A word from Little Fish
Little Fish was founded in the mid-'90s to the delight of Queen Village foodies and pretty much all Philadelphians who give a hoot about great seafood. Chef Chadd Jenkins purchased the long-established BYOB in September 2011 which he had been overseeing as the Chef de Cuisine since 2008. Convention says that when you purchase a successful business you maintain it. Little Fish continues to offer flavors and daring combinations to the recognition of Bon Appétit magazine — 3rd Best New Seafood Restaurant in the USA — and the delight of The New York Times. Little Fish recently swam up stream and reopened in a new location, a stone's throw from its original location where Little Fish continues to earn accolades from national and local press. Most importantly, Little Fish continues to feed old friends and serve new fans every day. Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The food at Little Fish is outstanding. One of the best meals we have had in Philadelphia. We brought some NYC friends to Little Fish and they loved the food."

  • "There was a fantastic assortment of appetizers and entrees. I highly recommend the Tile--was so flavorful and delicious. Our server was very helpful and courteous. Love the decor and overall feel."

  • "Fun place. Very small and hot dining room. We have been going for the five course Sunday tasting menu for years. It has never disappointed. Creative seafood dishes. Always satisfying. BYO. Parking sucks."

  • "It was my first time in little fish I was reading about it a lot but always puting for the next time until last night and I was happy that I finally got in !!! OMG it is the best seafood in Philly by far !!! Anything I ate it was a masterpiece !!! You will not be disappointed."

  • "The Sunday tasting menu is a culmination of creativity, a real knack for amazing flavor combinations, and a chef that puts heart into their work. It's simply the best."

  • "This was our first time at Little Fish. The food was excellent, although I wish I had asked for just a little salt for my Tasmanian sea trout. We would definitely go back -- next time I'd probably go with 2 first courses, the lobster and the hamachi. The staff was great -- very patient & knowledgeable & on top of serving our wine."

  • "Excellent food - had their Sunday night prix fixe. Terrible service. We felt underserved. Arrived on time, ALWAYS the last ones to be served. Even patrons arriving later than us got served and attended to before we did. All night long. We are 2 appropriately dressed young Asian professionals, and the only 2 visible minority that night. RACISM MUCH? I suggest going for the food, and maybe the racial discrimination if you are anyone but a Caucasian."

  • "We had an outstanding meal here - every dish was complex, fresh, and well though-out - but the service was very slow. The chef did send us a complementary appetizer as an apology (which was excellent), but waiting thirty minutes for oysters seemed a bit excessive. We will definitely go back, though, as it had a wonderful intimate feel and a creative, exquisite menu."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The service was unsatisfactory. We had to wait far too much time after our appetizer was finished for our entree. In addition, there was a mistake on our bill as we were charged for 2 different appetizers when we only ordered one. Given the number of tables the waitress had to service it was surprising to have this error."

  • "Little Fish is a wonderful neighborhood find serving incredible food. It was my first oyster experience in Philadelphia, and it was incredible. Little Fish is a top seafood establishment in line with other fresh seafood restaurants in coastal cities. The plates were beautiful to look at, well-balanced in flavor, and all components of the dish were cooked to perfection. I will be returning soon."

  • "Best seafood tasting menu in town. A very reasonable price to boot."

  • "My sister and I were visiting Philly and noted the comments on Little Fish; we booked on opentable. First, this is a BYOB spot which we missed on the Opentable writeup. To their credit, they tried to contact us to make sure we were aware but we didn't connect so we enjoyed the meal with water. The server noted a wine shop w/in walking distance. They have a short menu, but all very interesting. We had oysters and lobster for starters and then Tuna and Salmon for mains. All excellently prepared. We really liked the ambience, 2 cooks working away, 1 server, a max of 30 patrons. Everybody was relaxed, enjoyed their meal as we watched the neighborhood go about its business. A lovely evening."

  • "Having gone to Little Fish twice now for special occasion dinners, I can say it is outstanding! The first time we had two oysters, a First (Starter) and two Seconds (Main dishes) and a dessert. While the second time, we were more swayed by the Firsts than the Seconds, and got two oysters (With Lime, Cucumber, and White Soy), then we ordered the Scallop First, Octopus first and Lobster first, followed by the Ivory King Salmon Second...Thankfully they split up the dishes providing the Scallop and Octopus firsts as our appetizers and then the Salmon, followed by the Lobster. We finished off our meal with the Chocolate Chiffon cake, which was an amazing capstone on a delicious meal."

  • "Tiny fish restaurant, only a few choices, but everything is lovely and made to order. Fish is extra fine quality, delicious oysters, imaginative flavor combinations. Bring your own favorite wine for seafood."

  • "Although the restaurant is very small and the seating tight it is well worth the visit. The food was outstanding and prepared perfectly. Service was more than adequate. Highly recommended"

  • "The quality of the actual food was evident in both the dishes and the prices of the plates. The food was marvelous, though, and that's what really matters."

  • "This past Friday evening was our fourth visit to Little Fish. Have only had good experiences. Certainly ranks as one of our favorite restaurants. The seafood is always impeccably fresh, the preparation exhibits solid technique and the plating is always attractive. Consistently very good. Keep up the good work!"

  • "If you like fish - especially grilled or baked, and prepared with excellent and imaginative accompaniments then this is the restaurant you must visit. Limited menu but fresh fish almost always. BYOB. Been there many times and never disappointed. It's small size makes reservation s advisable"

  • "We went for the Sunday tasting menu. The menu was interesting and varied. Everything was good. Nothing quite knock our socks off. There were minor things I didn't like, like the desert was a combination of cake, ice cream, and strawberries, but I think the balance was off. We finished the ice cream and strawberries and were left with dry cake at the end. The environment and service are very pleasant. Romantic, but low key and comfortable with unobtrusive service. I'd definitely go again."

  • "We've been fans of Little Fish for many years, through its various locations and iterations. This time....just too much going on in each dish. One of the reasons we've enjoyed the restaurant is the focus on the fish. With so many elements and competing flavors on each plate that focus was lost. Additionally, the sauce on the snapper dish had an unpleasant mouth-feel (like undissolved or too much thickener?)...maybe an error at the time of finishing that particular dish...but, in the end, we left somewhat disappointed. "

  • "Really can't say enough good things about Little Fish. From the appetizer to dessert, every dish is expertly prepared. Pick anything off the menu and you won't be disappointed! The seafood is super fresh and the fish is cooked to perfection. Love Little Fish!!"

  • "This has become one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. The chef puts together incredible combinations of flavors, many of which I have never seen or experienced before. The quality of the fish/seafood is obviously about as good as it gets, and the preparations are exceptional. Prices are not cheap (mid-$30s for fish entres), but good luck finding seafood like this for any less. The fact that it is a BYOB also helps! HIGHLY recommend for foodies and fans of seafood!"

  • "Just love it. It's intimate, no-fuss mood and food, and I feel lucky to live in Philadelphia so I can frequent it."

  • "Creating and presenting perhaps the best fresh fish entrees in the city. The menu (posted daily) is limited, and the dining room is quite compact, but there's nothing small or restrained about the size, quality or opulent presentation of the dishes. And it's not cheap in price either (entrees typically run from the low to mid 30s), but you'd be hard-pressed to find such innovative, intriguing and downright ichthy-licious dishes in the whole city. Our group sampled each of the four entrees featured - halibut, sea trout, black bass and opah, a Hawaiian tuna-type fish - and all were superb, though the halibut edged the others in a final vote. The Sunday night tasting menu appears to be a very good deal at $38 for a less costly option."

  • "It was a special night. Wanted to try a top-rated restaurant for the occasion. Was expecting to order something like scallops, or shrimp (not a huge fish fan unless it's raw), and was surprised to find that literally everything on the menu was fish. One veggie option, one thing'o lobster and octopus, but everything else, FISH! However, I was pleasantly surprised as I enjoyed Black Bass for the first time. It was delicious. 10/10 would dine again. "

  • "You would have never suspected walking into this small restaurant that they would serve up some of the best fish dishes we have ever eaten. Will definitely be going back. The food was amazing and the service was great as well."

  • "I have had been here twice now and am so impressed with the food and service. The food is mind blowing! Each dish is unique and all of the accompanying ingredients compliment the fish so well. The menu is fresh everyday and you can certainly taste it. What a great BYOB for special occasions. And our server, Luis, was spectacular as well! I love everything about this place!"

  • "I first visited Little Fish in September 2012 and was blown away. This was my first time dining there since and it was just as good. The two chefs in the open kitchen worked diligently to accommodate a full dining room of 25-30 people and every dish seemed as if it were carefully prepared for each of us. Subtle touches like coconut/pistachio in the lobster appetizer & duck/miso foam in the shrimp elevate the dishes to a level you just don't find often. The halibut was served at the perfect temperature and the bulbs of both avocado and carrot puree were not only aesthetically pleasing, but also a delight to the taste buds. Little Fish just may be the best restaurant in town and I love that its popularity has not changed their values. "

  • "Wife and I went here recently and we both loved it. There's no waiting area, you come in off the street right into the dining room. Several tables outside too. You're not dining out for décor, it's for the food, and Little Fish comes up big. Black Bass with almonds and grapes was delicious. Some sort of creamy almond sauce, wonderful. Wife had the Tasmanian Sea Trout, also very nice. We didn't order anything else b/c we were headed up the road for crepes for desert, but we'll be back."
