A word from Linger
Linger, the second concept behind Root Down's Chef/Owner Justin Cucci is located in Denver's Lower Highlands neighborhood. Linger’s vibrant menu reflects a broad farm-to-street sensibility with a spin on traditional ethnic eats. Design elements can be described as a purposeful contradiction featuring reclaimed boxcar floors, a brick ellipse, a Lite Brite bar top and infinity windows with incredible views into downtown Denver. The food, the service, the story combine to extract a feeling. Linger is like a mixtape, and we hope it connects. We’re not trying to reinvent food -- it’s simpler than that. We hope to elicit a feeling – like you get when you hear your favorite song.
Linger now offers lunch!!!! Tuesday - Friday 11:30 am till 2:30 pm.

  • "Tapas style street food from around the world. Great atmosphere. The entire staff treats you great. They are driven to make your experience fabulous!"

  • "Linger was overwhelmingly recommended by various friends, so I made a same day reservation through open table. Our server, Jessica, was so helpful from the start and gave us several food and drink recommendations. We ordered 3 entrees from different regions based on her recommendations, the first 2 were great. The devils on horseback dish is heavenly! When our 3rd dish was not to our liking, Jessica offered to bring out another dish, without us even asking! And, while we were waiting on it, the chef sent out a complimentary dish for us to eat! Then, when we finished eating, Jessica brought out champagne for our anniversary. The whole experience was wonderful, and we certainly felt that we could 'linger' as long as we wanted :)."

  • "Menu items are very unique. You will not find anything that generally exists on any other menu. Definitely chefs creations. Be warned, however, if you go for lunch make sure you go on a day they have valet parking. The parking situation is horrendous at lunch time otherwise."

  • "We just re-located to Denver and had been eyeing this place for quite some time. We were not disappointed. The service and food were all fantastic; I highly recommend the pork buns-delish! But plan accordingly; we made our dinner reservations a month in advance-but SO worth it! Perfect for a date night with your long-term honey. I would not suggest bringing a first date here; this is more of a "seen" and "to be seen" spot. Think Snooze on steroids."

  • "Great lunch sharing 4 plates of street food 'nosh apps' between two of us. Even sauces accompanying apps were impressive Apps were tasty, service pace was good and relaxed. Service team was solid, fit with vibe of meal. Also very accommodating on altering menu. Ian capped off visit with passionate insights about the former (existing?!) occupants and area. Great experience on a Tuesday for lunch!"

  • "One of my all-time favorite brunch places! Love the international street food concept and the fact the food is good enough to overcome the building's mortuary heritage!"

  • "Linger embodies the spirit of The New Denver. Outstanding food, service, a great place, maybe our favorite. You must have the donut holes!"

  • "I have been hearing about the excellence of Linger for many months but haven't had an opportunity to eat at this hot spot. Because of the difficulty in getting a reservation during normal dining hours, I chose to go to brunch on Sunday and was so happy with my first time experience. The open air dining room with the modern interior made for a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The perfect summer brunch ambience! All of the staff that we came in contact with throughout our dining experience were great! And the food was absolutely amazing - delicious, complex, layered and unique! We shared the duck confit bun, the Mongolian BBQ Duck Bun, Wagyu Sliders, Donut Holes, Chorizo Tacos and the Short Rib Fried Rice - all of it amazing!"

  • "Two close friends took me to dinner there Saturday night (the 5th of July). Crazy busy and we couldn't get a reservation, so were told to try our chances on the rooftop terrace. Great choice, though you have to be on your toes to find a table. And I was. The manager was soon over, followed by our waitress. Both were so nice I would have been happy to have them join my birthday dinner. We ordered drinks (mine was an amazing rum slushy), then one wonderful ethnic-themed small plate after another. Even though an obnoxious builder has blocked off part of their view, it still felt like being transported to another country sitting outside in the soft night air."

  • "We loved the environment and the food but the wait time between items was so prolonged we never really felt like the whole meal came together. Even with a late reservation it felt like the kitchen couldn't keep up."

  • "We've eaten at Linger at least 10 times. The food is creative and interesting. The servers are well-trained and prepared to provide guidance/recommendations. The room is great for people watching. If you're lucky to sit near a window, upstairs or downstairs, the action outside is another part of the experience with Little Man ice cream just below. If I had to advise someone on the do-not-miss restaurants in Denver, I'd have Linger and it's sister restaurant, Root Down, at the top of the list."

  • "My son and I had lunch at Linger a year ago and it was remarkable. The trio of desserts were some of the best I've had. However, last week we hosted some friends from St. Louis. Frankly, I was unimpressed by most of the offerings. The white gazpacho was wonderful, but the chicken rice or farro soup was lack luster. The springrolls had no flavor and were comprised mostly of tofu and rice noodles with very few veggies or herbs. I own a cattle ranch, so I admit I am a snob about beef, and the sliders were without flavor. Lunch was still better than average, but it was not the remarkable find I experienced before. Sometimes, there is just a different chef and it is a different lunch. I would still go back and try again."

  • "Loved our brunch this sunday. We had the best service, our server was excellent! We had a great time catching up with family. We even had an 8 month old with us and it was perfectly fine! Hope to go back soon."

  • "Great place to take out of town guests--even Southerners. The variety of small plates gives everyone an opportunity to express a preference and share. My new favorite is Chicken B'stilla--crunchy, tasty, and yummy. The pot stickers are quite spicy which may catch some unaware. The fish tacos are lackluster compared to the other offerings."

  • "Great service, great atmosphere and great food. We tried a variety of plates and the only one that we did not like was the salmon ceviche. A little to chunky for us."

  • "I always take my out of town guests to linger for the fabulous foodans great views of downtown. Added bonus is all the gluten free options plus gluten free desserts!"

  • "I love this place and the food is great, but what ties it all together, what makes it a work of art, is the staff. From the welcoming and smiling host to the friendly yet not too familiar wait staff, to the manager that checks with each table to ensure satisfaction, it is like a dance they exhibit to make it all work. There isn't the feeling that our table is assigned to one person and that is the only server to attend to us. There are other restaurants with good to great food, but when the staff isn't on the ball, it detracts from the overall experience."

  • "Finally got in for Father's Day and when I had a lunch with an old friend and her partner from out of town, it was first on my list. And it did not disappoint. The ceviche with the homemade chips was a perfect starter and then we shared the fish tacos and the sliders. the sliders are so good i could eat them all by myself. the staff is always great, the view perfect, the open garage-door windows let in a great warm breeze. it's a fun place, but serves serious food with unobtrusive, impeccable service."

  • "I personally enjoy Linger, and love bringing clients to Linger. There is never a dull moment and always something to talk about. Everything about Linger is an opportunity of conversation from the surroundings, history and amazing food. Every server I've had has been wonderful, energetic and part of the whole experience."

  • "Interesting menu with lots of choices, many of which are vegan or can be made vegan. My only disappointment is that they do not seem to have any light, fruit-based desserts. They are all heavy & full of dairy and sugar. Also: too noisy for conversation. We were there with an out of town guest for a visit."

  • "linger never disappoints! whether you are in the main dining area, the bar, or rooftop, it's a vibrant and fun scene. the variety of menu items is outstanding and i always love what we order. this last visit (rooftop for lunch) included the honey-sriracha duck wings (drum sticks) that are out of this world delicious; fish tacos; chicken bun; and the pot stickers. cocktails are excellent as well!"

  • "Brunch at Linger is a treat. We made our way through the menu - sliders with squid ink buns (don't be squeamish, they are delish), a dosa dish with great Indian spices, and the Coconut Fizz and La Rosa cocktails. Everything was perfectly made and very tasty."

  • "Although we were extremely sad to see that the Tokyo White Castle Sliders were taken off the menu, we always enjoy everything we have at Linger. Not sure I've eaten anything that I've not raved about."

  • "Linger is outstanding and offers fresh/sustainable/healthy/exciting food. Great for vegan/vegetarians like me with a great wine list. Everytime we eat at Linger it is outstanding, from the bar to the main restaurant."

  • "I went to the weekend brunch. The food was wonderful, and the service was top notch this is a trendy neighborhood restaurant not well suited for quiet conversation. There is no attractive ambience - straight wooden chairs, close tables, mimosas served in water glasses. However the food was absolutely out of this world!"

  • "This was a very good experience for my husband and I. I had made online reservations and explained where we would like to be seated and preferred not sit, seemed silly, but I did it as a preference. When we arrived we were seated, and this was good enough for me, I was happy to see what they had done to where I used to work and was amazed! But they brought up to us that they had sat us where we did not want to be seated and promptly and apologetically moved us to a beautiful window seat. The food was a bit spicy which I would recommend that the servers warn the customers about, just so it is a bit more pleasurable dining experience. The Pot stickers and Ceviche were amazing, but just watch for the heat with the Chili Rellenos, ooh la la. :)"

  • "We enjoyed our evening thoroughly! Everything was perfect!! I tried a new menu item -- the greek salad, and absolutely loved it! Thank you for your attention to details; it really makes for a lovely dining experience!"

  • "Incredible service. The manager and host were very accommodating to our seating preferences. They knew it was our anniversary and they brought us a card signed by most of the staff there, as well as complimentary champagne! The server was quite friendly and very knowledgeable. Their mojitos were perfect. The devils on horseback where the most delicious thing we had EVER tasted, we ordered a second round of them for dessert! The scallops were sweet and tender, the potstickers awesome. We didn't care for the Chile relleno but that could probably just be personal preferences! They took it off the bill and brought us something else without fuss. The entire experience was phenomenal."

  • "The menu is different......not really my cup of tea but the roof top bar area is awesome and the wine list is pretty good. Food wasn't anything special....kind of a weird menu for my tastes. Duck wings and falafel would not be my top dinner choices. But the service was excellent!"

  • "Every bite was amazing. Went for Father's Day brunch and my husband was so happy. A bit out of the way for us, but will probably be our go to spot. I got the Shrimp and grits benedict and tried some GF French toast. Every bite was incredible."
