  • "Wow!! We had a great dinning experience al fresco on the back patio. The server was fun, knowledgeable and attentive, the owners visited our table to insure that we were enjoying our meal. The food presentation looked as if it came off the of the pages of a Food and Wine magazine and food had great flavor, yielded by super fresh ingredients without all of the pretension of many upscale restaurants. My wife and I met a couple of friends on their date night out and all agreed that we would use this location again for our date night."

  • "I hadn't been to Little Savannah in a couple of years. The menu is limited and upon first reading was disappointing. The waiter, however, was spectacular! He described each of the dishes - and every single one became a dish we all wanted. We ended up with two folks getting the shrimp and grits and the rabbit for the third. Both dishes lived up to the hype! The wine selection was limited but good and not over priced. This was a professional meeting and the noise level was such that we could communicate easily. We'll be back much sooner next time."

  • "Good food, good space. Interesting entree options. Did not try dessert."

  • "We've always had great food at Little Savannah, at least until now. The service was good as usual but we could not believe the food that was presented. I had the pork which was extremely dry. It tasted like leftovers. My wife had the shrimp and grits. They were bland, again seemingly not recently prepared. We were seated near the bar where some inebriated soul was carrying on. Overall a very disappointing evening."

  • "Because I was late in getting a reservation, my guest and I weren't able to dine at Little Savannah on Valentine's Day. The occasion of our latest meal there was a "make-up" for the actual holiday. This is a favorite restaurant and I go there as frequently as possible. The atmosphere is relaxed; the food always well prepared and presented; the wine list adequate and affordable. Don't change a thing."

  • "Warm neighborhood vibe in an austere setting. Lots of fun cocktails to choose from. Interesting menu and quiet so that you could actually enjoy a conversation with your table mates. Food was delicious and well prepared and the apple cobbler was perfect. Great experience."

  • "We couldn't get a reservation at Ocean and decided to give Little Savannah a try. What a disappointment! Appertizers in fancy restaurants usually are great and require lots of thoughts and creavitity. What we had on Valentine's day at Little Savaanah were under prepared. Winter kale salad only had a couple of dry leaves with several raw walnut bites with plain vinaigrette. I could have made this in less than 5 minutes myself. The duck entree tasted good but the portion was extremely small for the price. The trio desert was a joke - three tiny bites smaller than a coin and none of them had any serious cooking involved in their creation. We were extremely unsatisfied and wished we had gone to another restaurant."

  • "Our visit to Little Savannah for our 27th wedding anniversary was outstanding. The food was fantastic and our server, Lauren, was delightful. She was very knowledgeable of everything on the menu and had a really great wine recommendation"

  • "1st I want to say I love LS & have been a fan for years. A 2 rating is due to the fixed menu, PRICE & the fact I was not told this would be the only option (I spoke to LS twice after booking on OT) . The food was good as was the service - but the price & portions provided were not a good value at all - every person in our party left hungry & we stopped later in the evening for appetizer. We had a group from out of town that we bragged on LS about & they were excited to go - we were very much embarrassed 1st when we were presented with a fixed menu, and then after when it was obvious the portions were a bit small and then the bill (my part of it was $250 including 4 glasses of wine). Come on LS, you're much better than this!!!"

  • "Terrific experience once again. It has been over a year since the last time I dined here. This place is still just as great as I remembered. The food and drinks are perfectly done. Our waitress was on point with her knowledge of the menu and willing to accommodate our requests and questions. My only concern is what I think of as polenta is creamy and decadent NOT grits. This said, had I expected grits, these were savory and seasoned perfectly."

  • "This place was a little out of the way, I wouldn't have noticed it but for trip advisor. The food was high quality, definitely, but for the price other fine dining establishments offer a little better quality and larger portions. We had pan seared red snapper, duck confit, apple crumble, a manhattan, and an old fashioned. Everything was great, but I can honestly say I have no reservations about the cocktails. They were fantastic. My favorite aspect of the restauraunt was the high quality food, great cocktails, and MINIMAL pretentiousness. Not a snooty waiter in sight. They jokingly make men remove their ties when they come in.. so have a slightly more casual atmosphere."

  • "Little Savannah is an excellent restaurant that we go to regularly. I would highly recommend it but our experience on valentines was poor. The menu was fixed (which is ok) but fairly pricy for what it was but the main issue was we felt like we were at red lobster. Total in and out time was 70 minutes, no time to finish cocktail before dinner arrived, staff rushing to move us in and out to make room for the next set of lovebirds. We will definitely go back but not on special occasions!"

  • "All-in-all, this was a great place. They jam a lot of tables into this place so if you do not like sitting close to your neighbor or you want to have a private conversation this will not be your place. The service is 1st class. The food was spot on. We had the onion soup that was very tasty. My wife had the beef tenderloin that was melt in our mouth delicious. I had the red snapper that was perfectly coked and very good. The "bedding" the fish was on was not my favorite. i think they can come up with something else that would compliment the fish a little better. We finished the night off with some apple crumble that was fair. Great neighborhood place.....make reservations!"

  • "Awful, actually. Choices on the prix fixe menu were boring & the dishes we ordered (beef tartare then snapper for him; oyster chowder then beef tournedos for me) were mediocre. No presentation value. Dessert "trio," aka a bite of 3 things: a messy truffle, a sliver of banana bread w/chewy, dried banana slices on top (advertised as banana french toast), & a soggy pre-made phyllo cup w/a few marinated strawberries(advertised as champagne strawberry pie). In addition, service was terrible (no spoon for my soup for 5 min, knife for my beef had to be "tracked down.") Utensils & plates of cheap grade. Insult to injury, the price was $75/per person. Portions were tiny and we actually went to another establishment for dessert after! Won't be back."

  • "I know Valentines Day is tough on restaurants, but the standard just shouldn't slip this far. Dinner was over-priced and the Prix Fixe menu selection was very limited. The staff was very cordial, but it took too long to get a cocktail and then the moment we ordered our food arrived as though to suggest "please eat quickly and be on your way." The food itself was very good, but the experience was not very enjoyable, which is the entire reason to eat someplace like Little Savannah. We've eaten here several times the last few years and were disappointed."

  • "Being new to Birmingham, my wife and I have been looking for restaurants over the past few months. We finally found Little Savannah, and we were very glad we did. Great personality and service from the staff (including Cliff, the chef), and outstanding food. The rib appetizer was perfectly slow-smoked - and flavorful, without not the average over-sweet sticky sauce. We also enjoyed the fried duck with sweet potato gratin - outstanding combination! We'll be back, and we'll bring friends."

Warm atmosphere with an experienced staff, lively bar atmosphere and sophisticated restaurant atmosphere makes this a must place to eat. • "I can't stress how much I love this awesome place. The service is top-notch (I've had the same server each time I've been and he's always beyond good). The food is just totally scrumptious, fresh and I love the fact that they support local/Alabama farmers."

  • "Derrick, the host, greeted us at the door. He was friendly and engaging. He turned out to be our server as well. He was attentive but did not hover. The food was outstanding! We had friends in from Atlanta who had never dined there, and they were most impressed. The specialty cocktails were a hit with the gals, while the guys enjoyed martinis (gin, thank you, the real thing). The smoked duck was perfection and so were the beef medallions. Derrick found the last bottle of an Oregon pinot noir, which was not on the wine list, but I had seen on their web site. It was supple with good fruit and structure. We then enjoyed a selection of deserts, coffee and cognac. All in all, a perfect 2+ hours of dining!"

  • "The food was interesting, well prepared and better than average. The service was excellent. The smoked duck breast was delightful and the lamb chops rubbed with coffee were prepared pretty close to my specifications--the flame from the fire must have gotten too hot as they were grilling. My partner loved the snapper fritters, but I didn't find them very interesting--too much like a hush puppy--the snapper got lost somewhere in the batter. I've eaten at Little Savannah"s previously and found the Shrimp and Grits to be delectable. Its a quaint little restaurant that could stand some sound dampening materials to take more of the edge off of the sound bouncing off of concrete and plaster."

  • "Dinner for 4. Each had a different entre, duck, lamb chops, red snapper and spare ribs. All were fabulous except the spare ribs which were dry and tough. Also ordered wilted greens, one of the $6 sides. These never made it to the table. Didn't bother mentioning it because I did not want to wait for them."

  • "There is no way to give this gem enough praise. The shrimp and grits were beyond superb. All of the ingredients were fresh and I LOVE the fact that they support local farmers. It is evident in the quality and freshness of their food that the owners are thankful for the blessings they have been given and appreciate their customers. Our waiter was an absolute pleasure and treated us as if we were family. I had't seen my friend that I was dining with in a year. We sat, ate and talked for several hours. Never were we made to feel rushed. Our drinks were refreshed and we were doted on the entire time. Quite possibly the best dining experience I have ever had...anywhere. If you have never been to Little Savannah, you need to go. Now."
