  • "The food is not great. You can get a much better tasting meal and a better atmosphere at Donna's, Gertrudes (at the BMA), etc. for the same price. The presentation of the food doesn't work. It feels like they are mimicking food presentation, as oppose to really understanding it. My salmon was dry and my wife's shrimp and grits was too salty."

  • "I found this restaurant as it was listed in my hotel magazine as one of the top 50 restaurants in Baltimore. The appetizer was very good but the clam/pasta entree was very salty. Service to ask if we wanted a second drink was slow but the worst part was hearing the chef yell at the help. They have an open kitchen set up and we were in a separate room. We could clearly hear the chef screaming at the help which totally distracted us from our meal and the conversation we were trying to have."

  • "The food was great, but it is not the local organic spot I thought it was. The food was great, but i was surprised they had Atlantic Salmon on the menu which has unsustainable seafood farming practices. I thought it was a drop in replacement for Bicycle, and although the food was great, seasonal, and well priced it does not have the sustainable values I thought it did."

  • "We eat here frequently because of the great food and quiet ambience (which is rare in Federal Hill). On this visit the food was up to its high standards, however, the restaurant was not quiet. For some reason there was a magician going from table to table doing card tricks and yelling as he went along. I can't tell you how off-putting this was as my wife and I tried to have a conversation at the end of a tough week. Please, I beg you, do not allow that magician back in your establishment. If we want noise and entertainment there are plenty of other venues for that in Federal Hill. What we like about your place is the food and serenity."

  • "Tried this for Restaurant Week and it was a great choice. The brussel sprout salad was fantastic and while the risotto balls were good, they were pretty rich and filling, so beware and choose the salad instead. The baked cod was wonderful and so was the pork, all with lots of tasty spinach. The panacotta was also great and the cookies were incredibly rich. Only drawback to this restaurant is the parking -- we circled the streets for a while and finally found a tiny space. The valet parking is not obvious."

  • "Fixed Price menu during Restaurant Week offered diverse selections. Brussel sprout salad was tasty, flank steak had amazing taste. Happy to see local foods on menu. Service was friendly, able to make recommendations . Loved wine tasting~ 3 oz each of 3 wines. Music and ambiance was festive yet not overpower- ing."

  • "We went on Feb 15 and they only had a prefix Valentines day menu - though they said they we could order ala carte from that menu. Problem was that menu was very limiting and when I made reservations the website did not state they were going to have a limited menu or the prefix menu from the night before (Valentine's Day). So that was disappointing as the menu the website looked interesting. The prefix menu was not very exciting. The food was done well just not overwhelming where I left thinking I wanted to tell people about the place. Definitely a cute place, a nice neighborhood restaurant. Service was a bit slow as there seemed to be only one server. Overall good based on what I had..."

  • "We live in the neighborhood and have been to Liv2eat on two prior occasions. We really enjoyed our first dinner there, and again for brunch. We decided to come there for this past Valentine's Day, and I was disappointed to see there was a "pre-fixe" menu. I looked all over the website ahead of time but saw nothing regarding a special V-Day menu so we thought we would get their regular menu which is great. Our 1st, 2nd, and 4th courses were good - Oyster soup, Fettuccine, and Cookies/Cream dessert. My only complaint was the main course choices, cod or greek lamb. The greek lamb was very salty and a very random choice compared to the rest of the courses. Not a fan. However, the service and ambience was cute and helpful as usual."

  • "From the time you walk in the door, you are welcomed. This is the kitchen that will not disappoint only matched by a knowledgeable wait staff who add to the dining experience without becoming the dining experience. Short seasonal menu allowing the chefs to focus on each individual dish. Oyster stew was creamy without being heavy filled with large gently simmered oysters. My fish was moist, firm and delicately seasoned. Desserts are worth the trip itself. How can cookies be so outstanding, try them and find out yourself. My thoughts are that if table cloths and dimmer lights were in place, this would be the most well rounded romantic dining spot in the city, without snobbery. Oh and don't miss brunch, Yummy!"

  • "Our Valentines day started out with a screaming child carrying balloons hitting my head as she shrieked across the room. Then they only had a set menu (not listed on website when I made reservation). The soup was as close to canned as it could possibly be, followed by a shrimp pasta........or rather pasta with one shrimp. ONE. SHRIMP. The next course was a "romantically shared entree" ....read one entree, but this way we can charge more and not have to give each person their own meal. The saltiest, worst crock pot lamb I have ever eaten. Did I mention we had no water? Had to ask 3 times to get a glass of water. To as insult to injury it was SO hot in the dining room that people were sweating and complaining. NEVER GO HERE."

  • "liv2eat has become one of our favorite places in downtown Baltimore. The restaurant and the bar have a cozy feel to them (years ago it used to house the Bicycle restaurant), and it's fun to see the chef and crew in action preparing your dinner. The menu is intentionally kept small to ensure the freshness of ingredients and high quality of food. The service is very attentive and friendly and familiar with the menu and wine list. I highly recommend a visit."

  • "What a great find! I believe I have now had the best pork loin ever. The pork was cooked and seasoned to perfection. It needed nothing, but the spinach and savory accompanients were not only a perfect accompaniment (I like the comfort food trend, but needed a welcome break from everyhting with pork belly, etc) they were not heavy and the plate was presented well enough that it caught my attention. It is a limited menu, but they have several meat choices, including fish, a vegetarian/pasta choice, and a burger. Who cares if the menu is not huge as long as they do what they do so well, right? Now, I hope don't have a problem getting in the restaurant by taking the time to right a note of this length. ... a first for me."

  • "Great food, had a wonderful shrimp & grits plate that was to die for. My only complaint is that we went on a Sunday night and they were not serving 3 out of the 5 dinner plates. They claimed that since it was Sunday, they had run out of ingredients from a busy Saturday night. I get that, but it was disappointing that my first two dinner choices were unavailable. Otherwise, nice dining experience and I would recommend to a friend."

  • "This is the place to go for quality, balanced dishes. Their clam chowder is thickened with potato instead of being overloaded with cream, it's like San Fran in a bowl. The salmon carpaccio is cured there so it isn't overly intense, but still pairs amazing with the capers and the acid in the salad. Then, we had a dish of venison loin and pork shoulder, cooked perfectly pink of course. It was paired with cabbage and a gastric that was a perfect accompaniment to such game meat. Plus, what their drink list lacks in countless options it makes up for in thoughtful choices. They had the Full Tilt Berger cookie stout I love but struggle to find. Then our thoughtful server suggested a wine to pair with dinner. Tl;dr eat here"

  • "We ordered the salmon carpaccio appetizer, then the strip steak and venison/wild boar entrees. It was extremely quiet there given that it was just named Best New Restaurant for 2013 by City Paper, but the food was amazing. The draught list isn't very long but they have good local beers and a lot of wine selections. Cleaned our plates- highly recommend!"

  • "This neighborhood nook offers straightforward quality without pretense. The dining area is small and brightly lit, so it's not suitable for date night or if you're looking to make a big event out of your dinner. That said, everyone with me liked their entree. The crab, beef and pork were all carefully seasoned and smartly prepared. The chef's skills are evident. You're here for the food; you can get beer and wine, but there is no liquor. (Probably a good call, since your booze glow would be visible from space, given how bright the place is.) There are also no soup spoons, which makes sense because the French onion soup has no melted cheese. Skip to the risotto fritters and get dessert too. Our waiter was nice, but seemed endlessly confused."

  • "Went here for dinner with my friends on my birthday. We decided to share the food "tapas" style and ordered a few appetizers and entrees between us. The restaurant was very accommodating and did not mind that we did this. The food was wonderful and the wine was awesome! We had a very friendly waitress who proved to be quite helpful in our selections."

  • "The hostess was in a horrible mood, there was no-one in there and she sat us up at the front window jammed in the little spot. My husband is 6' 5" which didn't work. It was also chilly and the chairs are metal so not very comfortable. The waitress was very nice but not good at being a waitress. Since it was cold I asked for tea, she didn't offer me options and I saw 3 on the menu. She never checked back after our appetizer or main dish was delivered to ask if we needed anything, how is everthing, didn't see her again until our plates had been picked up to ask if we wanted desert."

  • "Dinner started out great with the fritters, but the squash soup fell flat, lacking in flavor of any kind. I had only three bites of the soup before the entrees came out. The timing was disappointing and we were not the only table taking about it. We asked them to take the entrees back and of course by the time they arrived, the pork was dry and scallops like rubber."

  • "We started off with appetizers of PEI Mussels, Risotto Fritters and the House Fries. The mussels and fried were great but the surprise were the risotto fritters in a light creme fraiche with shaved parmigiano sprinkled on it! Delicious! I then had the Brussel Sprout salad which was shaved sprouts, bacon, cashews in a vinaigrette piled high but light. Yummy! My friend had the mushroom soup which was very light on the cream and mainly mushrooms but extraordinary! Finally I had the sea scallops, pan seared with brussel sprouts and a squash puree which was so full of flavor I wanted to lick the plate! We shared the "cooked to order" cookies & milk for dessert which really hit the spot! Liv2Eat is a great little gem!"

  • "this restaurant has a very limited menu that never changes. Also, I would not recommend the wine choices. Be careful with the valet parking. After waiting a very long time for them to get our car, they told us that they lost the keys. They said that they think that they dropped them in someone else's car but that they knew who they were and would try to call them to bring the keys back. They then had a limo drive us to our house to get the spare set of keys. On the way back to our house, the called and said that they found the keys. Needless to say, they are very disorganized."

We then enjoyed butternut squash soup, Peking duck confit, and scallops with brussel sprouts. All the dishes were delicious! We look forward to returning."

  • "It took several weeks to get a brunch reservation, as there was never any availability given the limited hours. We arrived on time, but it took over an hour to get seated. The front room was tiny, crowded, and noisy. We were directly in the path of the servers. It took an interminable amount of time to get our drinks and place our orders. My brunch was supposed to be French Toast with fruit and whipped topping - I received 3 pieces of sliced baguette that had been buttered (no egg) and fried till brick-hard. It was painful to eat, there was no fruit/topping, and I had to ask the server to bring syrup. My fiancé had "eggs Florentine" - it was literally just muffin, egg, spinach. No Hollondaise sauce, nothing else. We will not return."

  • "This was really a great place--it was a hoppin' Saturday night, and our waiter was a little overburdened, but still paid as much attention as he could. The food was excellent. My mushroom soup was very flavorful, though a little thick. The pasta dish with squid ink pasta and PEI mussels was fabulous. My mother-in-law had the Amich chicken, which was also great, with a really good parsnip puree. She and I intend to return, which means it appeals to a broad range of ages."

  • "We went to Liv2Eat on a Wednesday night. It was busy with a party in the front room. The staff was gracious and accomodating. Our meals were all excellent and when we left both the hostess and I believe the owner thanked us for coming. Those are the kinds of things that make me want to come back again."
