Diner Reviews
  • "Stopped in for Restaurant Week 2014. We were quickly seated, and our water glasses were filled. Then we waited almost 10 minutes for our server to stop by to take our drink order. The rest of the service was ok, but nothing special. While it was restaurant week, it was also a Saturday night, which is always quite busy. Dinner was tasty. The duck wings and the pork belly tostado were both nicely prepared. The shrimp and grits was a great combination of flavors, but was slightly surprised of the small quantity and size of the shrimp. Maybe 6 shrimp that were 30 count. Compared to my dining partner's 6 ounce filet topped with an egg over roasted veggies, I felt a little cheated. Desserts were good also. Overall a good meal."

  • "Set in beautiful German Village in Columbus, Lindey's is definitely a place one should visit. A gorgeous restaurant with amazing food. We had people from all corners of the state coming for lunch and everyone was impressed with everything."

  • "While visiting Columbus with my son we chose to try out this highly rated restaurant. We Ordered spinach salad and lobster bisque for appetizers. My son enjoyed his soup, salad was underdressed and just ok. My risotto dinner with lobster and shrimp was good and my son ordered a pasta dish. For dessert I had a peach crostata which I thought was outstanding but too big to finish. My son had a mousse he enjoyed with peanut butter. Great neighborhood, great service!"

  • "Went with another couple for dinner during restaurant week and we all ordered from the Prix Fixe menu. Everything was great. Shrimp and grits was best I have ever had as grits were super creamy and shrimp were perfectly tender in a flavorful sauce. Root beer float Creme brûlée and peach crostata were both great at dessert. Only reason I marked service down was that a new father showed up in the bar and bought a round for the whole place. Food service really slow afterwards. Understandable I guess."

  • "I recently visited Lindeys for dinner on the patio. It is always one of my favorite things to do in the summer. I am amazed that everytime I dine here, it is always consistently top notch service, food, drinks, ambience, and an overall perfect experience! Thank you for a great night out!"

  • "My boyfriend and I decided to visit Lindey's at the start of restaurant week. When we arrived to check in, the hostess asked if we would like to dine outside and pointed us in the direction of the outdoor garden. Around the side of the building is a gorgeous patio dining area, draped in trees with a fountain in the middle. We had to wait at the bar for only a second before we were sat (we were a few minutes early to the reservation) and were led to a seat by the fountain. The dining experience was intimate and romantic, the food beyond delicious. I'm still dreaming about the duck wing appetizer. We had an amazing time, our waitress was just the right amount of attentive, not too intrusive. We can't wait to go back!"

  • "I tried Lindey's for the first time during Columbus restaurant week. Even on a Monday night it was very crowded - I'm sure lots of people look for the chance to try this place! I had made a reservation and we were seated outside on the patio quickly. The cocktail list was great - very well made drinks. Our server was personable and knowledgeable and attentive even though they were so busy. THE FOOD! We were a party of four so I was able to try a little bit of several dishes that night. I had the shrimp and grits which were spectacular. Every bite was so delicious. I will for sure be going back to Lindey's soon!"

  • "We were on the patio for brunch on a beautiful day and it had wonderful ambiance and great food.. I had huevos rancheros and they were a little unusual and a taste-sensation as were two fish dishes. Great coffee topped off a great meal."

  • "Lindey's is our go-to for a special occasions and my husband's 40th birthday dinner there didn't disappoint. The highlight was being able to sit on the patio - great ambiance! Food was excellent as always."

  • "We visited for our first time on Friday, after reading great reviews on Lindey's. The food was truley outstanding! We are foodies and have tough criteria to consider food to be outstanding. The steak my husband enjoyed rivaled the top steakhouses in town, and was, in his words "the best steak I've had in years". The staff was very professional and attentive without being part of our date, or intrusive. The ambience was just right, it felt like a night out, without the stuffy feel of comparable restaurants. A true neighborhood gathering place. I would absolutely refer a friend, and have already encouraged several friends to give Lindey's a try. Thank you all for a wonderful date night."

  • "We had reservations for 8:45 and were immediately seated. The service was quick and polite. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was DELICIOUS. We had the prime rib and smoked mozzarella ravioli. The waitress recommended a bottle of riesling which I can't recall right now, but was also delicious. A manager came by to make sure everything was going alright with our meal. He offered us a free dessert to share as well. It was our first time at Lindey's and we will definitely be going back."

  • "For many years, Lindey's has one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus. The food and service has been great each time I have been there. It is a good restaurant for special occasions and has a great patio for out door dining."

  • "The food was great and the patio is stunning. We were seated and greeted immediately and then once our waitress brought out our drinks she vanished never to be seen again. Had to flag people down just to get cheese on my daughters pasta. Poor management on the patio with a busy bar and horrible service with one waiter for every dozen tables!!! Worst service ever."

  • "Went to the restaurant for a birthday celebration. Food was good. Service very good and the ambiance very pleasant. The courtyard is a must on a pleasant spring/summer/fall evening. I think that the food could be better with less "going on"--meaning that dishes do not always have to be blended with seafood for some awkward Midwest version of "surf-and-turf." Similarly, am I the only one who does not like pork? Why mess up an otherwise perfect dish with additional flavors that do not always blend well. Kale is great, but again, many restaurants seem to be overdoing it with a green. It's not always good to go with the latest food fad, and there are other great greens (lamb's lettuce, endive?) out there."

  • "One of our go-to places when we want the atmosphere of Germain Village and the certainty of a great experience. We can always count on the atmosphere being right, and the food not disappointing. The make a great Manhattan, too! :-) My only complaint, and it's not Lindey's fault, is that many diners think tee shirts, sloppy shorts and flip flops are acceptable attire for better restaurants. I know it's hard for the proprietor to be the fashion police, but send them to McDonalds! Keep it classy Columbus!!! Fortunately, the underdressed are the exception at Lindey's, but I like better dress in better places -- you don't need a coat & tie, but..."

  • "I have eaten at Lindey's twice in the last month, once with a group of 13, once with just my wife and another couple. Both visits were very, very nice. The food was excellent, the service was good, attentive, but not intrusive. My wife and I will be going back. This is my favorite restaurant in the city."

  • "my husband had the soft shell crab special and thought it was delicious! I had the grouper which was too salty and overcooked!"

  • "Great service and always consistent in the experience. We arrived at bar towards the end of happy hour before being seated. The bartender was clearly flustered, even sweating, but otherwise professional. Drinks were good. Appetizers were very good---mussels, carpaccio, and calamari. Salads are always fresh and tasty. Entrees were good to very good. Though we equally love seafood and meat, we find Lindey's does better with meat. The dishes are always well-seasoned, perhaps too salty for some tastes. We also spent some time with friends at the bar patio, which is always a good scene. This was the perfect choice for our group of varied preferences and ages."

  • "I mentioned in my Open Table reservation that it was our anniversary. We were given a large quiet table in the upscale part of the restaurant. The manager stopped by several times to see how we were enjoying the evening, our waiter was exceedingly kind and attentive and they provided us with desserts free of charge. It was extremely enjoyable and we will be returning many times."

  • "Our server Feather was rude, food (tuna tartare) okay. The manager was apologetic after we finished our appetizers & drinks. We had dinner elsewhere. I brought a guest with me whom had never been there before. I was embarrassed by the experience."

  • "My family and I had dinner at Lindey's and were not disappointed in either food or the service. Our only disappointment was there seems to be little or no communication between the hostess on the outside patio and the hostess in the inside dining room. Otherwise, the food was excellent."

  • "Met our son their for Sunday brunch. Food was great as was the service. Lived in or around Columbus for years and years but never got to Lindeys. What a regret. Also regret not eating outside when it was offered by the hostess. Beautiful setting."

  • "Two of the three steaks ordered were overcooked. We ordered them medium but they came out well done. The waitress took them back and sent the manager over. The manager came to the table and offered a cup of soup to me but by that time I had already finished my meal. The manager never offered anything to my dining partners who were waiting for their steaks. This was my husband's birthday so it ruined the meal. Later on the waitress told us to save room for dessert because it would be on the house. That part was good. It is annoying that they refuse to take reservations for the patio. We had to wait at the bar and found the bartenders to be very unfriendly. Again I was disappointed because this used to be an excellent restaurant."

  • "Loved everything about this place. Went for brunch and everything was amazing. We sat outside, in what feels like a lovely garden, right next to the fountain. The beignets were outstanding as well as the crab and eggs and the french toast. The waitress got our order wrong and did not offer any sort of discount along with her apology, however, the food was so delicious and well priced that we didn't even care. I cannot wait to come back and try other items on their extensive menu."

  • "We were not in a rush, but took 10 minutes to get water; nearly a half hour before someone offered to serve us. First glass of wine came with lots of cork in the glass. Second glass a little better. Tried a third, then ordered iced tea. Tried the lamb, a specialty item. It was OK, but the potatoes were tasty. My wife had salmon, but was under-impressed. Dessert was delicious, but was never offered coffee. Chris, the waiter, made an effort, but the support from the kitchen and bar wasn't there that night. Will not be on our favorites list for sure. May try again, but not for a while. A shame because we had high expectations. Not how we wanted to celebrate our anniversary."
