  • "The food was okay; not memorable. Service was very good and an okay place if you are in the neighborhood I suppose; can be a romantic spot."

  • "My wife and I come back again and again to this restaurant for special dates. It has continued to be our favorite for five or six years. We have never found an item on the menu that was poorly made. Even foods that we don't like elsewhere we like the way they make them here. We like the emphasis on sourcing the food locally when they can. You can taste the freshness. They do not have loud music to make you feel hurried. The waiters are there when you need them but they don't hover over you. We go there to ENJOY a meal. We will sit and relax and enjoy a meal for an hour and a half to two hours. Awesome restaurant."

  • "I have eaten here several times and it is delicious consistently! The service could not be better - just the right amount of interaction & attention. The ambiance is cozy and eclectic and it's the perfect little upscale, neighborhood restaurant. Not pretentious at all and anything goes with regard to dress - jeans or dinner jackets. One of my upscale favorites in B'ham!"

  • "Delicious food with regular size portions. Just the right ammount of food. Waiter very helpful with my food allergy. So nice not to have to dress up to go out for fine food. Yummy cocktails."

  • "Very attentive service, slight issue with over-billing on a beverage -corrected. Food was very good and well presented"

  • "Our group of 6 gets together to celebrate birthdays and Little Savannah is always a great spot for us. The staff is engaging and handles all of our substitutions to the menu without a problem. We had great wine at a very reasonable price. All good"

  • "We were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary while we were in Birmingham (for a chemo treatment the following day) & preferred somewhere that used local farms & produce, & it certainly fit the bill. We were immediately impressed by the coziness of the space & friendliness of the staff (& even the other patrons)... comfortably upscale but not certainly not stuffy! After seating us, our host & server offered a complimentary glass of champagne, allowed time to look over the menu, then explained each dish in detail. The food was incredible...from the spicy corn muffins to the entrees, drinks & dessert. Yes, it was a little pricey, but I don't mind paying a little more for extraordinary, locally grown food & exceptional service!"

  • "I have eaten here on several occasions and had good service and good food but ate there last Friday and the whole experience was awful! Our server made the statement like " I feel you are waiting on me to tell you what to order". The restaurant was not crowded, yet it took awhile after drinks were ordered before they arrived at the table. The duck was overcooked, too salty , the grits with the pork chop were excessively over salted and the tenderloin was bland. The churros for dessert were the size of piece of chalk again with too much salt. The meal was over $200.00 and you would have expected a better meal at that price. The do not believe that Cliff or Maureen were there that night. will not be back"

  • "My wife and I visited Little Savannah for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. The food, service and wine list was excellent, though my f Beef filet was a bit chewy for tenderloin. Our only complaint was it is a bit noisy which made conversation difficult. Perhaps they need add some soft surfaces! This will not stop us from coming back though, and we recommmend this jewel of a restaurant. "

  • "My wife and I took a week to play the Robert Trent Jones Trail. Needed to come up with a solid mother's day foodie play. She is still talking about it. Great food, great service. If we lived in the area we would be a regular."

  • "Our family enjoyed the food, but felt that the portions were unusually small. My husband said,"Well, where should we go to eat after this." The prices were high for the portions, but the food was well-prepared. "

  • "Can't believe we've lived and worked around this place for 20 years and not discovered it. We planned an early dinner to make the theater, so restaurant was just picking up steam when we left at 7:30 PM. 6:00 PM reservation made access easy. Staff was delightful and pleasant from the reservation to departure. Such a nice place we wanted to hang out and chat. Food was excellent. Try the catfish and grits if it is available. Pork Rilliets (ree-aay) was a first for us. Very flavorful. Ask for extra bread. You will want to eat every last bite. We will definitely return and bring along another couple. "

  • "The owners and staff are friendly and deserve better from what ever was the problem. We have eaten there twice and both times there are clearly "in" customers and "out" customers. It's a neighborhood eatery and if you live there I suspect you are treated better. Our food was an hour in coming and sub par when it got there. I'll not eat there again, but if I was asked, I would recommend taking a local with you, or dine elsewhere. "

  • "In our reservation, I let Little Savannah know that we were celebrating 2 birthdays. We arrived to celebratory glasses of champagne which set a great tone for the evening. I had also let the restaurant know that 2 of the diners were on fairly restrictive food programs (no fat, carbs or sugars) and our waiter had two suggestions from the chef to meet our needs. It was a relaxing evening with great food and a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend it."

  • "I've been to Little Savannah on multiple occasions and have always had a great meal. This time I had the shrimp and grits to start and the lamb for dinner. Both were perfectly prepared and in proper portions. Service was great, made you feel like you were a guest in their own home. I used to live close enough to walk there and now eat there every time that I'm back in Birmingham."

  • "Easter brunch was excellent. The food and service were just right. We went to a Sunday brunch a couple of years ago and waited a very long time for our food. I'm glad we gave Little Savannah a second chance. I hope they will open for Sunday brunch on other special occasions."

  • "This restaurant is for those that care more about the food than ambience. The wait staff is pleasant and efficient and we are going again for sure!! The serving sizes are also great - not too much - just right."

  • " Our meal Friday night was wonderful. The food was great, well presented, the service was outstanding, and the wine was spot on. What follows is not intended to detract from the experience. The downer for us was noise. I understand that there are inherent problems when using older construction, and noise will always be a consideration. My problem was largely beyond your control. I found that two couples seated next to us, though that they were at a football game. Shouting, etc. made it impossible to speak across the table. I though that even though that went on for almost the entire dinner, it did not us from wanting to return for dinner again."

  • "As always, Little Savannah delivered. We originally had reservations for 6 and had to change to accommodate 2 other people. Wasn't able to do so through Open Table, but the restaurant gladly accommodated. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere made for a terrific birthday celebration for the family!"

  • "Wow!! We had a great dinning experience al fresco on the back patio. The server was fun, knowledgeable and attentive, the owners visited our table to insure that we were enjoying our meal. The food presentation looked as if it came off the of the pages of a Food and Wine magazine and food had great flavor, yielded by super fresh ingredients without all of the pretension of many upscale restaurants. My wife and I met a couple of friends on their date night out and all agreed that we would use this location again for our date night."

  • "I hadn't been to Little Savannah in a couple of years. The menu is limited and upon first reading was disappointing. The waiter, however, was spectacular! He described each of the dishes - and every single one became a dish we all wanted. We ended up with two folks getting the shrimp and grits and the rabbit for the third. Both dishes lived up to the hype! The wine selection was limited but good and not over priced. This was a professional meeting and the noise level was such that we could communicate easily. We'll be back much sooner next time."

  • "We've always had great food at Little Savannah, at least until now. The service was good as usual but we could not believe the food that was presented. I had the pork which was extremely dry. It tasted like leftovers. My wife had the shrimp and grits. They were bland, again seemingly not recently prepared. We were seated near the bar where some inebriated soul was carrying on. Overall a very disappointing evening."

  • "Because I was late in getting a reservation, my guest and I weren't able to dine at Little Savannah on Valentine's Day. The occasion of our latest meal there was a "make-up" for the actual holiday. This is a favorite restaurant and I go there as frequently as possible. The atmosphere is relaxed; the food always well prepared and presented; the wine list adequate and affordable. Don't change a thing."

  • "Warm neighborhood vibe in an austere setting. Lots of fun cocktails to choose from. Interesting menu and quiet so that you could actually enjoy a conversation with your table mates. Food was delicious and well prepared and the apple cobbler was perfect. Great experience."

  • "We couldn't get a reservation at Ocean and decided to give Little Savannah a try. What a disappointment! Appertizers in fancy restaurants usually are great and require lots of thoughts and creavitity. What we had on Valentine's day at Little Savaanah were under prepared. Winter kale salad only had a couple of dry leaves with several raw walnut bites with plain vinaigrette. I could have made this in less than 5 minutes myself. The duck entree tasted good but the portion was extremely small for the price. The trio desert was a joke - three tiny bites smaller than a coin and none of them had any serious cooking involved in their creation. We were extremely unsatisfied and wished we had gone to another restaurant."

  • "1st I want to say I love LS & have been a fan for years. A 2 rating is due to the fixed menu, PRICE & the fact I was not told this would be the only option (I spoke to LS twice after booking on OT) . The food was good as was the service - but the price & portions provided were not a good value at all - every person in our party left hungry & we stopped later in the evening for appetizer. We had a group from out of town that we bragged on LS about & they were excited to go - we were very much embarrassed 1st when we were presented with a fixed menu, and then after when it was obvious the portions were a bit small and then the bill (my part of it was $250 including 4 glasses of wine). Come on LS, you're much better than this!!!"

  • "Terrific experience once again. It has been over a year since the last time I dined here. This place is still just as great as I remembered. The food and drinks are perfectly done. Our waitress was on point with her knowledge of the menu and willing to accommodate our requests and questions. My only concern is what I think of as polenta is creamy and decadent NOT grits. This said, had I expected grits, these were savory and seasoned perfectly."

  • "This place was a little out of the way, I wouldn't have noticed it but for trip advisor. The food was high quality, definitely, but for the price other fine dining establishments offer a little better quality and larger portions. We had pan seared red snapper, duck confit, apple crumble, a manhattan, and an old fashioned. Everything was great, but I can honestly say I have no reservations about the cocktails. They were fantastic. My favorite aspect of the restauraunt was the high quality food, great cocktails, and MINIMAL pretentiousness. Not a snooty waiter in sight. They jokingly make men remove their ties when they come in.. so have a slightly more casual atmosphere."

  • "Little Savannah is an excellent restaurant that we go to regularly. I would highly recommend it but our experience on valentines was poor. The menu was fixed (which is ok) but fairly pricy for what it was but the main issue was we felt like we were at red lobster. Total in and out time was 70 minutes, no time to finish cocktail before dinner arrived, staff rushing to move us in and out to make room for the next set of lovebirds. We will definitely go back but not on special occasions!"

  • "All-in-all, this was a great place. They jam a lot of tables into this place so if you do not like sitting close to your neighbor or you want to have a private conversation this will not be your place. The service is 1st class. The food was spot on. We had the onion soup that was very tasty. My wife had the beef tenderloin that was melt in our mouth delicious. I had the red snapper that was perfectly coked and very good. The "bedding" the fish was on was not my favorite. i think they can come up with something else that would compliment the fish a little better. We finished the night off with some apple crumble that was fair. Great neighborhood place.....make reservations!"

  • "Awful, actually. Choices on the prix fixe menu were boring & the dishes we ordered (beef tartare then snapper for him; oyster chowder then beef tournedos for me) were mediocre. No presentation value. Dessert "trio," aka a bite of 3 things: a messy truffle, a sliver of banana bread w/chewy, dried banana slices on top (advertised as banana french toast), & a soggy pre-made phyllo cup w/a few marinated strawberries(advertised as champagne strawberry pie). In addition, service was terrible (no spoon for my soup for 5 min, knife for my beef had to be "tracked down.") Utensils & plates of cheap grade. Insult to injury, the price was $75/per person. Portions were tiny and we actually went to another establishment for dessert after! Won't be back."

  • "I know Valentines Day is tough on restaurants, but the standard just shouldn't slip this far. Dinner was over-priced and the Prix Fixe menu selection was very limited. The staff was very cordial, but it took too long to get a cocktail and then the moment we ordered our food arrived as though to suggest "please eat quickly and be on your way." The food itself was very good, but the experience was not very enjoyable, which is the entire reason to eat someplace like Little Savannah. We've eaten here several times the last few years and were disappointed."
