A word from Little Gretel
Little Gretel, an upscale Central European restaurant specializing in Traditional German, Authentic Czech and American favorites.

Proud of her Czech heritage, Denise Mazal, executive Chef and Owner, strives to bring to her guests a wonderful and unforgettable European experience.

The restaurant is open for a delightful breakfast in the morning – Denise’s Pancakes, Eggs Benedict, and other creations are, as the expression goes, "To Die For.”

Lunch may be enjoyed inside or on our outside patio and the selections are varied for all palates. You must leave room for dessert as they are truly mouthwatering.

Dinner offers fine dining in a romantic setting. The menu has been created with love and passion; these include Honey Glazed Stuffed Pork Chops, Schnitzels, and a whole lot more. We ask that you visit our web page to see our full menus. This is one restaurant you do not want to miss while visiting Boerne.

The food is fantastic. The breakfast is some of the best I've had. I haven't tasted coffee this good since I left Europe. I eat here every time I visit my daughter in Boerne.

Nothing really good to say. My wife had the duck, which she enjoyed. However, I was disappointed in that she was served a leg and thigh and nothing from the breast. I had the sauerbraten which was nothing special. The bread dumplings had an odd taste and simply were not very good. Our waiter had a rather snobbish attitude especially when he learned we were not going to order any alcohol with our meal.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices. Nice to get our of town for a special occasion or just to take a break. Easy drive from San Antonio. They made a quick adjustment to our reservation to accommodate an unexpected guest to our group.

We took my dad there for Father's Day brunch and the food, setting and service were all fabulous. We all tried something different from Eggs Benedict, The Reuben, Crabcake Salad, Lox, Sausage Trio plate and my 2 year old especially loved the mac n cheese fritters. We will certainly be back. We had fun feeding the ducks across the street when we were finished too. 5 Stars across the board!

We had a great, waitress who had an upbeat, friendly attitude. It was a holiday -- Father's Day and it was a little noisy with families there with small children for Sunday brunch -- and we had a long wait for our meal. However, our food was wonderful, and my pancakes lived up to "the best in the hill country."

The setting was quaint and the food was fabulous as was the service. Our waitess came immediately to our table with menus and drink order requests. Coffee for me and it was a great cup of coffee, made fresh by the cup. My first question to the waitress was whether the apples were inside or on top of the pancakes. When she said inside, my mind was made up for apple pancakes. (A childhood favorite of mine) My husband ordered the same thing. My son ordered the Poached Egg on Crab Cake. All were fabulous. A return visit is a must, all the way from Atlanta, GA.

Quaint and authentic! The German menu items were numerous and the cod fish and the brat dishes were both very good. The German sauerkraut was especilly good-milder than my husband and I expected. The Black Forest cuckoo clocks, nutcrackers, and scenic landscape painting added to the authentic flavor of this must visit restaurant.

We were really looking forward to Little Gretel for dinner but were disappointed with the service and the prices seemed high for portions we received. The food quality was good. They could use a few more German/Czech beer choices on tap.

Our waitress was super friendly, and very nice, but wanted used dishes handed to her and also passed our food over others instead of walking around the table and placing it herself...not a deal breaker, but a little disappointing for a 7 course meal service. On the flip side...the food was spectacular, as usual!

  • -Convenience: Little Gretel
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

-Convenience: Little Gretel offers what many restaurants do not - the ability to make *breakfast* reservations. Big plus! -Food: They have a nice variety of good food and the menu is set up in a more a la carte fashion, which allows someone to customize their plate. -Service: Our waiter was abrasive at first, but appeared to take a much needed "deep breath" half-way through the meal and things started to improve. -Ambiance: Situated right across from the river and the mixture of quaint and modern touches give it a relaxing feel. -Give it another try?: Yep!
