Diner Reviews
  • "Lincoln was a delicious dinner. We loved the small plates concept and loved everything! We dined on the champagne strawberry jam, which was very good. The duck sausage was creative and tasty. The asparagus and Brussels sprouts were also amazing. Beautiful interior and great drinks. Made for a wonderful night!"

  • "This hasn't been the first time that my boyfriend and I had dinner here. This restaurant has a seasonal menu, and we wanted to try what they had this season. We were not disappointed with the food again! It was delicious! Our server was the worst though! He never told us any specials, he was not attentive at all, and he did not listen to something that was requested while wrapping up the food. I do not eat meat, my boyfriend does. Typically we would not wrap things together, especially if I was planning on eating it later. We asked for two separate boxes. We received one. Guess I didn't need my leftovers. Oh well. They also didn't have something to make the drink that I REALLY wanted. I'm sure the waiter knew ahead of time, but messed up."

  • "My wife and I met a friend there for dinner. Although the restaurant was basically empty they sat us next to a table of 3 where 2 women argued loudly the whole time. The service was pretty good and we liked the idea of the small plates allowing us the opportunity to sample several dishes, however, the food was at best mediocre. The small portion of pork belly had too much fat on it. The asparagus and the crab risotto were tasty but too salty, as were most of the dishes. The pot pie was good. My wife had a 'Moscow Mule' mixed drink and says that it tasted like it didn't have any vodka in it."

  • "The only complaint is that we ordered coffee & never received it. We wanted it with dessert. It never came & was asked after dessert if we still wanted it. No, coffee goes with dessert!"

  • "We chose to dine at Lincoln because we had a phenomenal experience at Teddy and The Bully Bar. The food at Lincoln was excellent, but the service was the worst I have ever experienced. The waitress was miserable - no information about daily/house specials, happy hour, and no plates(?!) until repeated requests. Overall, it was an unfortunate experience. I would highly recommend the food; but based on the service, I would have a hard time justifying a visit."

  • "My fiancé and I had just gotten engaged hours before we dined at Lincoln. Not only did every plate come out delicious (Brussels sprouts and macaroni and cheese were amazing!) but they sent over glasses of sparkling wine just because they heard about out engagement. Would definitely recommend for food, ambiance and outstanding service!!!"

  • "Went there on a Friday evening. The front area of the restaurant was loud, so I was glad we got a spot in the back room. It was much quieter there, only about 8 tables. The service was really good. Our server was very attentive without being intrusive. He let us set the pace on food and drinks. The timing of the small plates was good. Only downside was that the short ribs were boring. Heavy sauce without much flavor. The vegetables [brussel sprouts, asparagus and beet salad] were all great."

  • "The restaurant/bar is beautiful. Fun and eclectic accents surround you as the attentive and professional wait staff tend to your every need. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Don't miss happy hour."

  • "Great food and interesting food combinations. Try the seasonal mason jars or one of their deviled eggs, delightful!"

  • "We had their seasonal dinner tapas and it was absolutely fabulous! You can't go wrong with any of the cocktails either."

  • "Easy access from McPherson metro station. The small plates were very succulent. Great menu to try different types of food and signature drinks....sharing maybe :)"

  • "I've had dinner at Lincoln once before and was pleased with everything we had, but this time around -- not so much. The brussel sprouts were as amazing as I remembered and the Cherry Blossom special short rib was very very good. But the "spring" risotto was heavy and over-cheesy (although it was gouda so that's semi-expected) and not light and airy like I would imagine a spring dish. The crab risotto didn't have much crab and definitely not big chunks. The calamari sticks were too heavy and oily and with the hush puppies -- some were very greasy, others were fine, but all didn't have much flavor. I will give Lincoln another try and hope for a better visit."

  • "The small plates are so great for a group as long as you don't mind sharing. In addition, a fabulous server and a fun place. Loved the opportunity to share lots of different foods and have fun while doing it."

  • "the braised short ribs were absolutely delicious. my foodie friend from Seattle also like the kale salad and the fried pickles. on the down side, the waitress was right to warn us that the rolls with the ginger butter were "just house rolls." we should skipped them. the small plates for sharing idea is great, but be careful not to order too many. nice reasonably priced wine list. the iris pinot noir from oregon was wonderful and only $12 a glass, very good for downtown DC."

  • "Everyone was pleased but it was just OK - asparagus w poached egg was cold; hush puppies a bit pasty; the calamari strips more Applebee's than hipster/upscale. All was fine but nothing really fabulous."

  • "The place has great food and a good atmosphere for brunch."

  • "Went here for lunch; expensive salad that was basically just a lot of lettuce. Have heard other disappointing experiences. Server was very nice though, and they have a decent bar setup. Go for drinks, not for food"

  • "This was our second trip to DC as a family and we made sure to visit Lincoln again. We were not disappointed, the drinks and food were great. I wish there was a little more variety for kids but otherwise no complaints. A special thanks to our server, he was the lead bartender, he was on top of all our needs."

  • "I searched for a Sunday Brunch Spot online and came across this restaurant. After reading the reviews from other sites I thought to give a chance. I was impressed by the 'LINCOLN' signage out front, clean/sleek/simple. I knew that once I got inside, I would not be disappointed. The ambiance was so unique and refreshing, from the hanging mason jars to the spacious seating. Even the bathrooms were impressive! I dined with a couple of my girlfriends for a Ladies Sunday Funday. Moses was our waiter and he recommended we try the Brunch special. He kept our glasses filled with mimosas, bellinis, and bloody marys while the DJ spun some of the most memorable jams from the 80's & 90's. Such a great time! The food was great! We'll be back for dinner!"

  • "Met there with a colleague to discuss business deal over lunch, and man oh man was that a fantastic choice! The calimari appetizer was ridiculously good. The moonshine was very well-mixed and not too overpowering in either flavor or punch. The wait staff gave us the best service I've ever seen. Oh and the prices were great! What more could you ask for?"

  • "I love the Lincoln's food, especially at night. It can be too noisy for a good business lunch. Their specialty cocktails are also wonderful."

  • "It was virtually impossible to talk during lunch. I will not go back."

  • "Our party of four tried about 16 offerings and none of them disappointed. Standouts included the Maryland Tater Tots, asparagus, crab risotto, and the cinnamon roll sundae dessert. Only problem was the noise level at our table, right next to the very loud happy hour crowd. We could not converse with each other and even the server had a hard time hearing us. I wish we had asked for a different table because the noise affected our overall experience. From the bar, we loved the Southside and the Lincoln Sour."

  • "We went here for our 20th anniversary. We booked in advance which was important because it was full when we arrived. We were given an excellent table and the service was impeccable - not fussy or over the top - just really genuine. Our waitress Milena explained the menu, drinks and made our experience even more special. Food is quirky and unusual but seasonal so very fresh. We were initially concerned about reviews saying the restaurant was loud but this was unfounded as you could never complain at the sound of people enjoying themselves. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to fellow British travellers as part of the Washington DC experience."

  • "Energetic and fun music. Food tasty and prompt service. My only suggestion is to turn the music down a bit as we really had to talk over the music. Decor was fun and tasteful. Waiter recognized my husband's b'day with a delicious chocolate ganache!"

  • "Take some of your friends and head to Lincoln. We dined as a group of four and all of the various courses that we had on the menu were delightful. Portions are met to be shared as food will arrive to the table as it is prepared by the kitchen. The potato leek soup, deviled eggs, kale salad and any of the vegetable dishes were gone within minutes. The flavors in these dishes were a great way to start the meal. The small entrees we shared of fish, scallops and short ribs all had wonderful flavors and completed our meal. Don't pass up the wonderful house cocktails as the MaiTai that I had was just as good as sitting on the beach in Honolulu. Service was attentive and pleasant. Make sure Lincoln is on your list when dining in DC."

  • "Our dinner was very good but toward the end of the meal when a large party of women were seated in our area and other tables were increasing the volume of their talking in order to be heard, the noise level was almost unbearable. At that point we were eager to leave. Some form of soundproofing is highly recommended."

  • "great décor with food and drinks that did not disappoint! the pumpkin and peach risotto was excellent and the brussel sprouts were pretty good too! I ordered a strawberry julep, which was tasty but switched to the Moscow mule and realized what a difference ginger syrup instead of ginger beer makes! staff was friendly and nice. I enjoyed the mason jar lanterns and the penny floor near the bar area is pretty impressive! overall great experience."

  • "This was the first time for dinner--I had gone to lunch last week. The food was very good and having the tasting portions made it easy to order. My biggest complaint was the noise level. I know that's what younger people like, but both hearing our friends and even hearing the server was very difficult and makes for a tedious evening. Otherwise, it is a very nice experience."

  • "The food was good and the scene was "be seen", but the service really stood out as being friendly and attentive. This is a trendy place and sometimes staff in trendy places take on haughty airs. Not this place. Our server, the host, and then another person who must have been an assistant had flawless timing in approaching our table and seemed to read us perfectly as to when we were ready to order, ask questions, need more wine, have desert, etc. and the place was packed, so no easy task. They even appeared thru the packed crowd to help us take "selfies/groupies". Well done, Lincoln."

  • "I had an 8 pm dinner on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant and bar were full and lively. I dined by myself so was only able to sample a handful of plates (they feature small-plate style food) and cocktails, but I enjoyed everything. Cool decor, large menu, and a trendy crowd"

  • "This was my second time at Lincoln brunch, and I was disappointed in comparison to my first visit. The last time I visited, I ordered the buffet, which had a great selection of food, and variety of options to choose from. This visit, the buffet was was terrible. They had only an omelet station, waffle station, a small selection of fruits to choose from, and some pastries. You were allowed to choose two sides off the menu, bacon, eggs, toast etc.. but if you wanted extra you had to pay. How do you have a buffet, but have to pay for extra bacon, or toast? Doesn't make any sense at all. The ambiance was great as usual. Good music, and a lot of energy, but I definitely will not be returning until they get a better menu for the buffet."

  • "I had someone in town who is very into Abraham Lincoln so I took him here not knowing what to expect. It was fabulous. The decor is amazing - not in your face Lincoln, but just enough - very well done, and the bottomless brunch was delicious. I read reviews that this place was very loud, but that wasn't my experience at all. I will definitely be taking more visitors back there."
