  • "We just enjoyed a great dinner at Linwood's near Owen Mills, Md. north of I-695 and Baltimore. Outstanding and most accommodating service from the hostess as well as our waiter. Excellent cocktails upon arrival. My wife enjoyed her selections from the prix fixe menu while I stayed with their regular menu including a very credible shrimp and grits appetizer followed by the scallops and duck salad that was absolutely memorable. We found the dining experience to be well worth the dozen mile trek out of the city and a great value for the quality of food provided."

  • "What a wonderful evening! The service was perfect as usual-Barb is really quite remarkable. Appetizers included the grilled scallops, the beet salad and the tuna tartare. Each was fresh and delicious in its own way. Not a clue how Linwoods does those scallops but even not scallops lovers love these. Salads were fresh and crispy and dressing to order. Crab cakes at Linwoods are always delicious and tonight was not exception. A must try is the new tuna with the Asian slaw that is on the new spring menu. One of us had the tuna rare and the other medium and each was exactly as ordered. A bottle of wine, great martini- what could be better. Oh must be the desserts. They were really good - although not really dark chocolate."

  • "Been to Linwood's many times and love it as a place for special occasions however it seems to be hit or miss lately as far as a quality dining experience. The food the other night was lukewarm in temperature and the calamari was very soggy and when brought to our table appeared like a clump of indistinguishable dough in a bowl. It also seemed like they were training some new wait staff. We refrained from giving feedback when we were there given we were with a business client and did not want to draw greater emphasis to our experience. Must say this is not our common experience but worth mentioning given Linwood's is always striving for service excellence and most open to opportunities for improvement."

  • "I was in for a quick bite, our server was great in knowing we had to be out by a certain time, the food was brought to us quickly knowing we had a little over an hour to eat. The food was delicious, a great place for something simple with a little sophistication. I thought it was really cool how they had the kitchen in the dining area. The bussers were very attentive and everything was just great."

  • "My guest had the scallop and duck salad. She LOVED it. And in the usual accommodating Linwoods, they were happy to swap out the scallops she is allergic to with grilled shrimp. She pronounced the salad perfect! I had the tuna sandwich. It too was cooked exactly the way i ordered it- nice and rare. The crab soup was full of flavor and topped with crab. Service is one of the high points at Linwoods. Servers know when to appear and when to allow patron chatting. This was a business luncheon so we were left with time to do what we came to accomplish."

  • "Finding the right place for a special lunch is becoming harder and harder. No need to worry. Linwoods is the perfect place. Their pre- fixe menu is excellent and well priced. The atmosphere is charming and comfortable. I highly recommend Linwoods for lunch and/or dinner."

  • "This was a business, working lunch. One of the many wonderful things about Linwoods is that the service is very intuitive. So even though we received all the attention we needed, we also were not interrupted without good reason. The scallop and duck salad is beautifully plated and very delicious. It is a very special lunch. The chopped chicken salad is perfect for spring. it is hearty yet sports some wonderful flavors or citrus, nuts and beets. Feel free to change up the dressing as i did, Linwoods is always happy to accommodate."

  • "I treated my friend to a birthday lunch and she enjoyed it tremendously as a "first-time" guest. Linwood's is one of my favorite restaurants because of its excellent food and service. We go there often for special occasions and I recommend it highly as a good place for a professional lunch."

  • "Truly this was an amazing meal! We had the grilled scallops as an appetizer. I am not a great scallops fan but these were incredible, firm and moist and full of flavor. The new wave Asian influence could be found in both entrees. The halibut is new to the menu. I was so fresh tasting, almost didn't taste like halibut. My companion had the new tuna dish on the menu. The tuna was beautifully plated and cooked exactly as ordered. It, too, was so full of flavor she wanted to eat forever. Tried a simple dessert of sherbet and berries. Delicious after a full meal. The weather outside was frightful, but inside very fresh delicious seafood made us feel like spring."

  • "Seriously some of the best food in the greater Baltimore area. Linwoods is a little pricier than your average restaurant, but the experience MORE than makes up for the higher price. The food is out of this world. Anything and everything you order is amazing. The service couldn't be better, everyone there is so professional, knows how to serve a meal, and is fantastic to be around. GO THERE!"

  • "My colleagues and I got to the resturant an hour late because we were caught in a meeting. The hostess was very understanding and gave us a table immediately. Our server, Jesse, was outstanding. Friendly, knowledgable -- just the right amount of service vs. space. We started with the calamari and it was probably the best I've ever had. So unique. I had the salmon and asked that it be served as rare as possible. It was perfect. Thank you for a memorable afternoon."

  • "Food was excellent! My husband loved the tuna tartar appetizer and can't wait to go back. The lobster tempura was great, as was the Chilean Sea Bass and the espresso rubbed rib-eye. This is an excellent special occasion restaurant and we can't wait to go back!"

  • "We went to Linwoods with one other couple, and everything about the evening was superb. Thee people ordered sea bass; one ordered the sliced tenderloin. We all had salads and dessert. There is nothing to say other than that our server was very professional, the food was absolutely delicious, the setting was quiet and comfortable, and we had a great evening. We dine out often, and this was one of the most pleasant dinners in recent memory."

  • "Returned to Linwoods with a meal credit, so generously provided by Linwoods for a prior dinner experience that was disappointing. This meal proved to be outstanding ....which is the way we've always come to think about dining there. Thank you Linwoods for your commitment to your customers and to providing excellence in dining!!"

  • "Linwood's is reliable and very good. Service is always attentive but not overbearing. Wine list is limited but fairly priced. Appetizers are good for a meal if you aren't too hungry."

  • "I had beet salad - good but portion size was laughable, & shrimp - again portion size lacking, she had scallop app - 2 scallops, & crab cake - good, decent portion size, kind of a shame to spend $100+ & need to complement meal w/ a home snack +"

  • "We recently visited Linwoods on a busy Friday evening for dinnner and were quite pleased. The salads that we began our meals with; a spinach salad and a beet and goat cheese salad, were fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. Our dinner entrees, sea bass and halibut were perfectly cooked and delicious. Our server was attentive, efficient, and timed the delivery of our cocktails, salads and entrees perfectly. We did not feel at all rushed. During our meal, the restaurant owner stopped by all of the tables in the dining room to chat and inquire about our dining experience. That was an added touch to a wonderful meal!"

  • "My last visit was exceptional , this one not as good. Could have been partly due to a "late" reservation of 10PM, (They close at 11pm). The place was less than half full, yet we were seated next to a boisterous group of four who had already had a few drinks. (I know, I should have asked to move...) My appetizer choice was not available, but I informed of this only when the server returned to take my order. My dining partner and I agreed that nothing on the menu was jumping out at us. We both commented on how we felt the server was nice but was just going through the motions. An acceptable meal, not a great one. Wish I could put my finger on it... but we will give it one more try because the previous visit was so good."

  • "Wow! try the new oyster stew. It is out of the ball park! Rich and creamy, it is topped with a fried oyster that really does the palate a happy combination. Mussels marinara are back and very welcome. Always fresh and the sauce begs to have the baguette dipped into it. The iceberg lettuce salad looked so good on another diner's plate that i had to try it. Loved the warm bacon, and cold lettuce with the perfect blue cheese dressing. we went back to two standards and were not disappointed. the sea bass with the crab salsa and the crab cakes are always outstanding. The sea bass is moist and literally does melt in your mouth. the crab cakes are the best, the potato hash is deadly. Spring will come and more reason to eat at Linwoods"

  • "We decided to eat here based on a Baltimore Best Magazine Top 50 Restaurant review & we were greatly disappointed. Wait staff was inattentive, it took 35 minutes from our seating until our first glass of wine was served. At 7:30 pm, they were out of the fish special of the day. The food was good but certainly not great for the price, with dessert being the highlight of the meal (sorbet and fresh fruit). Several restaurant staffers were busy sitting & visiting with guests who were known to the staffers so service suffered. Our meal consisted of two bowls of soup (arrived at 45 minutes) and one strange combo of salmon with BBQ sauce and one special item off of the prefixed menu (dinner arrived at 70 minutes after seating). Never again."

  • "The staff is among the best in town. Attentive, efficient. An exceptionally well managed, non-anxious environment. Love the open kitchen watching passionate and gifted chefs prepare great meals together. Eating at the kitchen bar has to be the best view in Baltimore."
