degrees. The food was excellent. The service attentive and charming. We had drinks in the bar first and lived the atmosphere there too. We are returning in June 2015 and look forward to fining at Live Siam again.

The view from inside the dining room looking over the marsh of the low country was lovely. The waiter was attentive, informative, and pleasant. The food was delicious and presented beautifully. I would highly recommend this gem for a wonderful dinner, and for a special occasion as well as just an evening out.

The setting was very pleasant and the service was very good, but Live Oak did not deliver on the most important element, food quality. In general the food was bland. My wife had crab cakes (I sampled) and we agreed they were perhaps the most tasteless crab cakes we had ever had. Add to the list of bland foods, spaghetti squash (served with the crab cakes), shaved brussel sprouts (served with both our entrees) and my Yukon Gold mashed potatoes. The one bright spot was my Filet. We both started with Caesar Salads and they were mediocre at best. It was not the dining experience we had hoped for from such a lovely setting and the pricy food. We enjoy fine dining but expect the quality of food to match the price.

Could not wait to try this on recommendations. I have lived on the island for 25 years and was so excited to see the new renovations and have a great meal... Terribly disappointed. The food was so bland! How do you not make a good Reuben? My friends salad came with no dressing, the second salad had a chunk of ice in the bottom of the bowl. Although the atmosphere was fabulous, I am not sure I would go back! neither one of us had a good experience.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Live Oak. Romantic and stylish setting, but refreshingly lacking in the stuffiness that often characterizes top restaurants. Food is outstanding, an innovative evolution of classic Low Country staples into haute cuisine without losing their roots. How many fine restaurants would include a tasty sample of good ol' pork belly to complement succulent pork tenderloin? Wait staff is friendly and welcoming without pretension. Highly recommended for a special night out while on the Island.

After reading the reviews, my expectations were higher than the experience I had. The restaurant is located in a private golf community, which will cost you $6.00 at the entrance gate to drive to the restaurant. The photos of the dining room give it a more grandeur feel then it is actually . Our waiter was excellent and very helpful, making suggestions that unfortunately did not live up to his recommendations. I had the braised short ribs, which were fine, however; not outstanding in favor or presentation. For dessert I had a piece of coconut cake, which again was highly recommended, but failed short on flavor, certainly not outstanding. My advice save your 6 bucks and put it towards a better meal.

Brought my mother for a birthday dinner. This is a new restaurant and a fantastic addition to Sea Pines. The dining room overlooks the golf course greens with spectacular views. Our server, James, was very courteous and knowledgeable about the menu - outstanding service from the entire staff. We both enjoyed a three course meal, which was great quality and tasty - I had the swordfish - yum! We ate dinner at two other spots on the island and the bills were only a few dollars difference here and there. For the price, Live Oak was by far the best food, ambiance, and quality of service out of all the more popular restaurants we visited. Thank you James and to the staff of Live Oak for making mom's birthday dinner such a pleasure.

Started with the beautiful Live Oak dining room, James our knowledgeable and entertaining waiter detailed the menu for us and the Chef delivering a unique preparation and presentation of the offerings followed by dessert and port on the porch providing a view of the lake and golf course. We especially enjoyed the lamb off the bone (but with the bone) and the "special" Mac & Cheese made with Blue Cheese and fried. The desserts were the perfect end to a fabulous evening. We have dined at some of the best restaurants in the world, Live Oak is at the top of our favorites list! Do not miss it! CHEERS!

Beautiful restaurant with quiet atmosphere. Seated at a table by the window overlooking golf course. Outdoor couches and seating also which would be good to try including just to meet for cocktails and appetizers. Food was good and for our first time we enjoyed it but would have liked the server to have been a little more informative on the what the selections were about. We heard another server describing some of the dishes at another table and that's how we knew more about how the dishes were prepared.

My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner with a window table inside with a beautiful early evening view of the golf course. The food presentations were very attractive on unusually shaped plates. The shrimp and grits was served in a wide bowled dish with a small well, which resulted in a rather small serving for the price point. Otherwise the food was quite good, and all locally sourced. The newly built Plantation Club House is lovely, and a vast improvement over the original facility which was razed last year for the rebuild. Very friendly and welcoming service.

This was a new restaurant to us and we weren't sure what to expect. The place was empty when we arrived at 6:30 but was crowded at 7:00. Since the evening weather was pleasant we dined outside overlooking the golf course. What a great view. The service was wonderful and the food was even better. The staff and manager were very attentive and pleasant. We will definitely dine there again on our next trip to Hilton Head.

My wife and I went for an anniversary dinner. Before hostess even asked our name, we were told we would not be seated yet so as to not overwhelm the kitchen. (Hi to you too?) We walked the building which is new and beautiful. The deck overlooks a gorgeous scenic golf course. We were a bit late for sunset - def make your reservation for sunset. After being sat down and told not to overwhelm kitchen, everything was rushed. As our appetizer was on the table, our dinners were being put down. That's a no no. Had to ask for water glasses to be filled. When I'm paying $120 for dinner for two, I expect the restaurant to be on top of service from greeting to departure. Went for special occasion, but didn't feel that special.

As an annual Hilton Head vacationer, it's always wonderful to find a new addition to our families restaurant rotation. Live Oak provided us with the perfect evening! From the gorgeous dining room with the scenic views, to the attentive and friendly staff, including our amazing waiter, James, we had a perfect evening. Farm to table fresh produce, delicious breads with homemade butter, incredible entrees and unbelievably decadent deserts (not to mention an extensive wine list) rounded out a great experience. We thoroughly enjoyed Live Oak restaurant during our annual summer trip to Sea Pines in HHI. The special fish entree was excellently prepared and we are grateful for the knowledgeable waiter's guidance with menu selection. We enjoyed crab cake appetizer, fried green tomato appetizer, and a special spicy pulled pork dip that was delicious. Service was top-notch and ambiance fabulous. We appreciated the kids menu- our children noshed on grilled salmon, French green beans, and salad, plus enjoyed their dessert choice.

We dined at Live Oak our last night in Hilton Head and were looking forward to it after reading the reviews. I was a bit disappointed. I had asked if we could dine on the terrace and had requested this when I made the reservation. I was told that because it had rained earlier they put us inside at a window seat which was appreciated. We later saw several groups of people seated outside. The food is good, portions are average. I had the grouper special which was tasty and my husband had the filet. We each ordered salads and were told the dressings were not home made. We shared the peach cobble which was tasty. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was good but if I had to chose again I would have eaten elsewhere.

I've been going to Hilton Head for years and Live Oak, which opened in April 2014, is definitely a new gem of Sea Pines. The ambience is something special and has great views of the golf course. The new building is gorgeous with historical photos for decor, and has reused bricks and beams in the construction. The environment is only the beginning for Live Oak - the food is fantastic and Chef Ryan Hicks definitely pays attention to detail and serves fresh local ingredients and high quality fish and meats. I would recommend starting with a daily soup and move to the home-made crab cakes or the seafood pappardelle. We had fresh peach crumble in a skillet with locally sourced ice cream for dessert. Everything was amazing! Great wine too!

the resort hit a home run with this new facility. The view from the veranda is wonderful and is the perfect compliment to the restaurant's stylish yet comfortable decor. Our server's enthusiasm for her job (ensuring a pleasurable dining experience) and pride in the Live Oak were obvious. The menu was well conceived to fit a range of tastes without sacrificing the local low country essence Live Oak is dedicated to incorporating into its dishes. Presentation was appealing for all courses and the food on par with expectations for a finer restaurant. The wine list was not expansive but very adequate. In addition I could not help but notice that there was a nice array of craft beer offerings featured that showed well thoughout menu pairing.

All of us are from a city from out of town, outside the area of Live Oak. We had to cancel a resevation at another resaurant to fit this one into our schedule. We have been to this locatin previously and have our favorites to return to. My daughter and I were agreeable to try a new dining experience, and especially one that came so highly rated. We were more than satisfied. We rate it as top. My daughter and I will definately return when we visit the area. We thought the food was delicious, the service outstanding and the atmosphere perfect. We enjoyed Live Oak to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our family. We had a party of 8, from St Louis, Chicago, and Northern California, including two young boys (7and 11). We were seated in the private room adjoining the bar; that proved to be a brilliant choice. We received excellent service and were able to insulate ourselves from the hustle and bustle of the bar and main dining room. That enabled us to play word games, etc. to include the boys , in a way that would have not been possible in the main room (though that looked appealing for an adult gathering). The food was quite good. When/if we return to Sea Pines, we will definitely seek out Live Oak again.
