Seafood and FriendlinessDining alone is not always comfortable but Lineage made it so - with attentive thoughtful yet unobtrusive service. The oysters were especially wonderful as was the wine. I can recommend the halibut. My wait staff were very knowledgeable about the selections and did not rush me. .6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMneighborhood restaurantEven though there is no valet parking, there is plenty of on street parking available.
Chef is creative. Good choice of entrees.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAttentive serviceSophisticated decor, superb meal and attentive service made a friend's birthday dinner very special.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWere very impressed......foodWere very impressed......food was delicious and inventive. Couple of comments: The Lobster Tacos could have had more lobster........Thought the portion for panzanella and mussel salad HUGE and the fluke ceviche very small; there could have been 5 scallops rather than 4; the burger portion was huge with many many fries; and the other main courses on smaller side......kind of inconsistent.
Because we didn't want to sit at the hard benched table in the front for our 7:30 reservation, we had to wait 45 minutes for another table. Then the service was a bit slow and we didn't end up eating until 9 p.m......too late and too long. That table should be kept for walk-ins not reservations.
Everyone was very very nice, tho6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMnever disappoints, gets even betterLineage continues to be a gem! I believe it continues to get even better. The new chef has really added some wonderful choices. The shrimp and grits is outstanding - as good or better than many I have eaten in New Orleans over the years. He has a light but very flavorful touch. A gem - not to be missed! You will not be disappointed - from the moment you walk in the door until you leave.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWarm and inviting atmosphere,Warm and inviting atmosphere, good service and really well prepared food with lots of flavor. Lobster tacos as appetizer an immediate favorite followed by grilled blue fish, perfectly grilled with just the right amount of smoky flavor. Rounded off by wonderful cheesecake - a great meal. Good selection of wine, including a fresh Albarinho at reasonable price.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat MealThis was our first time at Lineage and we were not disappointed. The lobster tacos and island creek oysters were great appetizers. Russian Mule hit the spot and our Shrimp and Cavatelli dishes were scrumptious. What kept this from being 5 stars were relatively minor details. Espresso served was without crema, cream/sugar, lemon peel garnish, and was splashed over mug and saucer. Dessert of two chocolate chip cookies sandwiching mint ice cream was delicious but seemed more fitting for something we might make at home, late night, versus a night out on town. Despite these minor details we had a good time and would come back.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectEnjoyed absolutely everything about dinner for party of 6. Flawless.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place!I just love Lineage. Always a tasteful menu with old time favorites, yet always something new to try. Friendly staff that make you feel welcomed, best oysters, great martinis. Love the localvore philosophy.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a pleasure dining @ LineageA wonderful combination of interesting and tasty food, prepared with care. Attentive service, but never overbearing. Also, table spacing is wonderful - a table of 2 or 4 people can carry on a conversation easily, without having to raise their voices. Overall, a delightful evening.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMVery fine restaurant. I hadVery fine restaurant. I had an arugala salad and oysters which were very good. The oysters could have been larger. Given the relationship with Island Creek Oyster House, Lineage could have a larger selection of oysters, Everyone enjoyed dinner.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOur party of 6 had wonderfulOur party of 6 had wonderful food. As usual the food was excellent, service was attentive without being obtrusive, and the atmosphere was quiet and enjoyable.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMy salmon was excellent, asMy salmon was excellent, as were the vegetables accompanying it. The chocolate mousse, however, was too dense. Our waitress was wonderful.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLineageJeremy Sewall, what devine food combinations in my mouth! Bravo to you, Lisa and your team on a wonderful experience, just shy of perfect. Delicious meal made of several appetizers and salads on this visit. I would not share the lobster appy next time, it was too delicious! Service was not up to the super standards of everything else this night. I look forward to returning soon, and to ICOB as well!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was great, but the placeFood was great, but the place was noisy, contrary to a previous Open Table review.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food is exceptionallyThe food is exceptionally good, and the staff is exceptionally nice. A wonderful restaurant.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful dinner at LineageGreat atmosphere, not too trendy, not to staid. Excellent tasting menu.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was outstandingThe service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The Hostess greeted us warmly and we cannot say enough nice things about our server, Darian. We would certainly return again.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMVery goodThe food was very good, but not stand-outs relative to their prices. Lobster tacos are their trademark... Very good, great balance flavor-wise all around. Swordfish and steak entrees were cooked perfectly, the pickled grapes that came with the swordfish was very strong, maybe only needed half of what was on the plate. The chutney-style sauce that came with the steak was amazing! Cheesecake was deconstructed, accompanied with candied kumquat. I'm not a fan of cheesecake, but the candied kumquat had a very strong and sweet flavor (sugar and rosewood water?), which I personally enjoyed. But it's an acquired taste. Decor was very masculine - neutral & gray tones. Bar was jumping, bartenders appeared very active and engaged.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, not mind blowing,Excellent food, not mind blowing, but very good. They had enough vegetarian options to appease the veggies I was with.Service was top notch, they even gave my wife some warm bread as we were leaving the place.I reccomend this place to anyone going out for the night in Coolidge Corner.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, very niceExcellent food, very nice atmosphere and accomodating staff.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good restaurant wouldvery good restaurant would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMReally one of the best restaurantsReally one of the best restaurants in Boston. OUTSTANDING service. Friendly, easy atmosphere. A great menu that has old-reliables like the excellent burger, but varies selections enough that people who go there often (like my wife and me) are always interested. The bar is a true find. First rate professional bartenders who are really more like cocktail scholars.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and Great service.Great food and Great service. Comfortably elegant decor. Quiet but energetic.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance, service andThe ambiance, service and food choices and quality were just superb. And, the chef was willing to adjust entrees for my vegetarian husband. It's easy to converse even though it's quite busy with lots of active conversations.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNice local resturantNice intimate place. We found the food was excellent and we were able to hold a conversation and did not have to struggle to hear the other person.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the best dinner IThis was the best dinner I have eaten in a restaurant in a very long time! The food was especially flavorful without being drenched in sauce and grease! Looking forward to a return visit!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery gracious host and ourVery gracious host and our overall experience was very good at this restaurant as you can see from our ratings. Keeping in mind that we visited on Tuesday evening, not on a busier night such as Thursday or the weekend. One point: the wine list needs work: it is more limiting than one would anticipate given what the chef is offering on the menu. Not looking for "fancy" or long, but there needs to be somewhat greater depth in both whites and reds. An example that comes to mind is Nicole Bernier's list at Rendezvous in Central Square -- again, the list need not be that long, but some of the Italian, Spanish, French, Austrian wines provide suggestions for an addition or two or three for Lineage.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite Restaurant in BrooklineLineage is a fantastic restaurant. The food and service are consistently excellent; it is always a special occasion going there.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed our dinnerWe really enjoyed our dinner at Lineage. The food was excellent; the dishes were all inventive and interesting and delicious. We appreciated the variety of the side dishes included with each entree. The space and noise level were very comfortable and contributed to a special enjoyable dinner. We will return and highly recommend Lineage.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTook my girlfriend here forTook my girlfriend here for an anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time. The place was crowded when we got there but the waitstaff was prompt and ver helpful. The dishes were delicious and would definitely like to return.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYummy scallopsWe came here for restaurant week, but decided to order scallops instead. It was very good!!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. Pricier,Excellent food. Pricier, but worth it for a nice night out. Service is attentive but not overbearing.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI visit Boston each year forI visit Boston each year for one week, and always plan to dine twice at Lineage. Fabulous food and special commendation for the managers who work with the wait staff.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and drink,Excellent food and drink, fantastic service-- in short, a great dining experience, but frankly, what I have come to expect from Lineage, and what they deliver every time!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the bestThis was our second time dining at Lineage and it did not disappoint. The food is the real star here. High quality outstanding taste. The staff was attentive and polite. Not crazy about the chairs as they had more of a patio feel, but overall it was wonderful and we will be back. Highly recommend it to impress a date or client.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMsubtle and delicious fareThe menu is blessedly short and there is a tasting option of fish which looks interesting. But we chose (to share) meatballs and a baby arugala salad (I would rather have allowed them to grow up) but both were delicious with delicate flavouring. The meatballs sauce is to be commended. The scallops and salmon were very large portions (I thought three scallops would have been enough but there is often comments on this site about portion sizes). Leaving little room for dessert we did attempt the chocolate which was sublime. The wine by the glass was very varied (both by country and type) and was interesting. My only complaint was the noise but after a brief time it was pretty easy to adjust.1/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceSat at the bar in front of brick oven fire. Great service and wonderful atmosphere. Was a romantic, yet lively atmosphere. The food was fantastic, we had drinks apps, salads, main courses, and even dessert. Everything was amazing, leaving us with a great overall experience.9/9/2012 12:00:00 AM
