Diner Reviews
  • "This was our second dinner here in the same trip to Toronto. We had a different server this time and she was also extremely pleasant and efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed and the employees seem to genuinely enjoy working there. While the restaurant offers a great fixed menu for theatre nights, we had no problem ordering a la carte at our 6pm seating, with enough time to walk to The Royal Alexandra for an 8pm show. We'll return!"

  • "Interior is clean, modern, bright and airy. Food was great. Server was happy and efficient. We booked to return two nights later before going to see a play."

  • "Very good food in a classy environment. I liked it because it was quiet inside and plenty of natural light."

  • "We had a big group coming to dine at this restaurant. The restaurant was very accommodating, we had to move location because the group was bigger than the initial booking. The server treated us very well, which is rare for large group dining. The food was tasty and the venue is very nice (i think they've recently renovated the space). I would come back again."

  • "A place as equally fabulous for business lunch as it is for a romantic dinner. The staff are courteous, well informed and personable without being presumptuous or over familiar. It comprises luxury without pomp and never ever fails to impress even the most staunch of my guests. LIttle Anthony's is truly a gem, and a place I am happy to recommend."

  • "LA has a great location but they are not a great restaurant. They haven't figured out what they are/want to be. Appeal to hotel business crowd across the street or the young crowd that hte decor seems to have been designed for? They hover between he two not very successfully. We can give them a chance to mature..and figure it out, but not sure how long they can survive in this "in-between" space. The food was good. Nothing to complain about there."

  • "We booked on line which was so easy to use, the food was awesome and the setting was brilliant, would recommend and will defiantly be back."

  • "Each time I visit my first impressions are validated. The food is well prepared and presented, the service is discreet and efficient and the ambiance is refined, but comfortable. Have recommended it to friends and they have been back more than once. Definitely one of our favourites"

  • "We had a large group and the restaurant treated us exceedingly well. the food was fantastic and our server made great recommendations. I would definitely go back."

  • "The restaurant was busy with conference attendees. Therefore our food was slow coming out of the kitchen. Given its proximity to the Opera House and conference venues, I would have expected the kitchen to have worked out this timing issue by now."

  • "Opted for the pre-theatre prix fix (3 course meal) $35. The service and food were quick in order to get us to the nearby show in time. Felt slightly rushed to order and to eat. Beet salad, chicken cacciatore & lemon gelato. Decent size for those with a smaller appetite. Would order different dessert next time."

  • "Great for pre-ballet dinner. Ambience is compatible and conducive to taking a ballet date. Service is combination of old-world care and friendliness combined with effervescent 21st century"

  • "The food was excellent! Our waiter Moni was fantastic! His wine suggestion was perfect and the courses he suggested were great options . This restaurant will become a regular haunt for my sister and I ."

  • "I have been here a few times for business travel and would recommend it to someone looking to try something new. There is nothing WOW factoring about this place except their deserts. I attended for summerlicious and for normal dining. I think their pasta dishes are just ok."

  • "My daughter and I dined here for the first time last week and I hope it won't be our last. We were greeted at the front door by a friendly hostess and shown to our table at the back of the restaurant. The restaurant was quite modern inside with the tables laid out simply with nice clean white tablecloths. Our waitress was just as friendly and attended to our drinks order right away, allowing us to peruse the menu. The menu choice was excellent, with a nice twist of some of the traditional Italian dishes. My daughter chose the spaghetti with turkey meatballs and I had the butternut squash ravioli. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The service was very efficient which was great as we were attending a show a theatre close by."

  • "Food and atmosphere were good but the service was extremely slow. We had to remind our server of our order and it took a very long time for lunch."

  • "The salad was old, the pasta overcooked, the sauce bland and the clams tough."

  • "What A Find We found this restaurant approximately 10 years ago - attending a function in Toronto and an employee at the Westin Harbourfront Hotel recommended LA. We made the long walk and were extremely pleased and every time we return to Toronto for a meeting or function or social event, we try to go to LA. The food is always exceptional, with a good wine selection, comfortable seating and great atmosphere. The only time we were disappointed was about 2 years ago when we arrived in Toronto only to find the restaurant was closed for renovations. That was fine since it was a very good reason."

  • "Excellent service, food, and ambience. Waiters are friendly and know their menu really well."

  • "Biggest gripe is the wait time for the food. Was there on a Saturday at 8:30 pm. Restaurant looked at 30% capacity. However food took close to 45 minutes to arrive, and when it did it was as warm as if it had sat on the counter for 15 minutes. Overall experience was very average. Food tasted good, but it was lukewarm at the table. Pro: It took 5-10 minutes for a Guinness to arrive. Which means they did pour it properly (rare these days)"

  • "We had a lovely dinner with great service and good food. We've been looking for a nice place to have a good meal before the opera - Little Anthony's was perfect! We will be back before the next show for sure!"

  • "Once again, Little Anthony's was the perfect Pre-opera dinner spot. Excellent, service, beautiful and delicious food and a delightful ambience - not too loud - tasteful music and lighting."

  • "Lovely room . A charming welcome and kind care for one guest with a walker. However, sad to say, it all stopped there. Our server could only describe the "feature wine" as "the Italian Pinot Grigio". The Chardonnay he brought instead was red. Oops. We then approached the bar twice and flagged a hostess once for service. Truffled ricotta appetizer was delightful, but don't tell people the only difference between the a la carte item and that on the prix fix menu is size and presentation when each arrives at the table - that's just embarrassing for all parties involved. Salad greens might have been dried before being dressed. Hanger steak with gnocchi was excellent. Good news since my first two choices were unavailable.."

  • "Great service, great space. The food was quite good but also quite salty. The chef needs to hold back on the salt a little."

  • "Great Service, we sat in the private room at the back I loved the fact that the tables are not overcrowded, so you can speak and be heard, it is a rare pleasure. Very good food, we will certainly be dine there again. Shirley Decooman"

  • "Had the pre-theatre menu (prior to going to the TSO). The portions were generous and the food tasted good. Our server was excellent - very friendly and attentive. Overall, good value for $35."

  • "Hi, I enjoyed my meal at LA, in particular the appetizer (arugula salad) and dessert (panna cotta). The service was good, though the waiter seemed disappointed that we did not drink - I don't drink at lunch during the work day. I did not love the table we were given but it was busy so I understand. The linguini was a little undercooked and there were not many clams but it was ok. I invited my friend for lunch and we enjoyed getting caught up. Regards,"

  • "We have frequently stayed at the Sheraton across the street and have been curious about Little Anthony's as we walked by. I was in Toronto recently on business and went with a colleague for dinner. First rate everything! Our server, Christian, was witty and very competent and attentive without being intrusive. The menu was varied and reasonably priced, a great wine list, pleasant ambiance and the food was great and very reasonably priced. L/A's will definitely be a new favourite and our next dining experience when my wife and I visit Toronto next."

  • "Pre-opera, we enjoyed a delicious 3 course fixed price menu. Everything was very tasty and well presented, and for us the moderate portion size was just perfect. The beet salad was outstanding. Hanna and her team are very professional but also warm and friendly without being intrusive. We particularly like the ambiance of the 'back room' and have never been disappointed on any of our visits. This is our favourite restaurant for a pre opera dinner and we are looking forward to our next visit in a couple of weeks."

  • "We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here. I had the Winterlicious special and it was great- Minestrone soup, Roasted Sea Bream Fillet with delicious brussel sprouts and tiramisu for dessert. My husband had the Buffalo mozzarella and tomato bruschetta and the Flat Iron Steak. He found the sauce a bit salty. It was noisy at first then quieted down a bit. The only complaint I have is that it was drafty -- too cold to really relax totally. I kept a sweater on over my dress and was still uncomfortable, especially when the front door opened. Our server was great and she even treated us to Limoncello to celebrate our anniversary!"

  • "Wonderful romantic dinner and service as usual. As I discussed with our server I missed the singing waiters as a pre-opera dinner this made the evening extra special."

  • "Both my friend and I had the ravioli. This a pretty classic Italian dish that I have experienced in Italy and even made at home. It was very disappointing, as the ravolis were literally swimming in butter which was very oily. I would not recommend this dish."

  • "The food was good but I expected more of choice. The desert (tiramisu) was the best I have ever had in a restaurant."

  • "Service was painfully slow and not very attentive. Some of the food (apps) was very good, while some of it (flat iron steak) was pretty poor."

  • "The restaurant has a nice open feel with lots of windows. Staff was friendly, but not over the top. Most of the food was very good, and we had the bacon wrapped dates that were almost forgotten by the waiter... definitely glad we asked him to bring them! Nice options on the Winterlicious menu."
