  • Worth the trip to D.C.

I try to avoid leaving suburban Maryland as we have some terrific eating places here. However, it was worth fighting the rush hour traffic to dine at Lincoln. The selection of small plates was varied enough to accomidate different tastes and all were properly prepared and attractively presented. The theme is interesting and of course appropriate for D.C., and the facility, including rest rooms, was clean and well maintained. Service was good and the noise level not excessive for a busy downtown establishment.

We went to Lincoln because we were attending Ford's Theater. What a find! Excellent food and very accommodating. When my friend asked for the gluten free menu, the waitress handed her the regular menu which had been reduced to their gluten free options! As the restaurant has small plates, we knew what dishes could be shared and which to avoid. Great idea! The food was delicious and not too expensive. We were extremely pleased with the results. Special applause to the Brussel sprouts!

I always enjoy going to Lincoln, the food is great BUT I rarely get the seat I request. It doesn't matter that I request a window and two window tables are available when I get there, there is always someone more important for whom they are holding the windows. The manager acted puzzled when I said I requested a window on my reservation through Open Table, and he said he'd go and check. Well ... he never came back because the request was there in black and white and he just wasn't going to do it. It happened again this past Tuesday. AND at very least, I wanted to NOT be in the middle of the floor. But nope. Seats all around the perimeter, but they wouldn't give it to me. Honestly, I'm sure I'll dine there again, but not any time soon.

Stayed at the Residence Inn on Vermont this past weekend. As a hotel recommendation the Lincoln was across the street. Small unique plates served with superb service. Food flavors were excellent, but the noise level was a little high for dinner conversation. Definitely recommend if in the neighborhood.

Looked online to find a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. It was a wonderful find. Small plate meals afford the opportunity to try many dishes. We tried five different items....all were wonderful. Kale salad, chicken potpie among them.

The place is outfitted with everything Lincoln, so that's a fun reinforcement to a trip to the capital city. We started with the calamari straws which came with three dipping sauces. The calamari was tender and nicely breaded and crisp. I had the BLT salad and my partner the Lincoln Cuban sandwich. Both were well seasoned and tasty. The hit of the meal are the house made chips. Salty with a hint of something unique. The waiter said they soak the potato slices in a balsamic brine before frying them. To die for, seriously! Looking forward to next visit--double up on the chips, please.

We've been many times, I would say it wasn't quite as good this time but still very good. They just switched to the fall menu. The constants were very good as always- deviled eggs, mac and cheese, chicken pot pie, kale, and brussel sprouts. The short ribs were a little dry. The fish was disappointing- the rockfish was salty and the salmon tasted a little undercooked. The pecan pie sundae for dessert was excellent.

Whether it is for lunch or for dinner, Lincoln never disappoints! It has great energy, atmosphere and décor. The menu is full of fun and delicious surprises that arrive perfectly prepared and with beautiful presentation. The cocktails are clever and well served. A creative, engaging and reliable choice for a meal that will impress friends, dates, out-of-town guests, clients etc. Can't wait to go back for more of that grilled octopus...but then again there's the shrimp and grits...either way don't miss the brussel sprouts...decisions decisions!

I have been to LIncoln a few times and keep returning (so it must be good, right?). I'll say the produce is always fresh and the food is fine. The waiters are a bit sullen ftom time to time and the ambience a bit noisy (it is not the guests, it is bad acoustics). The location is superb if you want to be close to the Hill, the think tanks and the political scene. No Vallet parking but expensive car parks are close. So is the Metro :-)

Lincoln is an excellent find in DC!! A friend who frequently visits DC met me there in March. It was so delightful I returned two nights later with a colleague. The dishes are creative, tasty, and unique. Beverages are delicious and hit the spot. The servers are knowledgeable and everyone treats you as if they are thrilled to have you join them in their own home dining room. We returned to the spot in September and were pleased to see the same excellent servers and delighted to enjoy the same scrumptious small plates. Great spot!

I took some relatives here during their visit to D.C., and we all enjoyed our meals. Being that it was not my first time at Lincoln, I was expecting certain items such as the sweet onion and corn hushpuppies and the duck sausage. I was disappointed at first when I realized that the menu had changed, but then realized the corn fritters were a great substitute for the hushpuppies. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but the menu online is a little deceiving if you are not aware that it changes frequently. Thank you for the delicious mean and the gracious service!

We enjoyed Lincoln better last time we were there several months ago. Sharing small plates is really fun, but we found the flavors didn't really work in a lot of the dishes this time. An heirloom tomato dish was strange, with oddly sweet pickles thrown in. The deviled eggs were sweet, reminded me of Miracle Whip. The ice cream with the Pecan Sundae (great pecan brownie!) was grainy and icy. Hush puppies were good. Pork belly good. Brussels sprouts were excellent. Portions are small, they're supposed to be. But if you order enough for everyone to feel satisfied, it gets quite pricey. And nothing complimentary, not even a bread offering. Service was attentive, but the restaurant is noisy and our server not a native speaker, not easy.

Recently I had my birthday brunch at Lincoln with 7 friends. I chose Lincoln because not only were there bottomless food and drink options, but also a la carte options that were perfectly sized. No one left hungry! Also, the drinks are huge! So you may go in thinking you want bottomless drinks, but you may walk out tipsy from one drink, as was the case for 3 of the ladies at my table. :0) The service was great: I was treated with with a piece of fudgey chocolate cake with crunchy, coffee bits and a smear of mango (?) jelly. Hard to describe but delicious and much appreciated!

I had heard good things about Lincoln and was excited to try it out. It was a disappointment. I found that the menu mostly uninspiring and the portions far too small. I am not a big eater, but these were tiny. My crab cakes were mushy. The waitress was quiet to the point of being inaudible.

I really enjoyed Lincoln but the volume of noise is something to acknowledge. I had the strawberry salad, short ribs, sea scallops, a bottle of Riesling and the peaches with mascarpone ice cream. This restaurant came recommended but even though there were very few people in the place, we found the service to be slow and inattentive. The server explained the "concept" of the restaurant, small plates, free flow from the kitchen, etc. but could not find her way back to bring wine or water. That said, the food when it finally arrived was very good. 3 or 4 small plates per person is about right.

Our first vist. Went for Restaurant Week. Very good deal 4 courses for $35. Food was very good (slab of pork belly BLT, brussel sprouts with peaches and candied pecans, roasted bone marrow, short rib, and citrus doughnuts). Service was good too (our waiter was Alexander). Good drinks (Madame or Lady Lincoln - elderflower essence or liqueur, prosecco, lemon and lavender). Cool decor of all things Lincoln (wall of pennies, modern takes on Lincoln portraits, hot pink neon wall of Lincoln writings). Sidewalk tables, large bar, happy hour and all you can drink brunch ($39). We'll definitely go back! Wish it was closer to where we live and work. Nearest metro is McPherson so the area is very quiet on the weekends since offices are closed.

I took my Mom here for brunch and it was amazing! We both chose to do the unlimited waffle and omelet station that came with 2 sides, fresh fruit and unlimited mimosas, bellini's and bloody mary's. The chef station lines were not long and even though it was unlimited he took his time with every omelet and waffle. Great choice of sides. The grits were the best that I have ever had! Another great perk was they had chicken and turkey for the non-pork eaters. I will definitely be back soon!
